How to: Add Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane assist, FCW & Auto Hi-beam to Ram 1500

Congrats man! Let me know if you like it, I'm tempted on doing this as my next project.

On the subject of trolls, I agree it's kind of funny how some people lecture you for asking a simple question and would prefer you instead pore through a 60 page thread filled with outdated and inconsistent advice.
Yeah. it's a bummer folks react that way. I put the ACC on a buddy's truck. We experimented with that part number - someone else had luck with it as well. Here in Michigan, the speed limits on the freeway are <65 or >80 so those that are just trying to get up north safely cannot stand the constant jabbing of the brakes then whacking the gas over and over again. The set it and forget it mentality reigns supreme in this scenario. If you are going to use it, that is a great option to have.

I have read several pages of this thread, unfortunately this modification is a bit over my head.

With that said, I have a 2023 Ram 1500 Laramie which already has Full-Speed-Forward-Collision-Warning-Plus, Rain Sensing Wipers, Ready Alert Braking, and Auto High Beam. Also has the 12" Uconnect 5.

I would love to add adaptive cruise and lane keep assist. If anybody within reasonable driving distance from Missouri ZIP 65584 has the skills/experience to do this, I would be happy to pay you well.

I was told by MOPAR Parts and Accessories - Save up to 40% to order:

68415320AA - HCU
68436462AL - ABS

The ABS part is different than what has been discussed on this thread. Can someone please verify if these are OK. I have a 2021 Rebel with FCW+ and already has the DASM.

tks a lot!
Make sure you order what is here if possible. They will probably ask for your VIN, do not give it. Otherwise, you will be getting replacements.

I did not provide VIN but they blocked the order and had me call in to confirm VIN. I got the "fair warning" this part is not for you etc and if you still order you wont be able to return. I told them to proceed and that I knew what I am doing. Lets hope they send what I ordered. It should be verifiable from the packing list when it arrives I hope because the part of the truck itself has no way to tell what the SKU code is. (as many others have noted earlier)

Actually, I just looked at the PDF and you ordered the parts that are listed on there, so you should be good.

lol. Vincent I am a noob but before asking Qs - I made sure I read every post and every PDF ever posted so you have me stumped (albeit pleasantly). Which PDF do you refer to. The original one and subsequently updated PDF list 68436462AJ for the ABS. I ordered 68436462AL for ABS. lmk pls tks

The PDF in the first post. The last two alpha characters are just revision numbers. So, those are the same ABS part numbers.

I recently completed the ACC mod in my 23 Limited, and this thread was invaluable!! Thank you to all!! One question, since the mod, every time I start the truck I get a message in the cluster that says "ACC Cruise Control OFF". Is this normal operation, or did I miss an Alpha setting?

I only get that when I turn it off via the button. I never get it on startup. Shouldn't be an issue, but you can run through all the settings again.

I have a 2022 limited that has Full-Speed-Forward-Collision-Warning-Plus, Rain Sensing Wipers, Ready Alert Braking, and Auto High Beam. Also has the 12" Uconnect 5. I also want to install ACC and Lane keep assist. I notice the thread has a lot of different information and results. Can someone point me in the direction for how to do this please. Thanks in advance

It's all listed in the second post.

The following is to be used as a guide on how to install ACC, FCW, Lane Assist, Auto High Beam headlights and rain-sensitive wipers in your 5th Gen Ram 1500, also known as the Advanced Safety Group. I’ve also included a guide at the end of this document on how to install blind spot monitoring. Obviously, I cannot guarantee this will work on your truck, but I am confident it will. I was able to install all these features on my 2019 Ram Lonestar which originally came with an 8.4" Non-Nav Unit with Dual Climate control. I believe this can be activated on any 5th Gen, but I’m literally the first person to have done this (that I am aware of) so it’s possible there are unknown variables that will prevent activation. This install is for those that have experience with AlphaOBD and assumes you are familiar with basic terms and procedures. It is not advised to do this as your first project, but you are free to do as you want. I believe this to be a mostly complete guide, but I wrote this from memory after 8 months working on this project so some things might have slipped through the cracks. Big thanks to all those involved along the way.

The purpose of this thread is not to debate "if it's worth it" or to discourage others from spending their money how they want. Everyone has different opinions on this. I took this project on as a personal challenge to see if it was even possible and with a larger goal in mind than just these stock features.

That is awesome. I wondered if I could add ACC to my truck. It is the only thing missing from my safety package.

Can anyone in Houston can perform this task on ram limited 2022? Willing to compensate well

Well, I mine as well keep rolling with the mods, after successfully completing the 360 surround, and ACC, thanks to the amazing help of this forum!! Going to add the LKA and Park assist. I have a 23 Limited and just want to confirm the part #s listed early in the thread will work for a 23? the location of the park assist module? I'm planning on using 68526598AC for the center stack? And finally do I need the extra 2 front sensors, mine already has 6 in the front. TIA for the help.

You will need the outboard sensors (ones on the side) because they are different for semi-auto park. Everything else should be the same.

I've written a how to on it already.

So I'm still having the issue, of "ACC is Off" showing up in the cluster everytime I start the truck. I've also found it says it everytime I turn standard cruise on or off. Is it possible there's a standard cruise setting I need to change? I went through all Alpha ODB changes in the first post, and all are correct.

Thank you for the detailed instructions on adding these features to a RAM 1500. I have everything I need to start the process except the wiring harness that goes from the rearview mirror to the CANBUS under the dash. I know you have instructions on building a harness, but I would like to buy one if possible. Do you happen to have a part number for the harness?
