Aftermarket Amp and 12” sub install in a HK LIMITED!

I have the 10W1s and they also play just fine for my tastes. But definitely pay a premium that shallow tech.

Haven't seen this asked yet but how does etorque effect adding on an aftermarket amplifier? The etorque models don't use an alternator so how many amps can the electrical system support? I was dead set on 2 10w6v3 subs until I thought about what the system could actually support.

I'm just posting this on here in case people are trying to get ideas or see if something works.

I built this over the weekend. The goal was to for 2 10" subs under the back seat an make it fit within the factory storage system. This was so I could retain access to bins and not modify the all weather mats. The only subs I could find to make this work are the JL 10TW1. This box has a volume of about 0.69cf +/-. It's stuffed with poly. The amp is a Pioneer GM D8701 (400w/ch at 1ohm).

It's works great. Only thing I'd say it lacks is the real low end stuff (<30hz). It doesn't quite rumble like a 12+ set up would or a set up with more space. But nonetheless it fits my needs and goals and really brings this HK system alive.

That's a good thought and I don't have any idea. I thought I read somewhere though that the etorque system actually had greater capacity than the standard alternator system.

OK I ordered the ported dual 10" sub box from fox acoustics. Also ordered 2 jl 10w6 subs, a hertz Mille ml 1 amp and the pac interface module.

Will be a great system no doubt, look forward to hearing your review if you have time.

How did the pac amp pro unit effect your eq for those that are using it.

For those interested in the fox boxes. The new dual 10" box seems really well built. I will know more once my subs are installed. Pictures attached. Also the amp kit that I purchased through Amazon is by far the best kit I have ever used. 100% copper wire and the rca's are phenomenal.

box looks nice. my only concern would be sub hitting floor under extreme excursion conditions

Looks good! Did it not come with terminal cups? How's it look in the truck? Any clearance issues with seat and recline mechanism?

I'm excited and getting ready to pull the trigger myself.

Thank you for posting!

I will test fit it tomorrow and get back to you on fitment. It came with both speaker cups as well. They have revised it already so that the design is relatively the same but includes cutouts to be able to still access the floor boxes without having to slide the box over.

I thought about this as well. I am going to measure first before using my subs and add spacers to both the box and seat height to lift it up if needed. I will keep you updated.

That box definitely looks good. I am also interested in the fit and whether it interferes with anything seat and storage wise.

Love the JL shallow subs. I installed 2-13tw5 in my 2019 and have been blown away with the performance. This is my first time using shallow subs.
Any pics or more info of your set up would be awesome. Thanks.

That box appears to be flat across the bottom. Does it sit forward of the hump?
