HOW TO: Add Digital Rearview Mirror

My BCM is 2021. I wonder if a 2023 will have that option in the BCM.
you won’t see it unless you choose 2023 body computer to connect to. Make sure the box for do not verify ECU is checked in the alfaobd settings.

the ecu box is not checked but when pressing 2023 it says my 2021

the ecu box is not checked but when pressing 2023 it says my 2021
That’s why you have to check the box that says “do not verify ECU”, so it doesn’t automatically connect as a 2021 when you try connecting as a 2023

You were right, I found it but in 2022 the bcm 2023 does not show anything to change or enable the cameras

Here are the instructions for installing the digital rearview mirror in the RAM.

Part List:
Mirror with 1 Video Input Channel, no FCW or ACC - 68448639AB

Mirror with 1 Video Input Channel, with FCW or ACC - 68448641AB

Mirror with 2 Video Input Channel, no FCW or ACC - 68519111AA

Mirror with 2 Video Input Channel, with FCW or ACC - 68519222AA

Center high mounted stop lamp with camera - 68551077AB

10' Fakra Z - Female to Female

Parts if you have a 2019/2020:
2021+ BCM - 68496414AD
Wiring Harness from Jimmy07

You only need one of the mirrors. Just choose the one that fits your vehicle and if you want to have 2 inputs or not. You only need the 2 inputs if you plan on adding another camera like cargo, trailer, etc. For the 2019/2020 you will need a 2021+ BCM and the wiring harness from Jimmy07. You can get a used one from a junkyard. You can then stash this under the driver's side dash or the front seats.

Installation is fairly simple. Replace the CHMSL with the new one. Run the cable in the headliner from it to the mirror. Replace the mirror with the new one. Connect the mirror, truck and BCM using the wiring harness. Start the truck and enjoy your new mirror.

2019/2020s will lose auto dimming side mirrors. You can swap your BCM for a later new one (not used), but you would need the dealer to restore your configuration. If you swap it yourself, you'd need to do it at the dealer because it won't work right until the restore is done.

For 2021+, use AlfaOBD to set the following settings for auto dim mirrors to work.

LIN & Misc: CRVMM Present to NO

CBC Config I/O Usage: RVDM Present to YES

Curious if you lose any other factory features other than the dimming side mirrors?

Hoping to get some help with this. I have a 2021 1500 Bighorn, without FCW or ACC (no DASM). I previously installed the LED CHMSL with camera and ran the 10' Fakra. I just got a great deal on a DRVM on eBay but it is 68448641AB, which I understand is the version for FCW and ACC. I know that my factory cover for the non-digital rearview mirror won't fit with this version of the mirror. Does anyone know the model number of the new cover that will be needed? Will it just clip in place of the old one?

I'm also concerned that the windshield is different on vehicles with the DASM as they need the cut out for the camera, so I'm slightly worried that if I change the cover over to the larger one the, back side of the cover might be visible from the front of the vehicle looking into the truck (not sure if this makes sense).

On a separate note, will having the DRVM 68448641AB allow me to enable automatic high beams? I've read on other threads that it requires a "different mirror with a camera" so not sure if that will work. I'm not looking to add FCW or ACC, but if I could get the auto high beams to work without additional parts, that would be a bonus.

Thanks!

I don't know on the cover, but the windshield is different for vehicles with the DASM. It is outlined in the adding ACC thread. You should still be about to enable the auto high beam.

What’s the best option to add in the cargo camera option on my 25 limited that has the digital mirror already?

I have my original non-dasm cover over the DRVM, kind of just snug with a zip tie for the time being..the DASM cover is much larger and attached to glass clips, which the non-dasm glass does not provide

Thank you both for your reply.

Mike, did you use the 68448641AB DRVM (with FCW and ACC)? If I can use my old cover and not have to get a new one that would be best case scenario. I've seen in some videos that the DASM covers do have these clips on the windshield that you mentioned, so not sure how I would hold that to my non-DASM windshield.

Does the way you have yours attached now seem secure enough to leave it long term? Do you think theres a way to modify (using a Dremel or something?) to make the old cover fit better?

I'm wanting to complete this setup but a little curious how difficult it is to run the cable through the headliner if you have a sunroof.

I have the it and it was easy. Just run it from the back and along the driver's side and then to the mirror.

Hoping for some clarity here. I have read thru all 19 pages/370+ post to trying to understand what all is needed to install this mirror.

I have a ‘24 2500 Power Wagon, that has the 12” radio and the 360 camera view, forward camera, cargo camera, tailgate camera and parking sensors. It doesn’t have the ACC or Forward Collision. All cameras are viewed thru the radio display.

Can I add the mirror w/2 inputs for the tailgate camera and add another for a trailer camera? I don’t want to use the cargo camera since I have a camper shell on. Would I just need to run two new cameras and keep current setup with the radio?

Thanks in advance.

With the digital mirror 3.0 you can add up to 4 cameras and if you are looking for it I sell them complete as a kit

Ok, but how does that work with the existing cameras and radio? Would it all run separately?

No. You need what is outlined in the first post. Or you need to make modifications to use the cameras for this mirror.

But it doesn't work on all vehicles. The side cameras on the 1500s point more down. HDs are different. And this is the 5th Gen 1500 Rams site so the info on here pertains to that. I just want to clarify that.
