Cargomaxx HD coils

I also need to weigh my setup again as it has been years since the last time and what it’s loaded up with today is much different than when we first got it 4 years ago.

Start an eBay account haha!

I’m in the same boat as you though. It’s fun to try new things and see how it all reacts.

What year is your truck? I know on my 2024 the 893xhd’s would raise the rear 2” and the 905xhd’s would raise the rear 2.5”
2023. The 893HDs were listed to raise 1” but i got more…so im wondering if either i did something wrong, or they still need to settle

Update 893HD progressive rate springs

The springs seemed to have settled a bit with some trailer towing.

After some pulling my measurements are
Unloaded
F- 36 5/8 (+ 1/4”)
R- 39 1/4 ( - 1/4”)

Loaded w/ wdh
F- 37 (+ 1/4”)
R- 37 3/4 (- 1/4”)

Over all I gained 1 1/4” in the rear..the springs are advertised to gain 1” so hopefully they dont settle more.

For reference with the 891HDs i sat at 37” front and rear. So these 893s are a pretty significant improvement. Im still debating trying the 893HD none progressive rate springs just to see.

Loaded w/ wdh after some driving.

I love the way my truck feels now with my non progressive xhd’s. I only gained 1 3/4” with the 350-905xhd’s which is less than the advertised for the 351-905xhd’s.

How much did they end up squatting with the travel trailer

I haven’t hauled it back yet. Planning to this weekend but it needs to be winterized first and cleaned real good. I will get a pic of it loaded without any WDH. I’m really curious how it’s going to do.

overall after adjusting the WDH here is where I stand.

F-36 3/4
R- 37 7/8 (or 38..hard to tell)

The truck drives AMAZING with the 893HD springs and the WDH working together. I was blown away on this last trip. 170 miles one way with plenty of elevation changes and sharp turns, and even high winds with dangerous gusts. The combo did amazing..the best Ive ever had for a tow vehicle. The pictures are hard to see but its noticable in person that the rear is higher that the front even under load. The stance is exactly what I wanted while towing.

Ill be adding the shocks, largley because I have them..but i dont anticipate they make any real difference. These springs are worth every penny!

The last two pictures are an interesting upgrade I found on the youtube. You disconnect the tongue jack motor and rotate it 90. Mark the pole and drill / tap the new holes and then just bolt it in place sideways. This move allows the tailgate to drop all the way. WHICH IS AMAZING. a game changer for us since we travel often with the dogs in the back of the truck.

Just to be transparent...I cant leave well enough alone and will also probably get the xhd constant rate springs just to see what they are like.

Hi, I was following all your post, end up getting 351-893xhd and I love it, only think 🤔 is my 2023 ecodiesel with 33 fuel tank, empty bed was 39 inch high, with the new spring only gain 1 inches, after a few days I'm at 39 1/2, not complaining but I saw in previous post your factory high was 38 inches.

I've been thinking of doing the trailer jack mod and rotating it towards the passenger side. When you leave your site, you can turn the light on the jack for a walkway light when you come back.

I’ve been really impressed with the HD springs but obviously I’m a little curious if the XHD would perform the same without a load but better under load. How would you say the drive feels?

update, with travel trailer only go down 1 inch, but most impress was in the speed hump or uneven terrain the tuck did not bounce around like before, I didn't feel the trailer at all, better stop, less rolling, cant wait to add the 5100,
I have a question, full load back was 38 5/8 and front was 37 1/4, I was thinking the front shock 5100 1 inch of lift, that will be to much or leave it like is now? thanks in advance for any advices.

nice! youre adding weight to me wanting to throw the XHDs in the truck this spring

As far as leveling or raising with the shocks....I JUST went through this with my 5100 install a month or so ago. I landed with leaving the 5100s set to stock ride height. Loaded my truck sits about 1in higher in the rear, and the front is nearly stock ride height, with the WDH on.

My thought process was that I would like the truck to look more level with normal driving, BUT its primary purpose is towing the travel trailer for the family and I. If I went up just 1/2 in in the front that would have made the truck sit only 1/2in high in the rear while towing, which I wasnt sure I wanted. It may have also changed how the WDH was set up since id have to re do all the measurements and install process again. Id like to believe that only going up 1/2in in the front wouldnt change everything else....but I think it would. I so opted to keep the stock front height and maintain about 1in of rake with the camper loaded and WDH on. Once I pulled with the 5100s (and 893HDs) in I knew it was the right choice since it just feels perfect.

Im still concerned about the effort it takes to engage my spring bars though...every time I think about it I have waking nightmares of the front A frame of the camper cracking or bending when the truck starts up a hill, causing the hitch to apply temporary higher pressure to the A frame. I often say I know enough to be dangerous and im not sure if this is one of those moments where I am over analyzing it or not. But I think the XHD springs would alleviate some of that overthinking.

How did they feel with daily driving?

daily driving feel great, before my truck bounce too much with the OEM spring, this is day and night for me, I was scare about the 351-893xhd, but I make the perfect choices.
