How to get radio update files

Currently on 39.7 w/ off road pages from factory. Can I attempt to upgrade to 40.1? Would REALLY like Wi-Fi to work.
Since you have off road pages from factory, you don’t lose them, regardless of radio updates or vehicle line. It’s those who try to activate them because they weren’t factory equipped that need to worry about this.

Hello

You will need to get an update file for your region. The current update is probably US only.

How is this update different from the OTA one that happens? Does this one do US NA maps as well?

Edit: Looks like it updates the maps as well. My App version is usa-sbx-12.1-pr-40.12.0-20220930-psfrm. Is my App version the latest? Uconnect is telling me theres a map update I can purchase...

I tried the update yesterday and all day today. My ucconect system is the 12 inch screen in my 2020 Ram 2500 Laramie.

I have the LR34 system. I tried to do the PR39.9 update and now all I get is the Error Code 20. The screen will not reset or go back to normal. I had to disconnect the batteries due to the screen continuously running when off.

Any help would greatly be appreciated..

I have 2019 with 12" screen. Mine had to be replaced I believe in 2021. Does anyone know why these were faulty and had issues. It was a 1400 dollar replacement. Luckily I still had the warranty. Curious if the new screens have had to be replaced as well. Thanks

It's a piece of electronics. Things happen. Haven't had any issues with my 2020. The % of the faulty ones is low compared to the ones with little to no issues.

It is definitely not low. Everyone I see that has the 12 inch complains everytime and I have met a lot of individuals that have had theirs replaced.

My dad had his replaced as well. So the percentage seems high. I know this is a forum and everyone comes here with questions and answers. I would think they have gotten better b/c it seemed to be a problem. I really like the 12" screen. Sadly if it takes a crap again it would be nice if there was an aftermarket screen to purchase but there is none to my knowledge. I haven't updated mine since its been replaced.

There's the Phoenix, reviewed in another thread:
13.6-inch Phoenix Radio Review
I have no personal experience with it.

I got the 8" display on mine because I didn't want to have to rely on touch screen for important stuff like HVAC. It was the right choice for me...

Do we know who approves the downloads on the upgrades here? I have a couple questions to some problems I’m having.

Even with the 12" display, there are still physical buttons to control the HVAC.

You can control some of it but not much. Even the temp control goes into the screen despite being physical buttons and you can only do auto or defrost settings and don't even get me started on no heated seat physical button. Can't even keep the digital button for heated seat in the same position on the screen as it changes depending what screen you are on.

You can control everything with the physical buttons on the side that you can with the knobs on the smaller display center stack. Yes, the modes, temp, and stuff display in the screen when making the changes, but the buttons still do everything.

And I have no issues with the UC4 and keeping the heated seats/steering wheel, as standard icons on bottom of screen.

You can't change the modes on UC5 with the 12 inch as there are no physical buttons for anything except auto and front defroster.
The heated seats are also on the top cornor of the screen, but if you are on the climate page it disables the buttons in the cornors (despite them still being the same icon).

With the 8 inch you can change the temp juat by touching a knob and not looking, same with the heated seats and modes.
The 12 inch went backwards with hvac controls 100%.

I'm willing bet they could of made most of the buttons fit on the 12 inch.
Why do I have digital switches for parking sensors but not heated seats for example? Or maybe programmable switches instead of the hardcoded ones now. They just want to save money and are trying to integrate it all onto the screen and seeing how much they can get away with imo.

I have the 12” UC5, and there is a physical mode button, and it cycles through all of the hvac modes.

But, since I just use auto, all of the hvac arguments regardless of screen size are moot to me, since there’s no reason for me to ever have to look at the the climate screen or mess with the hvac controls.
