Front end clunk while turning - FIXED - TSB # 23-047-18

Clunk report:
I think it's getting worse, seems like it's making noise in the floorboard closer to the center of the cab whereas the first few weeks it was only near the left of the cab. The clunk only happens when making a turn (left or right) that puts torque on the cab vs. the frame. Time to call the dealer.

Yes. It progressively gets worse. Starts out as oh what was that? Then it turns into you being obsessed because every turn of the steering wheel makes the noise. You can hear it really loud.

I expressed my thoughts on what I think is wrong.

I have the clunk also... just had the factory UCAs replaced with Ready Lifts UCA, 10x more solid than the factory part.. Still have the clunk! Based strictly of the number of people with this issue I hope enough people escalate it. It cant be good, and can only imagine what type of damage this is causing our trucks.. Damn shame to take a 60k truck home with issues on day #1.

And I have the dreaded clunk as well. Been fighting it since a week after purchase. It's been in twice, Tightened the shock mounts first time and re-aligned the body mounts the second. Clunk is lessened now but still there. It is good to know that I am not crazy and there are other people with the same issue. Oh and it's a 2019 Limited.

Hello druchala,

We completely understand your desire to reach a solution for this. Not sure if you've seen our posts to other forum members but we've been documenting this within our database for further review. Feel free to send me your VIN within a direct message.

I have a Rebel on order and due to be completed the end of this month, getting a little nervous with this clunk thing.. Should I put my order on hold until the factory can resolve the issue.

Absolutely not. I have the clunk on my new Limited and it's just a noise. I can deal with it just fine until a TSB comes out. It's really not that bad. Just remember they will fix it soon enough and you can forget about it. We aren't even into 2019 on a MY 2019 truck. I can only imagine FCA is testing a resolution to this issue in Michigan as we speak.

Just remember why you buy new... If something is broken, it will be fixed free of charge.

I wouldn't put it on hold. Not every truck has the clunk and not all clunks are necessarily the same.

Add me to the "CC" (clunk club).

2019 Ron Jeremy (Laramie) Sport e-torque.

Been in once, couldn't find anything. I'll be checking back here to find the fix. Thanks guys.

I have an appointment this Friday for the U92, Brake recall. I am going to question the Service Advisor to see if they have any insight as to the Clunk. Mine is not that bad. However if he is aware and have a fix I will do it. Otherwise I will wait for a TSB on this issue.

Please do. Its starting to drive me crazy... 3 weeks old, starting to hate the truck. Cant drive a mile without hearing it.. Reminds me of being young and having to crank the stereo to drown out things rattling..

As I said mine is intermittent. Sorry your problem is not less severe.

I'd love to hear of anyone who finds the source of the clunk.

Had my truck to the alignment shop today... told them about it.. They said 1 thing- no clunk is anything good happening to your truck.. they also said finding it wont be easy.

Like everyone else I'm hoping RAM or someone's service department finds and solves it.

@Icecold77 From another thread, I don't think @RamCares can see photos posted here (a security precaution?) Probably best to direct mail your VIN to them as requested to be sure you're on "the list."

The problem I have, is that most to all dealers near me are incompetent . I would not trust them to put air in the tires. Whenever I took in my current and previous Rams to the dealer for whatever reason, they either did not fix the issue or damaged my truck by giving me a door ding or a paint chip. I then end up fixing the issue on my own dime.

I'd like to be as transparent as possible with the forum. I didn't join to be told how to react or not to issues with my RAM. I'd imagine 99% of you didnt either. I came here for the advice that fellow owners have, and to listen and learn what I could. I've had more cars/trucks than most people- expensive habbit but have also experienced plenty of other brands, and how issues far smaller than this are addressed quickly for many reasons.
What surprises me is 600+ replies to this thread alone of people who spent their hard earned $$ on a truck with clearly an issue- yet many defend the brand as its normal? It's not- it's that simple. I know the CLUNK varies between each truck, some people dont seem to care (yet they posted about it) while others do. I'm here to learn, and hopefully when an issue like this comes up we do something about it. Not tell one another to not worry about it. I'm as direct as they get- if this thread has 600 replies how many 19 Ram owners are not part of this forum with the same problem??

Explain those of us with no clunk? Something obviously changed, parts supplier, bad run something.

Icecold77 , I agree with you as to the reasons why you are here.I feel the same. I am not defending FCA in this or any other issue, we all know as regular visitors here that there are a few. I , however don't feel the same urgency as some regarding this issue. I don't feel it is a saftey concern. or one that will leave me stranded on the side of the road . I am not comfortable with my dealer therefore I want to be sure the fix is final. This is my reason for my attitute towards an obvious flaw.
