Center Console Squeak

Does anyone else have an annoying squeak when they rest their elbow on the rear portion of the center console? I have the Laramie full console.

Yes. I don't think it's in the top lid I think it's in the hinge or the interface between the top portion and the bottom portion of the armrest....

I had a subtle squeak also coming from my console also. I actually fixed mine myself. Not a job for someone who is not mechanically inclined but not rocket science either. You have to remove rear console panel where the a/c vents are. There are some screws hidden under the wood trim around rear cup holder. Once that is off disconnect all the wires to USB and rear seat heat/cooling controls. About 8 screws hold the console lid bracket in place. Once lid is out you have to gently pry inner lid trim off to expose screws holding lid to bracket. Place black felt along backside where hinge rubs. In my pic attached it's the area where my torx driver is pointing to. I also added felt across area in pic where you see white dash lines just as a precaution. Reverse steps to reinstall and console lid should be squeak free..

My squeek was in the hinge. Replaced it this week and all fixed. Nice and solid and as it should be now.

They have a redesigned lid that is definitely stronger. I've had mine replaced and the new one is a little different in the framing of it. Dealer replaced no problem

Was at the dealer for recalls today and they fixed this for me as well. The work order says there’s a ‘star case’/TSB with directions to fix it: S1923000006.

So at the very least, your local dealer should be able to fix it without having to order/wait for a new console lid.

I fixed mine with dry lubricant spray to the hinges of both lids

Just verified that pounding on the console 6-7 times with your fist will resolve the issue. Wow....wish I'd known this before 2 dealer trips.

Doesn't last. You'll be pounding it every few days and eventually break something.

Yep, I can echo this comment pounded it and the squeak left...... but then came back after about a week or two. Glad I had the dealer order a new one under warranty.

My squeak came back twice also. Scheduled for the dealer next week.

Pound is temporary fix. I couldn’t take it anymore. Dealer replaced under warranty no questions asked. Not a peep from it now. Very happy.

Does anyone know what this star case number suggests the service department do to resolve the lid squeaking? I see some on here get the whole console lid replaced out and some suggest that there is a quicker fix the dealerships are performing. I have to bring my truck in again on Monday for this and the brake squeal issue so I want to be prepared. Thanks!

Got the new Lid put in and no more squeak and it seems much more solid than the old lid also with how it latches with zero play.

Mine was fixed via the star case number in March though, so there is one now, no ordering or waiting. Unfortunately, it doesn’t say how they went about fixing it though... I posted the number sorta hoping someone had access to the system and could report back on the fix.

Awesome. Glad they’re giving this a higher priority. Seems trivial but it was just so annoying.

Yes. Dropped my truck at the dealer on Wednesday, and that was one of the issues. They are replacing the console lid (and adding freon, swapping LED ambient lighting around glovebox, and hopefully swapping brake pads for the squeal). Should know later if it will be ready this afternoon.

What are you refereeing to about the ambient lighting around glovebox?
