HOW TO: Add Digital Rearview Mirror

Well i found the topic here where you helped as well.
So wiring that processor and hooking it up will make my DRVM and Cargo cam working

For that mirror and camera, you can’t plug the camera directly into the mirror. You need the rear view mirror camera processor that goes under the driver seat.
Also. I did buy this kit 68527709ad intended for trailer. You think i can use the cameras to add the surround view on my Ram?
Thank you

Any idea, what for this part shown on the pict? Mine has small scratch, just wandering if any influence to the function

That is just an empty spot behind it. Some models I guess have the cargo camera installed.

Never really wanted digital mirror, but $500 for the mirror+CHML on ebay was a steal, my last upgrade was more then 2 years ago, I decided to go ahead. Running the cable under the weatherstrip was very easy, for the last 3 feet to the lamp good fishing wire is essential. Was not so easy to remove old lamp. Dealer fixed the leak from CHML 2 years ago by removing the original seal and using very strange sealant, was a mess to remove and clean this junk. Plug&play installation. Resolution is just OK, not so good at night.

I wonder if there is something wrong with your cable. Mine is clear and the resolution is great even at night.

Cable seems to be OK, I have a filling that display resolution not even 1080P, seems to be 480P, like in cheap smartphones. Anybody knows what is the real resolution? can't find this information.

I could see the woman behind me picking her nose.

Parts if you have a 2019/2020:
2021+ BCM - 68496414AD
Wiring Harness from Jimmy07

You only need one of the mirrors. Just choose the one that fits your vehicle and if you want to have 2 inputs or not. You only need the 2 inputs if you plan on adding another camera like cargo, trailer, etc. For the 2019/2020 you will need a 2021+ BCM and the wiring harness from Jimmy07. You can get a used one from a junkyard. You can then stash this under the driver's side dash or the front seats.

Installation is fairly simple. Replace the CHMSL with the new one. Run the cable in the headliner from it to the mirror. Replace the mirror with the new one. Connect the mirror, truck and BCM using the wiring harness. Start the truck and enjoy your new mirror.

2019/2020s will lose auto dimming side mirrors. You can swap your BCM for a later new one (not used), but you would need the dealer to restore your configuration. If you swap it yourself, you'd need to do it at the dealer because it won't work right until the restore is done.

For 2021+, use AlfaOBD to set the following settings for auto dim mirrors to work.

LIN & Misc: CRVMM Present to NO

CBC Config I/O Usage: RVDM Present to YES
Does Jimmy have a website or how do I contact him for the purchase?

So a digital mirror from 2500 or 3500 won’t work in 1500? I have found someone selling a digital mirror from 21 3500 locally but want to confirm before i go pick it up. Thanks.

I installed the 2500 dual input mirror in my 2021 1500 and it works with no problems. Prior to 2021, you may need a BCM upgrade.

BTW, I have the original, single input mirror for sale if anyone is interested.

I replaced my single input mirror so I could install a camera on my bed rack. It works great, even in the heavy rain from Helene. I mounted the second camera, in a make shift box, under my bed rack bars to shield it from the rain and also to prevent glare from the sun. While my front, backup, and side cameras were distorted from rain drops on the lenses, the rear view is crystal clear.

To clarify, I installed part 68519222AA (dual input with FCW/ACC), which is listed as a 2500/3500 part number. This replaced my stock 68448641AB (single input with FCW/ACC). It works perfectly, and looks basically identical to my stock mirror once installed.

The single input mirror (68448641AB) is the one I have for sale for $400 if anyone is interested.

Quick question, is there a way to use the single input mirror to hook up a second camera with a Farka switch to select either camera? Should be doable.

Has anyone installed the digital mirror 3.0 that you can have up to 4 cameras?

The 3.0 mirror works on a 1500 but I don't know what else needs to be activated in AlfaOBD for the side and trailer cameras. I had to replace the third stop light camera with the one from a 2500 23-24 and place it where the other one was.

The setting that activates the 3.0 mirror side cameras is CBC Config I/O Usage: RVDM 4Camera Config.
Not sure if a 1500 bcm will even broadcast that setting.

My BCM is 2021. I wonder if a 2023 will have that option in the BCM.
