Hello, sorry for the delayed response to this. ...Had to be away on travel for a while. Glad to send a private message, but I'm not sure I know how. Please advise.

I did a bend door check and A/C performance test today on my August build Laramie

I am the type of person that typically see all 3 sides to the coin/situation....my side, their side, and the truth from both sides.

While I see riccnick's points are valid and is a "single" test/check of what is deemed normal for the a/c parameters. I do wonder if that dirty filter plays a part on it along with all the other variables (location, amb temp, pano, tinted windows/etc...). I appreciate you documenting it from start to finish---helps us DIYers.

I also see the valid points with coming up with a fix (jhill+others) if manufacturer has not (yet); or will not as in other cases of problems with mass vehicles but don't get the greenlight for Service Bulletin FIX. <---that should get to the point of exactly what part/etc is faulty/needing repaired---until the exact problem; alternatives can ease the sweat.

Bottom line is reverse the shoes and then see what actions "YOU" (everyone of us) would be doing in that situation??? Often, people as a whole change their tunes when the "heat" is directly on them vs looking at situation from a safe distance. These are broad statements not directed at anyone....And I must say this has been pleasant "conversation/aka debate/discussion etc" compared to other forums in my past too.

I personally have tested (not all in compliance to proper procedures) my vents with temp-gauge and after my "equipment fix" (you will see via pic), have to say I am still torn with the output of my A/C. Personally I will test it several more times. Of course different times of the day and other variables play a part. Bottom line is my butt-o-meter says it can be better. Thus I can appreciate the temp/fix option (thanks again Jhill+ others) and may have to resort to it come the HOTTER MONTHS down here in SouthWest Florida!!!

So, I appreciate all three sides as there is truth on both sides, and this deserves a fix in my opinion.
Even if all the vehicles are tested and are in compliance per Manufacturer's specs (who made the parameters???), and depending on the percentage of complaints of those suffering (insert Bean Counters here) depending on the bottom line of the "cost" of this and future sales....changes can/should be made. Unfortunately it boils down to money as we all know. How squeaky is this wheel(AC issue)???!!!!!!

Yes, I went and purchased a new gauge after my very first readings!!!!
Make sure your equipment is working properly:

Here's what it is like right now in Cape Coral/Fort Myers Fl area:
88° | 73°
94 F
FEELS LIKE 115°

Ok... And ?
It's related to the content of this thread? I didn't want to spam all five A/C threads so I just linked to the one I replied to. My truck is an August build, and despite my thought that it wasn't running cool enough, following the testing procedures, I actually have great results given the heat and humidy of my testing conditions.

All that stuff you said, lol

So what's the deal, which thermometer is correct? The one's I used needed to be calibrated in a bucket of ice water first to ensure that they would read correctly. Did you calibrate yours? Just curious

the 53.0 is correct reading. Yes, did that it was 32.1 out of the package---gotta test the test equipment!!! (if anyone does the ice water test make sure it is not touching any part of the glass including bottom tip---touching the bottom with the tip changed it 2 degrees warmer---suspended 32.1)----yes I gets geeky some of the time and I like it!!!!

I am only at about 5k/miles but I am gonna check that cabin filter over the weekend.

While driving yesterday (in 100 degree heat) my AC immediately shot up to 76 degrees and would not turn off! I could not adjust the thermostat or anything! I shut my vehicle off, put the ac back on MAX AC and it did it again! Strangest thing I have ever seen!

Harbor Freight clamp is done, seemed colder but I'll come back with another update in about a week since this week is going to be HOT!

Well I don't know anyway to describe it other than poor. When I can get in my wife's 2012 Maxima and her a/c will freeze you out and mine is just cool. I think they should recall them and put the 134 back in them at least it works.
You shouldn't and I'm not going to try to modify it so it works better. When you pay this much for a truck, the a/c should work great.

Your link did not show up on my phone, why I was waiting for a follow up

The talking heads at FCA ask me to make another video after the third failed attempt to fix my HVAC. So decided to share with all

For those of you just using the valve at some point your blend door will break and it’s going to cost you thousands to get fixed if your warranty expires. Everyone with this issue need to start complaining and forcing them to fix it.

Did they fix this?

My truck is new, about 350 miles. The AC doesn't seem any less cool then my gen 3 Ram but after having my windows tinted today, it gets cold in the cab quick. Had all glass tinted with Wincos IR block film, front windshield and sunroof with 70% and sides and rear with Wincos IR 30%.

The cab is far far cooler now and I've not needed to run the AC past level 4, today it was 97 -100°

I did some investigating with my dealership and they are telling me another issue is the new environmentally friendly *refrigerant* that is being used lacks the ability to get the air ice cold.

From what I am being told, the new Rams are dependent on this new refrigerant and only designed for the use of this new eco-friendly refrigerant..

Can anyone confirm if this is true and if so are there any alternatives?
The "new" refrigerant R1234yf has been in use for a number of years now. If you look up the pressure curves for R1234yf and compare them to R134, they are almost identical. R1234yf drops off at about 150 degrees F which is way beyond the cooling range capability of automotive systems.

In short, the answer you received is patently false.

Best regards,
Dusty

I couldn't find any significant mention of a/c problems @RamTrucks, but I haven't tweeted in a while and Twitter looks totally foreign to these eyes.
