Hard-wire Dash Cam Install

Yes...you select the exact voltage level you want your cut-off to be in the app. I have had this in a 2019 and a 2021 without a single issue. A dashcam does not draw enough power in parking mode to create an issue where your truck won't start. Again, happy to chat if you want to.
Sorry I didn't get back to this yesterday afternoon. Appreciate the info, and thanks for the offer. I'm likely going to be getting the pieces together, then might reach out if I have other questions.

Hey Larry . Thanks again for the time yesterday. You are a true gift of this forum. I have a question , I received my Thinkware U1000 dual camera but don't want to even open it. I am probably sending it back. I was looking at the one you recommended and it out of stock on Thedashcamstore. The other site has it but while on the dashcam store site it says it has been replaced by a new one.

BlackVue DR900X-2CH-PLUS Dual Lens 4K. Its about $100 but the sales guy said it has 4K and is the newest model, coming out around 9/20.

What do you think?
I also saw that it was out of stock with that link. I did do a search on Amazon, and it looks like it's available there too, same cost if i remember correctly as well.

The DR750X-Plus has not been replaced. The DR900 series is only a "recommendation" as a replacement while the DR750 is out of stock. I, personally, do not think that a 4K dash cam is necessary (or I would have bought one), but it is an option. You can also try www.blackboxmycar.com for availability of the DR750 series...it appears they do have them.

Feel free to PM me and we can chat via phone. If you just want quick answers...here they are:

1. Get a Blackvue DR750X-Plus 2CH
2. Buy a hardwire kit
3. Buy Micro2 fuse taps with 5A fuses off Amazon
4. Highly recommend parking mode as most accidents happened while parked (the DR750X has the parking mode voltage regulator built-in so no accessories needed)
5. F66 is IGNITION power & F33 is BATTERY

Buy this SD card regardless of which dash cam you buy:

Ok, So here's the cart. Anything I'm missing? Looks like the Blackvue DR750X-Plus 2CH comes with the hardwiring kit.

BlackVue DR750X-2CH
Micro2 Fuse Adapter
SAMSUNG ELECTRONICS EVO Select 256GB

What a week, I received everything on saturday, but just haven't had a couple hours to get it installed yet. I do have a question, on mounting location. I have my remote start antenna mounted just the right of my rear view mirror. I was thinking of mounting the BlackView to the left of it, with the mounting pad on the black dotted area. Is there an issue with this? The dashcam is a bit bigger than anticipated. Do any of you have pics of one mounted?

The camera should be mounted right behind the rear view mirror and below the plastic cover.

I'm just curious, doesn't that put it top to bottom in the middle of the windshield? If that's where I put it, it'll actually be below the rear view mirror.
No sir...you can barely see it while driving behind the rear view mirror.

Either I’m missing something, but I think my mirror sits lower than yours.

What trim do you have? I will take a pic of mine and post up. I have a bighorn buts it’s basically the same setup as securityguy
I have a big horn as well. 2019, but the trim behind the mirror is different.

@securityguy Thank you for all the guidance in this thread. For the Blackvue 900x and the cloud uploads, if I don’t get the LTE external module, does it still have it’s own way to upload to the cloud and also to show live streams? Assume I’m not near a WiFi hotspot while parked.

Trying to figure out how it works without a cellular/WiFi connection that I don’t specifically supply to it from my phone or home WiFi.

Do you have the Wi-Fi hot spot activated in your truck?
