RAM AC poor performance TWITTER/FACEBOOK

More ammunition:

It's now over 90 in TX and while my AC is apparently working better than most, I turned it down to 65 yesterday. That temp setting, combined with the less than ice cold air, resulted in the eTorque Start/Stop no longer being active due to cabin cooling. The net is that with Ram's blend door issue causing the AC to not function as it should is now going to cost users MPG and wasted gasoline since Ram's start/stop cannot function as intended.

The warmer the AC is running "as designed" prevents the start/stop from activating as often, so clearly these systems are designed at cross purposes. How do we get the eTorque engineers to step up and get the AC engineers to remedy the situation.

Maybe someone can calculate the cost of this but it's another way to raise awareness.
Don’t forget to post this on Facebook/Twitter. Let’s make it public. Class action lawsuit if needed! That’s the point of this particular feed.

******IMG_3077.jpg***** I was looking at various coolant valves and discovered that 2013-2018 HAD a 3 way electrically controlled coolant valve and then FCA apparently eliminated it in 5th gen redesign! Things that make you go hmmmmmmm!

This is not a single case, it's a problem for almost all new RAM 1500 apparently? This need to be a recall and need to be fixed completely. Those do not have AC performance issues actually have something wrong with the car. They need to have a case to be escalated to check why the AC is not performing poor as designed.

I too am noticing that my A/C does not appear to be cooling very efficiently in this warming North Texas heat.

Hi Jester19,
Have you had the opportunity to visit your dealer regarding your A/C concern? Our team would be happy to escalate a case for you to ensure your concern is documented as well as add additional assistance to your dealer visit. Please send our team a private message if this is something you would be interested in.

This is exactly the kind of issue that is preventing me from buying a new Ram. As I posted elsewhere in this forum, I don't want to buy a headache. I'll wait a year or just buy another brand. FCA seems to prefer being reactive than proactive. I want to know that they are fixing this on the production line before I spend 60k on a truck with bad ac or other known problems. I love my two older Rams, but seems like a lot of issues for the 2019.

Are you kidding me? I've taken it to two dealers, and they both said it's working fine, even thought it is not.
How about you issue a friggin recall instead of giving folks useless advice?

Agree. I believe most of us on this forum who are experiencing this issue have taken our trucks in for service at one point or another and have been told the same pathetic response - performs as expected. Unless RAM "expects" it to perform inferior to just about every other vehicle new and old, they should do something about it.

The 2019 Ram redesign has been on market for approximately 17 months. The AC threads clearly show that members were complaining last summer about warm temps from vents. For dealers to say vehicle is "operating normal" when vent temps are 60 degrees is totally unacceptable. The engineers had all winter to look into a resolution and apparently no progress has happened. This issue now being shared by email with TFLtruck as they have a 2019 Rebel as a long term tester. Andre Smirnov responded that the weather hasn't been warm yet but they will look into vent temps compared to other vehicles soon. With such a wonderful redesigned truck winning almost all awards possible, it is hard to believe Ram won't acknowledge that there is a problem. Making owners mad and frustrated when it could be handled so differently. Member KcRay experimented with reducing coolant flow to heater core and "instantly" got much cooler air from vents. Obviously the "blend" door isn't closing off heater core heat. Why is it that the owners need to come up with a work around on a $62k truck? The dealers are screwing around with evacuating and recharging freon system when it is a diluted heat from "blend" door warming up chilled air problem. Where are the knowledgable engineers? Apparently our "poking the bear" is the only resolution to get this fixed. If I were FCA, I would 1) send a letter to all owners acknowledging the issue 2) offer a temporary work around for immediate improvement by adding valve or clamp free at dealership 3) then TSB or recall when permanent fix is ready. We discovered a "3 way coolant control valve" was installed on 2013-2018 5.7 hemi trucks, but was eliminated in 2019 redesign. Maybe that was a mistake???? ........RamCares....are you forwarding this on to "powers to be"...? Ford and GM will start advertising that they have "colder air conditioning than Ram" and show sweaty pitted out Ram owners carrying their tailgates.......lmao.

Yeah I took mine to the dealer 5/27/2019 and they ran mine and it took almost 10 minutes for the vent air to get down to 45 degrees. And that was in the shade. My wife's car will blow cold air in about a 1.5 mins. And her car is 7 yrs old. So what's the deal with our Rams.

So @RamCares responded to my PM and told me in order to escalate my issue I need to take my truck in for service even though I've already done that and was told the AC performs as expected. I've had my truck in for service 5 times in the past 3 months for various issues (all reported on the initial visit) the AC being one of the issues. Now you want me to take it in again? No thanks!

While I appreciate the quick response, it was not very helpful.

Insanity - doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result.

I was told the same thing by Ramcares. My truck was at the dealer earlier this year and got the usual “performing to spec” response and I’m not taking it back for the same response. Taking it back means time out from work, arranging for transportation, etc. I would take it back if there was any hope that they would do something about it .

I noticed right away that my 20 year old ford-crew cab-diesel-pickup had better air-conditioning then my new Ram. In 20 years the ford wasn't recharged even once and the air was colder and cooled the cab better. From what you guys have said, it sounds like a design issue. I have also noticed my truck stops shutting off at stop lights in warmer weather. And its not like i am living in AZ or TX, I'm in WA.

There are at least 5 AC threads running now. Here is a list
1) Air conditioning Hack
2) RAM AC poor performance TWITTER/FACEBOOK
3) A/C Performance
4) Air conditioning performance
5) Update on A/C issues

Not sure if there is a way to consolidate these.

Been watching these. I was glad to see it's a common occurance. I think it's kinda ridiculous that we have to engineer our own fixes on brand new trucks. Own the last 3 generations and by far this one have been the biggest headache. Brake squeal, side mirror motor, ac not cooling...

Hello RamCares......are you communicating with management about how this AC issue is growing much bigger rapidly as the word spreads and weather warms? Just sending owners to a dealer that is going to reject problem isn't a valid solution.
