I have this squeak and notified the service manager at my oil change last week. When I got the truck back he said they “put some grease on it and it should be fine”. I said great, got in my truck, touched that spot and the squeak was right there just as loud. Not a bit of difference. I doubt they actually did anything to it. Not too happy but I couldn’t spend anymore time that day addressing this. Will have to fix it later. I was more than happy to complete the service survey from FCA today.

Hi natehawes,
We're very sorry that this was not taken care of the first time you brought your truck to the dealer. If you decide to bring your truck back to the dealer for further inspection, you may also send us a private message and we would be happy to help you get this concern addressed.

My squeak got the best of me last night. I couldn't stand it any more, so I hauled off an smacked it good once over each side. The squeak is now gone. This drives me nuts that it worked, but thanks for the tip guys.

Unreal, but true. Took me 10 smacks across the back of the lid close to the rear cup holders. The squeak/crunch is gone. I love the internet and forums!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It won’t last and I don’t understand why you wanna try and rig it to stop when it’s brand new truck. Take it in and get a new lid put on. It’s a known issue. Just my opinion. Good luck

Don't be afraid to fix your own truck. It's only mechanical. Dealers aren't the saviors of everything, and my time is much more valuable to me than theirs.

I don't completely disagree, but if I can fix it without disrupting my schedule to take my truck in to the dealership, I will. As others have said if the squeak comes back, I will take it in and have it replaced.

I was skeptical at first but did a couple hard bangs with my fist on the rear of the console lid and yes, the noise stopped.

The dealer already ordered a new lid and before I did my “self repair”; during inspection by the dealer and myself, we both noticed the passenger side (with lid fully opened vertically) was able to be moved about 1/2” back and forth. The drivers side was solid.

So I’m changing it either way.

Does anyone else have an annoying squeak when they rest their elbow on the rear portion of the center console? I have the Laramie full console.

Yes I did, very annoying, I can't believe it's an issue with that many complaints.
The dealership reordered the complete center console and it came back with a velour type interior, squeak is gone.

I'm pretty sure just replacing the lid won't correct the squeak, the felt/velour lined interior corrected the problem. the hard plastic is what was making the noise. they had to order twice for mine, and the squeak continued after the first attemp, only louder. but the second order came with the felt lined interior, that fixed fixed it.

Not sure what your issue was, but mine was clearly the lid, and since replaced, issue is resolved.

Just to be clear, is this for the six passenger seating, because I have the 40/20/40 and my middle jump seat (?) is where my squeak is coming from.

Bummer. Glad I got mine replaced by dealer. Been about a month and rock solid.
Mine wasn’t replaced. I just did the “bang” method.
Still waiting on dealer parts to replace the console. Maybe I should have put that part in. Sorry for the confusion.

No worries. The fact that this part is now so scarce, tells me that the issue is more widespread than we prob thought.
When I took mine to the dealer a couple of months ago, they had the part delivered and installed in two days.

Went to the dealer today and had the techs look at my squeaky console lid. Two minutes later, they were ordering a new lid. Supposed to be in within the week and with work... another 2 weeks till I can drop it off and get it replaced.
