New truck, Chrysler holding it hostage.

Many of the motorized systems use controllers that are calibrated to learn the 'end stops'. HVAC flaps, sun roofs, seats and windows are a few examples. The hardware must be designed to run and store the calibration. Lets hope FCA has this calibration designed in and maybe is just needing a 'tweak'.
My mirrors touch the glass when i put them in. I also hope to get this fixed.

If I’m reading this right. They put on a tonneau cover without your knowledge of it being done? They replaced the radio head unit and re flashed pcm? They cannot give you a clear answer as to why they haven’t fixed it?

I cannot handle this thread. Its driving me nuts.

Rarely does something from the internet impact my real person life. But this is. Reasoning this out gives me a headache as I run into mental dead ends. For people like me, who problem solve, it hurts the head.

Its like the Rain Man figuring out the Whos On First skit.

I was talking to my brother this evening and he thinks that it might be a computer brain centered stereo. He thinks that the flashing of software or anything computer controlled might be from the stereo interface and screen. Couldn’t say if that’s true or not. Way over my head. But that’s his take on it

The Body Control Module is the gateway between high and low speed Controller Area Networks (CAN) and between Local Interface Network (LIN) and CAN networks.

The mirrors are controlled by the Door Control Module(s)

The keys shouldn’t need to be reprogrammed unless the RF-Hub was replaced

I didn’t request the cover. But it has a cover. At first I thought it wasn’t my truck. But a cup in the center console that my daughter made me with her name on it and some junk mail in the front seat were still there so I know it’s mine. So I’m not gonna nitpick that. The tint I mentioned was something they were doing and somehow didn’t seem to mess that one up. As far as the radio. He mumbled something about programming and flashing the software having some relations to the software that runs the mirrors. I’m not sure about this one at all either. I am also a little confused. But was unable to get an answer.

They put on a cover that you never requested? Why on earth would they do that?

I may be entering into conspiracy territory here, but let's look at some facts:

1. The truck you saw has a cover, and there is no rational reason why any dealer would just put one on, at their expense, completely unrequested. You may not have even wanted that cover at all. At the very least they would have said something to the effect of, "we are sorry for your issues, can we give you a free cover to make things right?", but nobody would just go and do it without any confirmation it was even wanted.

2. The truck was conveniently sandwiched between multiple vehicles so it was unmovable.

3. The key fobs don't work. Most likely the battery was disconnected, probably deliberately.

4. The few items in the front seat could have easily been moved from your vehicle.

Unless you verified the VIN on the front was the VIN for your truck, or you tried to open the doors with your fob key I'd be skeptical this was your truck at all.

This is completely crazy. Obviously we don't know the truth of what is going on here but something is definitely NOT right.

Why are we slamming this guy???

First he's a troll... and now he can't even recognize his own truck?

I hope you guys get better treatment when you post your own problems.

I don't think anyone is being slammed, those that have been affected by this thread are trying to make sense of it. I'm confident @Zambalis is tired of talking about it and is starting to confuse things. After reading his original post, I understand he had his truck for around a few days and wanted the mirrors looked at and some window tint installed while the truck was there. He seemed to trust the dealership because a friend or acquaintance is the owner. Seems like he needs better friends since he's been without his truck for a month. There are some confusing details, like the tonneau cover, probably requested at the time of purchase? Not seeing it for a month, @Zambalis forgot about it? It's an emotional roller coaster to be sure, one for the books.

I would mention to the lawyer about going to the local news station and have them run the story on the dealership if necessary. Last thing they want is bad publicity.

However, I looked up Jim Glover Ram from Oklahoma and it has a 4.7 out of 5 rating so this strange(front license plate in picture).

I did too. Spent some time tonight reading the reviews.

I also looked at their new car inventory, one black longhorn. No tonneau and an 8.4 (not 12 like the OPs). Plus the one on lot has running boards, the OP pic doesnt. I dont know what I was hoping to achieve. Just sifting thru infornation until something hits me.

Just a heads up... i learned from some attorneys website (he explained californias lemon law in somewhat detail...and yes I know hes in Okie), that the days accumulated (30 day rule) only count if the vehicle is being worked on, or perhaps COULD be worked on.

If a vehicle is in for service, but had to wait 10 days for a part, say, then those 10 days dont count.

In this case, and assuming lemon laws to be similar in his state, we clearly do not know if a part was ordered during any of this entire time period, from a radio head to a mirror motor, a key fob, whatever.

So this is why his attorney should really be involved, to be able to open up and file an actual suit, and then subpoena the dealership and FCA for official records of servicable time versus part waiting time.

I didn’t know the truck was from Jim Glover. That explains it to me. When I bought my rebel I lived in Oklahoma. They have a bad reputation in Tulsa and I clearly stay away from them.

Ask for your truck back man. Perhaps PM @RamCares if you need assistance. Last resort, tell them you'll be forced to explore all appropriate legal avenues if necessary. That will likely get the ball rolling quickly. We are talking about a mirror here, not a power steering failure or transmission stall.

Thanks for looping us in, dutchman187.

Nov 30, 2018 I bought a brand new off the truck 2019 Laramie longhorn. Had all the fixings bells and whistles. One thing bothered me at the dealership. The side mirrors hit the window.

Speaking with my sales person, she went back to service and came back to me with two answers to two questions I had.

1. Is there a fix for the mirrors?
2. Can we tint the front windows to match the rear?

She said the service manager on duty said that there was a recent software patch that limited the movement by a hair to avoid hitting the window and would have to be brought in and flashed. Seeing as I wanted the tint done I said ok and I bought the truck. Set my appointment for exactly 3 days.

Drove a whole 33 miles before bringing it back to get the tint and what would seem like a one day total fix.

Today I just got a call from the service manager stating that Chrysler won’t release the vehicle back to me until the engineer figures out a solution to the mirrors. That’s over a month long wait with apologies and excuses. Always the same thing, “we have a star report pending and can’t give you back your truck because the engineer needs to run test”. Ok I get it and all. But I just also paid my first payment and bought the tags for a truck I don’t have and there is nothing Chrysler is willing to do about it.

I love the look of the truck, the way the seats fit me well. Hell even the 12” screen is over kill but I enjoy it. However my Chevy has never had an issue where the dealership tells me they cannot give it back.

I’m very dissatisfied with the communication and consideration for the customer in this whole endeavor. I told them I have been reading forums about this problem that is not being fixed and the response was. Don’t believe those forums competition pays for them to be there.

So did a Chrysler dealership just say all of you are fake people with fake questions and problems? I think so.

Hi Zambalis,

We'd be happy to take a closer look into this situation for you, and we apologize for the frustration you've been caused! Please PM us with your VIN or case number.

Hate to add additional angst but with that radio replacement you may have issues with the remainder of your free year of Sirius. At least that's what I've read from another thread where they replaced the radio. Make sure the dealer sorts this out directly with Sirius.

Either way honestly if I were him I’d not accept this truck back anymore there might have been too many things going on with it.

Also @Zambalis since you have an attorney involved now which I’d recommend you do! I’d advise you not to speak with @RamCares other than referring them to your attorney.

Totally agree with you guys. Just let the attorney do the talking.

Trust me, his attorney would appreciate this advice as well. He might even tell him to stay off message boards..
