Is it possible to add Blind Spot?

BUT, i cannot find anything similar to that 2nd last one pictured, "Veh Config 7 - Active Blindspot Present" in JScan...
That’s a meaningless setting for ram trucks, and does not need to be set (it’s not set on a factory equipped ram).

Modules chassis network?

I'll check it oooot. Tho i wish a lot of these acronyms were a little more wordish. haha

oh ok great, thank you sir!

any thoughts on that BSMO setting that @djevox found in his screen shot above?

(thats just out of curiosity tho since my system is working...)

I don’t have that option enabled by default, but it also says my taillight modules aren’t already activated when they are. I bet if I somehow downloaded an image of the BCM configs, it would show enabled.

Btw, I did all my programming with alfaobd and tonight was my first time looking at Jscan.

Yeah this is my first day actually using Jscan, but early on, (like soon after becoming a member) I read thru that AlfaOBD thread and JScan seems very limited in comparison for what it can see and do. e.g. i can't find any settings that deal with the heated seat material type, and no mention of the heated steering wheel at all let alone that material type. But thats just my issue as we are a mac/iPhone fam so I'll just have to get used to it.

I also just noticed these 2 settings on Jscan that i had not seen before,
IMG_9943.PNG
and didn't touch them and my system works as expected, SO, i wonder if they are related to the mirror lights for the bsm.... which would be confusing because i also do have the "Doors - blind spot mirror present" right where its sposta be (left it off for now tho)

I believe those are simplified options that alias to the proper bcm setting. I saw that in a couple different menus.

annnnd that would mean...? 😅

like translate that into 8th grade reader level... you know.. for a friend... I of course understood that completely. 🤣

The only reason for the same setting to be in two different menus is for ease of use- otherwise, setting it in one menu would conflict with the other. That is terrible from a programming perspective. The way it would have to work is that any change to that item in any menu would change the setting for that item in all menus (from a user interface perspective). That may be why you’re not seeing all the options that you see in alfaobd. Kind of like how the tazer only gives an option for blind spot on/off, where it’s actually flipping bits on multiple configuration items. That probably is more confusing than the first explanation, lol

Hahahhaha actually no, THAT I got. Thanks.

That makes sense tho. When I hook up to it next time I’ll check all of those items in their current state and see what they say. I bet you’re correct tho.

Hey i'm sorta rounding the corner on this mod... did you ever end up doing the mirror part? if so how'd it go?
Yes, completed. I'm getting a "BSM Temporarily unavailable" message after the install. I've been too busy to go back and see what may be wrong.

Yeah I’m having some (should be) unrelated issues too now. (But they’re probably gonna be related. )

My rear parking sensors (only at the corners) are not working now. And I noticed it right after programming the blind spot stuff. So idk if I just noticed it then, or it it happened sooner but it DEFINITELY used to alert me for stuff off to the sides when backing into something. Now it’s only if it’s dead middle behind me.

Pain in the @$$ cuz now if I have the dealer investigate the problem they’re gonna gimme $h!t for messing with the computiz.

Something interesting I found are these Chinese knock-off and near-identical LED tail lights. I bought them on eBay for under $600 for the pair. The tail light harness for the halogen tail lights plug directly into these. There is a thin, cheap adhesive flap on the back covering the hole where the blind spot modules would go. There is the proper wiring harness for the blind spot module, and it connects as it should. The heat sinks line up perfectly with the mounting screw locations on the tail lights but from what I can tell, they are not threaded. I used some small screws roughly the size of the hole and it was a secure fit. I got new seals for the heat sinks—this helped seal that square hole for sure. I don’t know what the inside of the OEM tail lights look like, but there seem to be some circuit boards exposed in these Chinese ones. Can’t imagine how long they would last for someone who didnt seal up the blindspot hole properly, because that adhesive cover isn’t worth a damn. They also don’t come with a foam gasket like my halogens have around the edge. I used butyl tape around them like I did my third brake light when it leaked.

The funny thing is they aren’t even advertized as being blind spot capable, yet they have the blindspot wiring. However, I haven’t been able to test the blindspot function yet. I bought the harness from Jimmy07 a long time ago and seem to have misplaced it. Once I find it I’m installing that and turning it on with alfaobd. Curious to see what happens. If it works, it would be a great option for people who want to save some money. More than 50% savings on the LED tail lights and no jumpers required.

EDIT 8/23/22: It works! Snipped wire #8 on the driver’s side harness on the truck and taped it up. Everything functions as it should.

Nice dude!!! I actually saw those and messaged the seller and he couldn’t give me a str8 answer so I wasn’t gonna take the chance since even as a savings it’s a big price tag if it didn’t work out. Near as I could tell tho, appearance wise the only thing those are missing is the “RAM” on the black blind spot cover. (And the foam gaskets). So good to know.

That said, they look great, and it sounds like erythang fits so good work! The factory ones also have a bunch of exposed boards. I nicked one of mine and rendered the whole light useless

So I bought another one and continued. All up and running now minus the mirrors. But imma take a break before I tackle that one.

ok so speaking of my progress... in getting where i am now i have had to acquire a few extra parts, some by mistake, and some to get another part i needed that was attached to a part i didn't need, i have ended up with a few spare items. At current, with my system fully working (but without the mirror lights) i can now part with the rest of these spares to try and make some money back.

** update ** all spare parts I had have sold. Didn’t want to leave this message hangin.

Ok so this was very cool to see happen. I’ve read stuff here about this but never looked into it cuz I don’t tow all that much anymore and just have a little 5x8 Utility trailer.

But the blind spot with trailer kicked on today and the within 2 turns had the right size for my trailer. Unexpected and super cool.

You have to be in tow mode for that to happen?

Do you have to have a trailer hooked up to see the setting in Uconnect? I don't have the trailer auto/max length option under my Blind Spot setting.

So that I actually don’t know. I don’t have a setting for that either. My blind spot setting just shows off, on lights and sound, on sound.

And I didn’t stop and look for settings when I had the trailer on. I’ll try to do that next time I hook it up. I’m curious too now.

I have a 2021 Laramie cab and chassis , i already have 360 camera and power folding working, What i need is a diagram of how to run the wires directly from the sensors to the cab as i do not have the plug under the seat.
