ECO mode, fuel saving mode not working

I don't see the fuel saver option on my 2019 Rebel UConnect. I went to settings > display and nothing. Can anyone confirm if this option is available on the Rebel. I have the v8 /w eTorque engine.

It is called 'Fuel Saver Display'... it seems to be under 'Themes' for the 8.4 and 12.

All it does is turn on the ECO light, it does not 'enable' anything...

This is all good info. I have just under 300 almost all city driving miles and am getting 12.1 mpg. I have the fuel saver light enabled but haven’t seen it. But it sounds like I may have to wait a bit before I do and for my mpg to improve.

I think I've had mine light up while on the interstate above 70 but only when I'm running downhill with the cruise engaged. Below 70 it'll light up often.

About 800 miles now, 6 days of use and I haven't seen the green "ECO" emblem but once. I have it selected in the settings, it's just not coming on. Is it restricted during break-in or something?

They all have it you have to enable it if you want the green eco to show on your cluster

Don’t fear, it will come. Many including myself really did see a lot of eco action till 500 or so. Just focus on break-in Ram asks you to do, you will see you can ‘play a little’ at higher gears. Mileage will improve slowly. Focus should be on over all good break in of powertrain and not mileage for sometime at where your at.

It is very subtle when MDS kicks on and off. You can hear it if you turn off the AC and radio. It does "bump" a little when kicking off while adding throttle, especially when going up a hill.

There is a technique to coaxing ECO/MDS to engage. It won't come on unless you back off the throttle to coast for about 1 second and get the instantanious mpg above 22 mpg. After that you can ease back on the throttle slightly if you want to gradually speed up. This is only true under 55 mph with the 3.92 axle. Probably 60 with the 3.21. Above that, it only stays engaged going downhill and deceleration. At 70+ it won't come on much at all on my truck.

I can hold ECO/MDS on 2 lane roads with mild hills at 45 mph with some effort. It definetely improves mpg.

It's based on engine load. If you have a 3.92 diff and you're driving that fast, good luck seeing it.

If it switched on easily then people would say that's annoying. There's no winning for Ram in this one. I treat it like it's an "on demand" feature. Back off a bit and it turns on. Don't, and it won't...unless I'm coasting or going downhill.

I don't think some owners understand how it works. Couple that with aggressive driving habits and they are complaining about 12 mpg in town. Yet somehow others are getting 16-18 mpg in town. The skinny pedal controls economy. We control the skinny pedal.

Now that I have about 3500 miles on the engine I the eco light stays on much longer and I don’t have to try to get it on as much. I usually turn it off though because below 45 mph the ride is smoother and the mpg isn’t a lot different driving carefully with 4 or 8 cylinders.

Turn off the light if it's annoying. This function shouldn't require user input to change if it's already within operating parameters. There must be some design to the system that requires it to function this way, and I doubt it's the Eco light display on the dashboard.

I believe the design requirement that Ram follows is to switch on MDS under extremely light engine loads. This avoids the bump we would feel if it occurred while the engine was pulling. It's all a compromise with no perfect solution.

I rarely see mine - used to see it pretty often in my old Ram ('13 Laramie). I've just settled with that fact that this truck is worse on gas mileage than the older models. I went from 3.21 to 3.92s which is some of the factor, but shouldn't be a 3mpg diff.

67 mph @ 18 mpg (slight uphill)
ECO on (surprisingly)
Flat with a few small hills
23 mpg average over 40 miles with 60mph average.

Driven with ECO on as much as possible by using the method I described earlier. I don't normally drive that way.
