So after finding virtually no feedback, posts or anything about the Dayton cargomaxx HD springs, I figured I'd be the ginneau pig and check them out for myself and for you guys.
for the full install and iverview, please check out the video i made!
Here it goes.

So let me clear up why I went with them and not the Tufftrucks or any of the others, the only reason is because they're the only coils that I could find that offer enough lift for what I need. I needed exactly 1" of rear lift which my Eibach springs gave me but the eibachs didn't have the extra load capacity. So I found these cargomaxx springs. The ones I installed, part number 351893HD are actually designed for 4th gens but work on 5th gens. These are the standard 35% load increase which give non ORP/Rebel trucks 1" of lift at 35% load increase. They have an XHD variant which gives 2" lift on the 5th gens and 70% load increase but 2" is too much, said no woman ever. These gave me exactly 1" which is what I needed!

They do offer stock height springs with 35% load increase btw. Now for 5th gen specific springs, they have again, an HD and HXD variant but both of those give 2.5" of lift (subtract 1" for orp or rebels) which is too much. So I went with the 1" 4th gen springs. Incase you're wondering, yep it works! They fit like factory.

Onto the fun stuff, with the eibach springs (stock springs would be the same as far as how much sag there is) without the trailer hooked up, it was 14" from the top of the wheel to the bottom lip of the box side, and with the trailer attached (4,000lbs) the truck sagged 2.5". It went from 14" to 11.5"!

With the Cargomaxx 35% increase springs, I still have that 14" of gap and once I hooked the same trailer up, the truck only lowered 1"! It went from 14" to 13". A massive improvement.

Now for ride, they are variable rate. They ride great, definitely stiffer over bumps but nothing to be concerned with if you are wanting these and unsure of ride. Trust me, between my F ply tires and these, it's totally bearable. They ride like stock until you hit a bump.and then you can feel the stiffness but again, it's not out of this world by any means. I also installed some bilstein 5100 rear shocks as well.

Now for pictures, the first picture, the top pic is unloaded with the cargomaxx springs and the bottom pic is with the 4,000lb trailer hooked up.

Next picture Is with the trailer hooked up with the eibachs, look at that wheel to fender gap!

The 3rd picture is with the Dayton coils, much more gap!

I have been looking at doing this for some time. I might just do it and see how it goes. I have the ORP package, and don't want to raise the rear, just want support for when pulling the boat and travel trailer.

So since you have the ORP. The springs I installed are the ones you want as well, they don't give lift for ORP trucks

I have the 395-893s sitting in the house and have a set of the 395-891s that will be here next week. SUPER glad you had a good experience with them. I ordered the 893s on accident thinking they were they 0 lift set. After talking with the fantastic folks at simcoe im holding on to them while I wait for the 891s to come in. Then ill install them both and see which set works best for me. Im holding out reservation but I suspect the 891s will be perfect since i really dont want any lift in the rear.

It all depends if you have Off Road package or not. I put the 893 in my truck and the ride height is the same. Tows like a dream now w/ minimal sag.

Yep, i do not have the orp. So the 893s will raise the rear 1in, which is not what im looking for. Really excited to get the 891s in since they should provide the same improvement in towing and capability as the 893s Just not as long of a coil.

This thread peaked my interest in this option. I have been "researching" as in searching over and over again. I found a YouTube video from a shop showing the installation of all the CargoMaxx springs on a Ram 1500 DT. They also measured before and after. The results seem a bit different that what the OP showed, so it's likely dependent on what you are starting with and/or the model of RAM.

Here is the video:

Here is the chart with the observed results from said video:

Based on this chart, I may go with the 351-905HD model. I am planning to level and this should maintain my towing options while providing a more aggressive stance.

I just installed these today. The folks at simcoe updated the fitment chart.

Immediately after the install and a half mile test drive I gained about 7/8 of an inch in height. I anticipate some if not all of that settling out as the springs get used.

First impressions are that the truck rides exactly the same as stock. But I will know more on my 30 mile drive to work in about two hours.

So I went with the 893HD because I needed 1" of lift which Simcoe claimed 1" lift on non ORP trucks and that's exactly what I gained with them.

Isn't it mind boggling how much shorter they are but the amount of lift they provide? 🤣

I said the exact same thing!…actually made me second guess putting the airlift bags in. But i figured they were fine since the bags were made for the oem springs w/weight of the truck.

I will update the measurements in another couple days. It looks like its settled a little to me but it measured the same today after about 120miles on the springs.

From the looks of it.. stock probably has a progressive rate spring just like the B12 Bilstein springs I run which helps with the ride comfort and explains while you get a lift with the Cargomaxs springs even though the springs is physically shorter.

My biggest concern with these springs. When lifting the truck on a lift the springs can fall out of the perchs/upper isolator. When lowering you just need to make sure whoever lifts the truck(you or a shop) pays attention and checks them.

Other than that, no need for air bags or timbren like bump stop helpers( I had both at different times, hated the Timbren loaded ride)

Mine did not settle! Which for me was a good thing 😆 So I don't anticipate yours settling either

I honestly dont think these will pop out of the perch. I had to use the spring compressors to put them in with the axle at full hang on just the control arms with the shocks disconnected. Unless a shop disconnects the shocks and rear sway bar when they put it on a lift I believe theyll stay in place. But its worth noting I guess for a shop when I get my oil changed. not sure of my dealership uses a lift or a pit to doe their oil changes.

at this point I wont be mad if they dont. Im absolutely blow away by the ride of these things and how much better the truck feels with just regular driving. If they handle the camper better (like i anticipate) then ram definitely should have come with these as part of the tow package.

you will be very impressed with towing then! the truck is much more stable. I agree, its probably the best, easiest and cheapest upgrade you can possibly do to these trucks

Really a spring compressor? When I installed mine, they were very easy to install. I'm thinking 3 inches, maybe
more or extra space when shocks disconnected. Did you need a spring compressor to remove the longer oem spring?

When the truck is on the lift, the springs are not touching the upper isolators. The spring can easily move and then not line up with the isolator.

The oem springs are not in contact with the isolator when its on a lift? Or are you still just postulating your concern with the shorter cargo max springs? Or have you confirmed they do infact come out of the isolator?

They weren’t that much shorter so I still think they’ll be fine.

Yea i used a spring compressor for the install. Probably just how I had it set up in my driveway with the limits of my floor jack. Im sure if i was able to get it up higher and the put stands under the frame at the increased height it would have been easier. But the height I got it to the axle seemed to go as far as it could go without loosening the control arms. I used the same compressors to remove the oem springs, just didn’t have to compress as much for these cargo ones.

I'm just giving an heads up. When on a lift with rear end at full drop the springs are not in contact with the upper isolator. When I lower my truck when I have it in the hoist, as soon as the tires make contact with the ground I make sure they are going to seat correctly. It's just advice I have, it is the only negative I have seen. I used the 351-893HD springs on my truck.
