Price negotiated from MSRP

Gone are the days when all you had to look over your shoulder for was the salesman and his manager. Now you also have to keep an eye on your wallet as the banker’s cut has gone significantly larger with rates above 6%…. Today’s buyer has to cut a heck of a deal on the truck but also pull off a miraculous feat if financing the deal.

Man, You Tube is full of “the sky is falling” copycat videos on the big 3 truck sales. While I dont care for the ridiculous prices of the 24’s and 25’s, I don't think dealerships will be going bankrupt like the YTbers are saying.

Recently one Ford dealer down in Florida just shut down however that seems to be rare. I do see a lot of inventory on the local Ford and Ram lots, not so much the GMC or Chevy dealer lot.

gm shuts the ft Wayne truck assembly plant down every time inventory gets a little out of hand on 1500's. I am about 60 miles from there.

One of my favorite videos was one that insinuated, quite intensley, that Stellantis was going bankrupt and needed government intervention.
Dealers won't go out of business, they will get bought up by the big conglomerates that are already doing so. Soon you'll have to clarify when you say "big three" do you mean the manufacturers or the retailer supergroups. But anyway, bad news sells papers - or clicks - so the unfounded stories will keep flowing. As I always have to clarify - I'm not saying Stellantis is perfect or that business is exactly where we want it to be - but this is no where close to the level of fire and brimstone you hear on these fancy videos.

Here's one of two in stock limited 2024 1500's my local RAM dealer has on his website. Doesn't look like very aggressive pricing to me. Must not be hurting...
They don't have a single 2025 on their lot and the 2 TRX's are at MSRP. (At least no markups).

2024 Tradesman Crew 4x4 etorque hemi, Sticker was $56,510 and I paid $39,500 plus tax, so $42,300 all in.

Nice job! Tradesman gang 😤 I factory ordered one via Mark Dodge. I believe I was $47k plus tax, $49k all in. I did add the 6'4" box, 33 gallon fuel tank, bed utility package, blind spot, and night edition. One could definitely argue those add-on's ultimately aren't worth the $6,700 more I paid than you, but they are nice. It's a great truck - enjoy!

2025 1500 Laramie Southwest edition, laramie level 1 equipment + spray in bedliner. MSRP ~72k, negotiated to ~55k before TTL.
Heck of a deal!

FYI, I am in Houston and almost all dealers have at least $10k off MSRP right now

What is a reasonable number off msrp now days, I’m thinking of trading but things sure have changed.

Dealer near me doesn't deal at all, they think 2K off MSRP is a deal. But you should shop around on the websites for the big Ram dealers if your willing to travel. Some will even pick you up at the airport, but I believe its a buyers market, I'd expect $5K to $10K off MSRP for 2024's.

Yep. Mark Dodge will pick you up from I think 5 different airports. I chose Houston, because it was cheapest from Detroit, and I had flown there before. A driver picks you up, and takes you the two hours there, where the truck was waiting, on the delivery pad. The whole process was great. I paid cash, so wiring money for a truck I hadn't seen, was scary, but they let you check it all over and test drive to make sure it is acceptable, before signing paperwork.

My sorry *** local dealer thinks this is a good price on a 24' Tradesman 4x hemi:
MSRP $51,845
2024 National Retail Consumer Cash $2,500
SALE PRICE $49,345

No dealer discount listed at all. That's probably why their lot is so full of Jeep/Chrysler/RAM vehicles and there's nobody looking... Do they really think anyone is going to pay that price?

2024 Longhorn 1500
MSRP $80,120
Natl retail consumer cash -$2500
Total discounts and negotiations came to $15,736
Sale price $64,384

I also negotiated an almost half price Mopar extended warranty and paid only $278 for ceramic treatment inside and out.

ID the dealer so others close to you know.

A few members have mentioned the desire to have a price paid thread so I decided to do one and pin it here so it will be easy for everyone to find.

I think the best way to make this thread is as follows:
MSRP of the specific truck
What Rebates and incentives were applied and $ amounts
Any further negotiations
Final price

Please do not include trade in values, taxes, OTD price or anything like that as those are all variable depending on where you live etc. Rebates and incentives are also regional so also please post up where you purchased the truck and when.

Example:

2016 Ram 1500 Sport

MSRP $64,440
-$10,000 rebate from Ram
-$1000 skilled trades rebate
-$3940 additional negotiated at dealer
=$49,500 paid

Vancouver. B.C August 2016
2023 Ram Big Horn bought new March 2024 69 miles
-MSRP $63,456
-Advertised for $43,560
-Offered 39k
-Settled on $41,169

2024 RAM 2500 TRADESMAN CREW CAB 4X2 8' BOX HEMI
MSRP $53,290
Dealer Offer $46,211 before incentives.
This is 13.28% off MSRP

Is this discount considered good at this time?
The last time I bought a truck in early 2021 my discount was 19.17% off MSRP using the information in my guide.
