intermittent humming noise and vibration

Mark/Customer Care Rep,

My wife will be taking the truck to the dealer tomorrow morning. I called the Dealership earlier in the day and spoke to a service writer. The writer said they were not aware of any mds issue or reported noise like described. I told them that is was a known issue that I had read on some of the boards online. They were oblivious. At less than 3k miles there shouldn't be any issues with the truck. I was giving Dodge/Ram another shot with this purchase and I hope that I will not be regretting it.

I will post after the visit to the dealer. If no resolve can be attained from the visit I am hoping that they can at least turn the MDS feature off in the system.

Regards,
Rev98

Thank you for taking the time to follow up with me, I look forward to seeing your next update. I am more than willing to escalate a case on your behalf for further support through the service process.

I have a 2019 1500 that also has this issue. I saw 1 post of a TSB does anyone have a link to that?
my issue, which doesn't appear while at the dealership so they "can't do anything", 1 out of maybe 100 starts and it hums very loudly, usually goes away if I shut it off and restart. AND when I coast at speed over 65 I get a hum that comes and goes in 3 to 5 second intervals.
does anyone have a success story? any advise for getting the dealer to fix this?

I apologize for the trouble, @fdpded. If you would be willing to send over your VIN via private message, I am happy to look into whether there any TSBs associated to your VIN for this concern. We are also more than willing to escalate a case on your behalf for further support as you address this with your dealer.

I successfully purchased a bypass cable and disabled the ANCIMG_20200826_074039.jpg

Hi, I just bought a new Ram 1500 Big Horn with 4600 miles on it and it has a nearly identical problem. The intermittent noise seems similar to a 60 cycle hum in electrical power systems. It started at about 30 miles an hour and lasts about 15 seconds then stops for about 15 seconds and repeats. So, when I pull over, I put it in park, shut the engine off, open the door to stop all electrics and close it again. I start it up, no change from 2wd, and drive off. It's gone. Went home and put 40 psi in the 18 inch tires because one of the TPMS right front wheel registered below 31 psi. Have not tried it yet today but will.
I also have the same problem. I have 1200 miles on the truck and the internal noise can be very annoying driving down the road. When the truck is driving on the flats, it seems to

Hi Lydia, I also just experienced this tonight on my 2019 ram 1500. It’s a very concerning sound that is more pronounced as the truck shifts up or down. I would call it more of a “roar” or a pulsating hum than anything else. More pulsating than steady. This is the first I heard this since purchasing the truck in September. It almost feels like it’s pullimg back against the acceleration.
Hi Lydia,
I also would like to report the exact same problem as stated by markport. The noise is terribly annoying and as the truck cruises down the road, the vibration and noise come and go on a regular basis. Uphill, no issues...on the flats and downhill is when the problems occur most frequent. Noise can show up at 35 mph up to 70 mph. Overall, truck is great, but the noise is SO disappointing. Would appreciate some direction on how to resolve the problem.

Know this is late but look at my post in this thread above:

I have a 2019 4th gen Ram 1500 2wd quad cab. bought in june 2020. Have the exact same sound with low pitch humming and vibrations at low RPMs but doesnt really matter the speed. I thought i noticed something funny after i bought it, came with only 450km. it comes and goes. its very apparent now at 20,000 km everytime i drive. drives me nuts. first it was the pedal. now the steering and the seat. looking to take it to the dealer this week. i dont think i will have much success.

I have a 2019 Ram 1500 Rebel and have experienced the same problem with the intermittent humming noise and vibration of the truck. Its difficult to pin down and the service department always states they can't repeat the issue so there is nothing they can do. It's loud and annoying and is it possibly impacting fuel economy? The service dept mentioned mds and just driving in tow / haul mode all the time. Really?

I have the same problem with my 2019 Ram 1500. I called the dealer and they hadn't heard it yet, but when it started I drove it straight to the dealer so they could hear it. They didn't know what causes it and referred it up to Chrysler. Yesterday I received a phone call from the dealer. Seems Chrysler has now said this is normal and comes from the Noise Cancellation Module intermittingly. I am now considering getting rid of the truck as it is very loud and the doors vibrate badly.

I would ask them to verify that your ANC module is at the latest revision.
I have this exact same problem (intermittently) when I first got my truck and they performed the update and it has never occurred since.

I had this same issue. There is a fix for it which included the computer module update.

I called the dealer and they said since Chrysler says this is a normal function of the module there is nothing they can do. There are no updates to be done at this point.

I have this problem also and ive read through most of these complaints it all sounds familiar to mine and still no resolve

Just bought a 2020 RAM Classic 1500. Only on the highway I get almost a pulsating, rhythmic, sound and slight vibration. Took it to the dealer and they balanced the tires. Called them back and no return call yet. Is this the same as everyone else? Thanks

Sounds like ANC feedback noise. They can/should fix it.
