Engine died twice now

Just wondering if anyone else has had their 2019 simply die? It's happened to me twice now. The last time it happened, I was decelerating to take a right turn at an intersection. As I rolled through the turn, the engine just quit. I had to coast to the side of the road, put it in park and then restart the truck. I didn't notice anything out of the ordinary. Once it restarted it ran fine. I was at the point where I was going to get gas the next day (I had a little over 1/4 tank) but doubt that was the issue. I also do not have the stop/start option.

Thoughts?

Sorry to hear of the issue. I’ve been on the forum since April and have not read of this exact issue. If you have the standard Hemi, you have start-stop.

Just curious, is there any reason you didn't put the gear selector knob into neutral and try restarting it while coasting? Is that even still possible with these modern, computerized vehicles?

I thought that option was only available with the mild hybrid Hemi? The engine doesn't shut off when I come to a stop normally, and I don't see the option listed when I am in the vehicle settings ..

Nope, no reason. I think I was more shocked about it dying and wanted to try to take in as much information as possible about what might have happened. I've never had this happen with any of the Ram's that I have had before.

You have the stop-start. It only comes on occasionally for me. You should have a switch to turn it off. It cycles back on each time you restart.

I also did not know this and had not seen anything indicating this on any of the forums. I’m guessing we learn something new everyday.

According to the owner's manual (snippet below), the start/stop is an option (probably associated with the eTorque engine). I don't have it listed on my window sticker either ..

STOP/START SYSTEM — IF EQUIPPED
The Stop/Start function is developed to save fuel and
reduce emissions. The system will stop the engine automatically
during a vehicle stop if the required conditions
are met. Releasing the brake pedal will automatically
restart the engine.

Vehicles equipped with eTorque contain a heavy duty
motor generator and an additional hybrid electric battery
to store energy from vehicle deceleration for use on engine
startup after a stop as well as providing launch torque
assist.

@356 we should clarify that you do have the start/stop with your non-etorqe hemi. (or is it something else).
this is becoming a confusing thread.

Per Ram, the STOP/START option is only available with the e-Torque system. It is not available with the standard Hemi engine.

I don't have an e-Torque, or the switch (as shown) for this option.

This is completely different and should not be confused with the Keyless Enter-N-Go ignition (the button you press to start the engine) ..

OP, how many miles do you have? I have not heard of one of these new 2019 stalling yet.

I'm a little over 7k right now. I'll mention it to the dealer when it goes in for it's oil change ..

Sorry to hear that. Anything in common with the first time it happened?
