Am I understanding correctly that adding an e-torque to my 5.7 hemi 6'4" crew 1500 would give me an additional 300 lb of payload?

No, it would reduce payload, by whatever the weight of the etorque system is (90ish lbs maybe).

Can someone enlighten me? My jamb sticker shows 300 pounds less payload than what's on Rams website for a Laramie. My only options to this trim are LSD, trailer brake control and navigation. I cant imagine those add an extra 300 lbs. What am I missing?

Thank you I made the mistake of looking at a dealership website

The Ram website is generic (not specific to the Laramie). In this case it lists the MAXIMUM payload for a 1500/crew/4x4/long bed, lowest trim and basically no options. Misleading isn’t it.

Well, that's dumb. Why even list the different trims on the payload page? Thanks for clearing that up. Sorry of it's been covered already.

Yea, he’s an idiot. Ask him to run 3 different vins on the lot...

Just had this verified again today at our local stealer. Some tool he had was able to pull up the right number on my 2011 by the VIN, but he kept persisting that 1840 was the number on a 2019 Limited w/ramboxes. I told him to run the sticker from Iowa he pulled up to match my req'd options, and the Limited from their lot w/o boxes. He tried to run some BS after they both came up the same when I told him they should be 160lbs different minimum due to the boxes. I know they're slimy but c'mon, just admit defeat, it's not affecting your sale, I'm ordering anyway :p

I think that’s just the way it works for all the manufacturers. I’m researching a Limited trim CC 4x4 5.7 short bed. Towing chart says ~1800 pounds max payload but we know from the payload stickers we’ve seen that actual payload for this trim is ~1400-1500.

I’ve been looking at a Platinum F150 also. There its even more misleading. They claim max payload of 3000+ pounds (they don’t break it down as well as Ram does for each engine/cab/bed/driveline combination in their towing guide). Well the actual payload stickers for the Platinum trim are in the same range as the Ram ~1400-1500lbs.

The new gen Ram is more competitive in payload capacity than the previous generation, at least at the higher trim levels.

The Payload is way under rated. **Real World update** I put 4020 lbs of payload (Scale measured) in my truck this weekend and the rear end felt a bit mushy but the air suspension brought it to level and it stayed there for the 5 miles back to the house with obsidian black rock in the bed and the only thing that felt slightly different besides the tiny bit of bounce was changing lanes at 55MPH.

4020Lbs VS. 1345Lbs door sticker.... Just saying that they really under rated these 1500 trucks most likely to sell HD trucks.

You put 2 ton of rock in a 5'7 bed...that is impressive in itself.

But you also answered why the ratings are underrated...changing lanes at 55 mph, people think they have to go 75 everywhere and you didn't mention any downward slopes.

It is also interesting how some can not get air suspension to level 800 to 1000lb tongue weight...but it leveled up 3000 more pounds.

We will never know how much they underrate them thanks to how the world works.

But it seems like you got one of the best experiences so far.

Awesome.

But I will still keep my 2500...love the 8 foot bed.
