Sorry to hear that. Anything in common with the first time it happened?

In both cases I was slowing down. It wasn't a hard deceleration either that would have caused the truck to pitch, etc. The first time I was coming to a stop at a light, and the second I was taking a hard right turn. That's the only similarity that I can find.

So, did you have the dealer take a look? This is not a trivial matter.

Agreed, but my work schedule hasn't allowed me the time to stop by the dealer. I will mention it when she goes in for her 1st oil change though!

Hey, just wondering what happened with your truck? This happened to me back in August and my truck spent 3 days in the dealership until it was up and running, and it happened again 2 days ago and now the engine light is on. Truck is currently sitting in dealership parking lot until Monday. Any clue what may be going on?

I had a similar problem with my old Chevy Tahoe with the 5.3. It would stall under hard steering and idle. Was going nuts trying to figure out what the problem was. Cleaned the intake, ran fuel system cleaners through it...nothing seemed to work. Then one day the engine coolant sensor went nuts with all kinds of warnings that the engine was overheating. I replaced the engine coolant sensor and the stalling problem went away with it. The sensor must have been screwing up the air:fuel mix which caused the stall when the power steering was taxed at idle RPM.

My 2019 Ram 1500 died at a stop light on my way home from work today. It didn't shake or stutter or stall. It just shut off. Not very happy right now. It started right up and I made it home with no issues.

Hello tosmith50,

We're sorry to hear about this unexpected concern with your 1500. Are you planning on visiting the dealer to get an official inspection? Send us a direct message with your VIN if we can be of any assistance with that process.

This has happened to my wife's 2019 1500 twice now. Both times while slowing down. Also, two other times while slowing down, the A/C turned off completely for about 30 seconds and then came back on. Been to the dealership and they couldn't recreate the problem and there were no errors recorded, so they state that there are no issues. Not happy about this.

Did anyone make any progress on finding a cause? We're considering opening a case with Chrysler due to the potential safety concerns.

When I went back to the dealer they said that they had never heard of this happening. They ran some scans and didn't find any codes, so there wasn't anything that they could do. I haven't had the issue happen again, but I have also had 3 recalls done (bad ground, brake pedal fix and reflash of the ECM) so it might have gotten fixed in one of those ...

I have had the A/C issue you mention multiple times now and now the first time the truck just shut off while backing up. I haven't taken it to the dealer yet because of this very thing you are talking about. They won't be able to replicate and then it will be a big waste of time. However, I do know @RamCares is willing to assist, just don't know in what way they can help. Guess I'll find out.

My dealer is ordering a new blower motor for my truck. I have had it shut off about 10 times in the past year. They ordered it last week.

Just wondering if anyone else has had their 2019 simply die? It's happened to me twice now. The last time it happened, I was decelerating to take a right turn at an intersection. As I rolled through the turn, the engine just quit. I had to coast to the side of the road, put it in park and then restart the truck. I didn't notice anything out of the ordinary. Once it restarted it ran fine. I was at the point where I was going to get gas the next day (I had a little over 1/4 tank) but doubt that was the issue. I also do not have the stop/start option.

Thoughts?
Yes, this has happened to me four times since delivery (Nov '18). Decelerating, preparing to stop for a turn or light. Engine and almost all electronics just quits, no warning. The "Run" light on the start button stays lit, but nothing else. To restart, have to press start button twice (once to shut off, again to start), starts right up and everything returns to normal. Very disturbing, especially since no one knows why its happening, or exactly when it will happen again. Build date = 9/25/18. All recalls are up to date. Reported problem to dealer. No codes set. Not repeatable, so they found no problem. Told me they searched manufacturer information and didn't find any reports. Said that low oil pressure would shut engine off, but if that was happening it would have set a code (it didn't) and oil level and pressures checked out fine. Don't know what to do next. Any suggestions appreciated. @RamCares ?

Hi WoodCountry,
We understand how concerning this may be. Being that this happens intermittently, it does make it difficult for your dealer to properly diagnose. With that said, please send us a private message if you plan to return to your dealer for further inspection and we'll gladly assist with that process.

One thing I would ask the dealership is if there is an option to attach a laptop or some device to the computer system so it can take log files of the vehicle.
This would almost certainly give a good clue as to what's going on.
On my old Mustang I could hook up the tuner and take logs, load onto laptop and examine them or send to American Muscle to review.

A loose electrical connection somewhere maybe with battery or ignition system could be a possibility, but moreso with ignition system b/c the vehicle retains ability to power electronics in some cases(not sure if E-Torque or not).
