Engine shutting down while driving

My truck starts just fine. No issues starting. Its when I put it in reverse or drive that it dies. Sometimes it will stay running long enough to go about50 yards, then die. As long as i dont put it in gear, it runs fine. It also runs (doesnt die while driving) fine when I hold in the start/stop button.
If your warranty is expired, I would just buy a new start button to see if that fixes the problem. Get the TRX button and if it doesn't work, you're only out $30 and you'll have a cool looking start button.

Cool. Thanks. Its a 2021 with only 8k miles.

2021 Ram 1500 Laramie Crew Cab, e-torque. The truck randomly turns off, happened to me once and my wife twice. When it shuts off the brake auto engages! As it should, but this shut off deal alot of people are experiencing is going to cause an accident. Of course the dealer can't find any codes, can't find any problems and cannot get the truck to stall on their 3 mile drive.
Dealer put in a new start switch. I don't think that's the issue though. We just had a long 2 days of rain and my back floor is wet on the passengers side all the way from the firewall to the front seat! It hasn't died again since I got it back, but I still think water is leaking in the back glass and getting in that RFH module on the back firewall. Got another appt for the 27th to check out the water leak.

Hopefully they will replace the glass and do a proper check on the modules behind the rear seat.

I would push on them to change the RFH module, if they are available at that time. They are back-ordered at my local dealers until March.

I have posted many times on this topic, but it is not acceptable that Ram has not done an exhaustive diagnosis on this topic and come up with a "COMPLETE" solution.

Changing the rear glass and "hoping" the issue does not come up again is ridiculous and dangerous.

I've had all 3 TSP updates on my '22 1500 Rebel with 5.7 eTorque. Truck stalled again this morning turning onto a busy street with my two young boys.

I am sure it was scary.

Did you check for a leak in your rear window??

When they did the updates, did they check for anything else, like the RF Hub??

Has anyone had this issue resolved? It happened to me for the first time today on my 2021 limited while I was taking my kid to school. Thankfully it happened in the neighborhood, and not on the main road. Same as everyone else, slow turn right at a stop sign and the engine cut out then the emergency brake came on.

I cannot leave my truck at the dealership for an extended period because the local dealership will not issue me a loaner vehicle since I bought it before moving to this area.

I had a water leak on my '14 RaM when my truck turned 2y.o., exactly the same happened with my '21. In both cases the reason was the gasket for the 3d brake light. It's a simple issue, but RaM is not learning. On top of the problem with the cheap gasket, they made a bad design of the rear window.

This thread is seven pages long now and I don't think anyone here has had their problem resolved.

I have posted on in this thread and others on this topic and I have not found a resolution to the problem.

I scheduled an appointment with another dealership and I am hoping they are able provide some guidance on the issue.

At a minimum, I want them to change the RF Hub. These have been on back-order for 3 months.

I think many of us are anxious to see if someone has been able to find a resolution this this problem before someone is seriously injured.

2021 Limited 5.7L etorque. Happened to my wife and I thought “nah doesn’t make sense wtf is she talking about”
Low and behold she’s coming to a stop and the damn thing dies and then auto parks itself throwing us all forward.
It did it again after that but there’s no way to replicate it and I’m shocked there are 7 pages and no one has yet to receive a response or solution from Ram.
I am in the process of trading her ‘21 Limited by the end of the week. I loathe taking her truck in for service because of how long the dealership needs to keep her truck just to diagnose the problem and then to fix it another week.
No loaner car either which is hilarious given the price of these vehicles and more-so if you own a TRX.
Will be buying from Sewell and likely buy a GMC these games with these half rate dealers is infuriating.

Someone within Ram/Stellantis needs to elevate this eTorque issue to corporate engineering... My Rebel was in at the dealer 3x and they supposedly couldn't elevate it as a star case because they couldn't duplicate the issue... Ever, and there were no codes or parts they could replace under warranty to pay the tech for or to elevate it. Same as the last 7 or 8 pages of posts here and other threads on the forum from others indicate.
(Traded the truck back in for one without eTorque before a serious accident occured)

I had read some older threads on this issue around the net before buying my truck, but seeing that it is still happening on the '22's.....not confidence inspiring.

I haven't had a hiccup in my first thousand miles, but this is now in the back of my mind. Have a 6yr/125k extended warranty but that doesn't matter if I'm dead. Hopefully this issue gets resolved ASAP.

Just this afternoon this happened to me. I was at the light stopped and eTorque Start and stop applied. I lifted off the brake and engine would not start nothing happened. I pushed the pedal the truck started & jerked forward. Check engine light came on and Capital A with arrow circle around A was yellow with yellow !. Pulled over turned truck off and restarted check engine light stayed on and start stop feature does not work now.

well at least yours has a check engine so it should be easier to fix, vs most no check engine nor codes
