No issues with the multifunction tailgate. I got that topper and I have the MFT on my truck and asked specifically about that.

Leer manufactures the tops specifically to accommodate the multifunction tailgate. The install has these c clamps at the front / cab end to hold the top on securely. I looked at that or the snugtop cap and the sales guy told me that if I went the snugtop route that they would cut the top at the store after it comes in from snugtop. Hopefully that makes sense

Wait, what!? What are you in now??
I couldn’t pass up the crazy market…. I almost got what I paid for it and ordered a 22 longbed…. The short bed was killing me, too restrictive for my needs….

so…. Until that comes in I’m commuting on this 😂

Got my Ranch Sierra topper on yesterday. Took 6 weeks to come in. With my options and tax I was out the door at 1800. I’m pleased with it overall. Only thing I don’t like is that the keys to the windoors are different than the locks on the rear door. They are completely different locks so getting keyed the same won’t work.

Anyone that has a Leer topper, there is a possible problem with the wires that control the rear latches. I have a 100XL on a 2020 short bed.
The wires are steel cable wrapped in black plastic. The problem is the clamp will eventually wear out the plastic and allow it to slide off the end of the wire making the release stick permanently. And you have no way of getting in to fix it.
Take the wires out of the clamps and strip the black plastic off and you are good.
I was able to pull the released side of the topper open just enough to get a jury-rigged fishing rod and coathanger loop into the topper to grab the clamp and open the topper. Pics if anyone wants to see... In the first pic you can see the stripped wire and the grey locking mechanism and the white coat hangar opening device I fabbed up... The second the the repaired connection.

I recently moved my 2019 ARE CX series from my 2019 Bighorn over to my 2021 Laramie. Topper is still serving me well and looks great. When I was contemplating a factory order I reached out to the ARE dealer about compatibility with the MFT and he said the ARE toppers work with the MFT but they specify that when ordering and ARE builds it specific for that tailgate. 20210620_122915.jpg 20210601_205706.jpg 20200822_101139.jpg 20210725_082153.jpg

Hey Amigo, how did you find out about this issue? I'm still waiting for an install of my 100XR and can bring this issue up with the place where I bought it. I appreciate the heads-up!

I was in the truck and told my wife to shut the topper, which she had never done. She twisted the handle to shut instead of just "slamming" it shut. I think she twisted too hard. The next time I tried to open the topper, only the left side latch released. So I was locked out. I shouldn't have blamed her (sometimes I'm an old *******) because it was the plastic cable housing that failed. You can show my pics to your installer and ask them to strip the wire down to metal before inserting into the grey clamp.
Regards.

My Leer 100XR cap was installed a day ago and the paint matches great. I’m going to wash it tomorrow and see if there’s and water coming through the seams. I’ll post some pictures afterwards.

Here are some pics of my Leer topper that was installed last week. Apparently Leer did not put a small metal part in my front window that goes to the cab so they have to install a whole new window.

Here are some pics of my Leer topper that was installed last week. Apparently Leer did not put a small metal part in my front window that goes to the cab so they have to install a whole new window.
Update: I'm not happy with Leer! The front glass that is next to my cab has a sliding window and there are clips required to keep the window open and closed...2 clips. When my hard top was installed, there was not either clip in my window, so the window would just open and close (and rattle) when I took turns in my truck. I went back to the place that installed my topper, A&A Topper Sales and Truck Accessories, and they looked at my window and said that Leer messed up and they would have to order a whole new window with the required clips. Two weeks later it came in and I had to schedule an appointment the following week to have the glass window installed. Well, a week or two later, I had the sliding window open and when driving my truck it made a rattling noise and would close on turns. Apparently Leer had sent the Topper place a replacement window with the clip that keeps the window closed but not the other one that keeps the window open... terrible quality by Leer and A&A in my opinion. So I had to go back to the topper place and have them look at my window again and I'm waiting on a replacement window to come in so they can replace the one that they previously replaced my first one with.

I'm not a satisfied customer. Apparently there is now quality right now with consumer goods...the issue should have been caught by Leer and by A&A. Here is a picture of where the clip should be and the clip on the other side of the window.

Anyone with a ARE willing to take some pictures of the hatch/tailgate transition?

I got my CX Evolve but the tailgate auto-release option does work because of tight seal fit, hope that makes sense. Trying to find an option.
