November build here too and same issue. I just posted on a similar thread as there are a few regarding the auto brake. No “software updates” according to service dept. and nothing wrong with the truck because no dash lights are on. I’ll just disable mine also. (n)

So after seeing this happen to a neighbor's truck with me outside watching it, we notice that when the truck is in reverse and goes up a angled driveway the rear bumper sensor's are closest to the sidewalk this software currently in the truck sense's an impact with something. We tried this twice and sure enough it happened again a sudden brake application while backing up into his driveway. The angle from the street to the sidewalk was nothing out of the ordinary. And his angle off the sidewalk was very relaxed. It was from the street to the sidewalk is what triggered it.The sensor's view is as such it is looking downward as well as back. When we taped off a portion of the bumpers sensor we got a warning that the system was inoperative. The sensors are gonna have to come out or a serious software update is gonna have to occur.Because it's logic is not recognizing it is a sidewalk versus a child, animal,or a vehicle...

I just read about an inquiry being made about the Nissan Rogue for the same reasons; forward collision avoidance system braking for no apparent reason. IMHO FCA will be next in line, and won't be alone in the queue.

Link to the article (french): https://www.msn.com/fr-ca/autos/actualite/le-nissan-rogue-fait-lobjet-dune-enquête-aux-états-unis/ar-BBW2vPu?li=AAgh0dB

But hey, self driving cars are "better than people" allllllllll the time.
(Except when they aren't.)

I just joined this forum to get help with my forward collision warning/active braking system on my Nov 18 built 2019 Ram Longhorn. For me my FCW does not seem to be working right if at all. On occasion it has sensed a vehicle making a turn ahead of me off of my road lane that it thought I was approaching too fast or without manual braking an it gave an audible and visual warning and lightly applied the brakes as it very well should of but many other times and especially with a vehicle directly ahead of me that was braking and I manually did not catch (glanced away at that moment - Murphy's Law) it did not do anything automatically. The wife as a passenger is a better early warning system! At that point it was on Medium sensing with alert and active braking enabled. I tried it on Far and Near and in manually trying to approach a vehicle braking a little faster than normal the system never did a a thing. I was in to my dealer for the adjustable brake pedal and the power steering ground recalls and asked them to check the FCW. The verdict was that several times they almost ran over a volunteer mechanic who stood in the way in confirming that the system is not working. They have no solution and called it in to a FCA tech counterpart. I'm still waiting on the outcome but from the forum comments here it appears that I'm better off with it the way it is working/not working. I may just disable it altogether or select warning only until this issue is for sure resolved! BTW in my early going with the vehicle my rear braking sensing scared the ---- out of me when I was trying to do a quick turn around by backing into reverse and accelerating in that reverse direction, it must have sensed me moving in reverse faster than it liked and though nothing was near it absolutely locked up the brakes leaving me to look around for whatever I was about to have hit! Also, one time in reverse and parking by backing up to a wall which I was intently watching in my back up camera, again, too fast for the system's liking but not to mine (a fraction of the pace on the other instance) it locked up the brakes. But this back up thing is okay now that I know what the heck to expect. Just the forward collision warning is junk!

Well. I hate starting threads. Especially those that van be perceived as whiney. I really had the S*** scared out of myself and family today. I do not drive a lot of miles due to work being close to home. Also still have my 13 so I drive it still. Today I decided to drive the new truck. I did a lot of driving today actually. Well long story short. I was driving along and the truck started beeping as if there was a car and slammed on the brakes. HOLY S***! Tires screeched wife screamed kids yelled and NOTHING. There was no car.. no anything. Completely empty road in front and luckily behind because I would have for sure been rear ended. I was not on cruise control I was on a side street. Then once I got to a light about a block away I came to a voluntary stop and the truck demanded to be put into park and wouldn't move out of that until I actually cycled the ignition.

Man. I have had the brake kick in going reverse but forwards at 50 MPH. Thats a terrible situation. SO I have disabled it for now. I have 1400 miles not he truck.

I love the adaptive cruise its a great thing but this made me a bit gun shy for sure. Anyways. Just a heads up guys not anymore than a vent from me. I had to let it be know that it had happened.
This JUST happened to me. It beeped loudly three times, (it's done this before with NOONE even close) but this time it slammed on the brakes for NO REASON AT ALL!! Scared the crap out of me. I wasn't using cruise control or adaptive cruise control either. I'll be calling my dealership about it on Monday. I have a feeling this is a bigger issue than we know!

After a few sudden stops while backing back out of my driveway, I turned it off. Front and rear. I don’t trust it. I’m terrified that something like a bug splat might cause this thing to slam on brakes on I-10 rush hour.

I really could do without all these damn smart features. I’m the driver, I don’t need electronics making decisions for me. I think they are pushing technology that just isn’t refined enough yet. These are potentially deadly miscalculations.

I took my Ram to the dealer yesterday for the recall and mentioned the brake thing (for me backing up). When the tech called he went over all the tests they ran, and when I said that it would go off at random he said "Oh, they all do that - that's normal"!

Was it late in the after noon? Maybe the tech was a few ****tails in when he said that. Lol. It's not normal and shouldn't be accepted. Everyone needs to contact FCA instead of turning it off so they're aware of the issue. Or just contact @RamCares and tell them about it. Ignoring it won't fix it.

Is “****tails” a banned word here? Lol
Speaking of, I might need one after dealing with this auto brake issue.

Meanwhile there are people are buying into totally self driving cars in the near future, and talking down to everyone within ear shot
Please.
People don't change their oil or rotate their tires, you're now going to ask them to get out in middle of a snow storm and clean off bumper sensors, because they're covered and now the computers can't tell when to brake or go? Or the camera on the roof is now covered in snow, and same deal?

I'm a skeptic.

Just traded off my Grand Cherokee that had ALL the bells and whistles.
I disabled what I could and never liked the auto braking, self parking, lane departure or ESS. I did like the blind spot monitor, and parksense.
All the other stuff is for texters. ;)

I figured the 2019s were improved, apparently not, Ill be disabling mine. We have the auto brake feature disabled in our '15 Durango since new as it triggered out of the blue several times including on an empty highway at 65 mph. I must have hit the enable button by mistake yesterday and it auto panic braked as my wife was going around another turning vehicle at 15 mph, 3 car lengths back. She now has a sore neck, and i have a guilt complex ;).

I wish i could say computer controlled driving aids are a hastily implemented bad idea, but even with present faults they still do a better job than 95% of the human driving population.

Last week, 5:30 pm, Chicago rush hour traffic on 1-94 (Dan Ryan Expressway) finally got up to approx. 30mph when out of nowhere the auto brakes slammed on hard to a full stop and I freaked! All I could do and stare in the rear view mirror and hope not to be rear ended. Fortunately the truck behind was able to move over. He was just as freaked out as me! When the brakes finally released and I got moving again I tip toed home hoping for it not to happen again. WTF! This 2019 Limited was built in December 2018.
