Milage update after 3 months of ownership and 6370 miles. The truck lifetime is 17.8 mpg with 221 hrs and average speed of 28.08 mph.

Terrible! I was really hoping these trucks would be better or on par with Ford and GM in regards to Mileage.

I do allot of city and idling on certain days and then mainly highway on others. I actually believe it is pretty good. My 09 Seirra would only do 19 mpg highway and averaged 14 mpg. This truck has done as good as 24mpg at slower highway speeds and will get 21-22 mpg driving 75 mpg.

I have a 110 mile round trip for work everyday. 10 miles of that is light city driving. Every tank so far has averaged under 19mpg. My 5.0 f150 was consistently in the 20-22mpg range with this same drive. Maybe it will get better. I don’t know, I guess we will see.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen higher then 18mpg with my 3.92 gears and mostly empty as far as payloads lol.

Just got back from a weekend trip the Durham, NC from WV. 660 miles round trip averaged speed between 65-75 mph and used adaptive cruise most of the way. Also, varied terrain though Mountains in WV & VA and mainly flat & rolling hills in NC. Truck set at the hotel all weekend so this is mainly straight highway. MPG was 22.1 on the cluster when I pulled in my driveway this evening. Used 87 octane.

I have a similar, but slightly shorter commute (60 round trip, 10 miles in light to stop and go traffic). I can get 21 if I am driving for mileage. Otherwise, 19 is par for the course. What speed are you driving? I've found 68-70 is a sweet zone. 70 and over and the ECO seldom comes on.

According to some sources, mileage gets better over time, with 40-60K being optimal in a well maintained vehicle. Wind also makes a big difference in our trucks. I'll be interested to see what the results are, nevertheless.

What is the final drive ratio in your truck? Note that in "Dkwatts1522" original post above, the signature indicates a 3.21:1 final drive ratio. If yours is the 3.92:1 ratio, we'd expect lesser fuel economy under most conditions compared to the 3.21:1 gears. Of course the towing rating for the 3.21:1 trucks is significantly less than the 3.92:1 trucks, but therein lies the tradeoff: performance -vs- fuel economy.

Any idea , ball park, how much you lose mpg going from 3.21 to 3.92 rear end?

Has anyone seen a MPG difference between the Crew cab and Quad cab? The Quad on paper looks to be about 150 pounds lighter overall. Also, how does the off-road package affect MPG? I'd imagine the weight from the skid plates and 1 inch lift change it a bit

With 500-something miles on the truck, I finally had the opportunity this morning to put in some gas and check the mileage.

I would estimate 80% city miles on this tank. The readout showed 14.1 mpg, and I hand-calculated 13.5 mpg.

My truck is a worst-case scenario (loaded 4x4 crew cab with 3.92 axle ratio), but I do have eTorque. I might have a 500+ mile trip coming later this month, and I think I'll get a better feel for the economy (or lack thereof) at that time. The truck needs to be broken in, too!

For every 10% of ethanol, mileage goes down 4%. At 16mpg on good 100% gasoline, a typical 10% blend gives 15.36. If you use 15%, which is pump gas here in Missouri, you get 15.04.

My current 20.7 would be 21.94 if we had 100% gas.

The Rutter's they just put in by us has non ethonal gasoline.

Any recommendationson running this instead of the E10 or E15 as they call it...also have flex fuel there.

So far that has been my experience too. I just returned from a Dallas area to Austin area round trip and got 16ish on the way down and 18 on the way back. I'm blaming the 3.92 gears since my 2015 GMC 6.2 got 21 down and up several times. I'll take the gears over the miles though

I had two 4th gen Ram 1500s ( 2010 & 2014 ) with 3.92 gears and was always able to get better than 18 around town. Hand calculated, I hit 24 MPG once and between 20-22 MPG many times on trips driving state roads, 55 MPH. I'm betting you are driving above 65 MPH. Even my 2014 with the eight speed transmission saw the gas milege go crashing down over 65.

The best MPG without getting run over is rural roads at 55. Here are the results of a study of mpg vs mph of various vehicles. 55 to 60 seems to be a sweet spot. The bottom brown line is a full size pickup. The rest are cars and a small SUV.

So far, I'm a little disappointed. My 17 with everything equal other than the Etorque got better MPG, the 19 is getting less? Just filled up for the first time. The eco light rarely comes on? For the first 200 miles I was thinking the new truck diddent have one. The 17 spent better than 50% of the time with the light on.

Eco is stupid. The 5.0 in the f150 gets far better mpg, sounds better, definitely quicker and doesn’t use the eco crap. It just doesnt make much sense why a brand new truck with this technology can’t get better mileage. The Rams are still way heavier than both GM and Ford I believe. I’m sure that has a lot to do with it.

They have the looks inside and out and the ride that is for sure. I would love to drop the 5.0 in my Ram. It would really wake this truck up!
