8.4" to 12.1" screen replacement

I hope it comes back like that, it hasn't yet. I'm just realizing the software in my module shows Mexico, not USA. Maybe that's why I'm not able to do the update from the memory stick, it is telling me the software is not compatible with the vehicle. Does anyone know how to fix that, or if it's fine that way, and if there is another way to update it. I bought the module and everything else new from Tascaparts.com

with software update you may have to do first LR34.2 ---> PR39.7 ---> PR39.9
someone had those files available for download
I was reading that some people could not install last version and had to do one after another.

I have a suspicion you were sent to wrong radio module. It should not say mexico. What was the part number on the module

68422049AD
You absolutely have the wrong module. That is a UDX module with NAV for mexico only. You should have a UAX radio part number 68422046AD. You see how close that number is. Someone fat fingered the number when ordering it. That module is also a lot more expensive than the one you have.

I’m interested in this swap, just read most of this thread. Part numbers keep evolving….

I have a 2020 Ram 1500 Bighorn 8.4” without navigation. Wanting to upgrade to 12.1” and have nav and single zone climate control.

Is there an additional “temp sensor” of sort that I would need, besides the following (see pic)
4f2c39f2f0bb42f5e5a5eeb218c931cb.png

Also, most of these part #’s say “doesn’t fit” my truck…

I know I’ll also need the pin adapter from @Jimmy07 and the OBD stuff…

This thread is amazing, thanks to all who contributed.

Ok, I'm realizing that now, but everything has been working perfectly. I obviously can't update from the memory stick with this software. I'm trying to decide how important it is to change it. Is there a way to keep it updated, or get the software that works on this version?

Ok, I'm realizing that now. It's working perfectly, and I'm trying to decide if it's worth changing it. I can't update this software with this software link, but is there another way to get an update for it. If so I'm not sure I'm missing anything from the other version of the module

I used the following but this is just the major parts. Small hardware is needed for mounting everything.

Radio module / brain 68317978AF is what I used. A newer or older part number will be fine.

LVDS video cable: 68082364AC was the cheapest one I could find and I used. ( Dodge Journey )
or
68417577AA ( Ram 1500 )
or
5064684AD ( Chrysler 300 or Dodge Charger )

Screen: 68312620AF with lane assist and parking buttons at the top
or
Screen: 68420967AD with only hazards button at the top

Bezel for the screen: Now this is a little tricky with different trims. Please verify color and prices vary widely.
Mountain Brown/Lt Frost Beige or Black 6EJ801N1AA
Mountain Brown/Lt Mountain Brown 6EJ811N6AA
Black/New Saddle 6EJ812XTAA
Indigo/Frost or Black 6EJ822C1AA
Mountain Brown/Lt Frost Beige, Black Interior Accents 6EZ151N1AA
Black, Black Interior Accents 6EZ152X9AA
All color Big Horn or Lonestar 6UV463XLAA
Black, Sport Badge 6UV473X9AB

Mat that fits in the top center: 6MB16TX7AA

Bolts that hold the screen to the trim are M5 X 0.8 x 12mm

Correction 8.4" Nav and Non Nav will need this or a pinout change. The 8.4" Nav will still use the blue connector and this adaptor. If you use the 8.4" nav screen connector without blue tape the hazards will not work when you switch to the 12" setup. On 8.4" setups the hazards wiring is still in the blue tapped connector and not the screen module connector.
HVAC plug with blue tape will also need repined before plugging into the screen. I made several and have them ready to ship just PM me.

You have any plug available

Can someone tell me the module for 2021 68472372AE will work on my 2019 with no issues?

So Ive scanned through most of this and I guess I may have missed it... Im looking to trade my TRX in on a 2022 2500 Larame that has the 8.4 Nav. Are there specifics for Uconnect 5? The parts list mentions 2021 module, but nothing newer.

someone here trying on a new 12 screen they sent me the wrong one and if I return it it will take longer for them to send me another one it is for 2022 without lane or auto park assist

Is this

Hello, I’m new to the group. I have succesfully done the swap from 8.4 non nav to 12 nav, thanks to all that shared all the info in this thread and everything works like
It should on the screen. However I do have one remaining problem… I have no sound to the rear left speaker… I have tried to redo everything step by step again and no luck. When I put my old 8.4 unit and reverse the settings in alpha OBD everything works good and have would you all the speakers. I reinstall the new module and screen do the setting changes again in alpha OBD and boom no sound to
Left rear speaker. If I Turn the volume up to like 35 I can hear music coming thru on all the speakers despite fader being set to left rear?? Any ideas or suggestions would be great. I almost want to give up and put my old unit back but the 12” screen looks so awesome! Please help. Thank you in advance!

Just wait couple hours and should come back

Thank for your quick response, unfortunately I have let it stay like that for the last couple of week hoping it would work itself out but no luck.

Part Number: 68472388AH (2021)
Part Number: 68422046AD (2019-2020)
Part Number: 68317978AN 2019-2020
Part number 68429169AB
All seem to be interchangeable and the hardware did not change

This is a first for me. since the module itself is the "radio" and it works with the 8.4 module i'm guessing either there is an issue with the 12 in module. are you on PR39 software?

Hello theRamhuy,
Yes I actually updated to the PR39.9. I was thinking it may be the 12 in radio module as well.... I have a 2019 ram 1500 and I just noticed from you post above that I am using the Part Number: 68472388AH (2021) instead of any of the others. Do you think that might be the reason?

Sorry if this has been answered earlier in the thread, been skimming through but itll take all day to read all 102 pages. Anyways 2020 non nav 8.4 going to a 12.1, will part number 68329882AJ work for the media module? All the new modules I see listed are north of $1k but I found the 68329882AJ for just under $700
Hello, did you get this module to work?

I do think the issue is with the module. It isn't that it's a different part number because 2388 and 7978 part numbers are virtually identical hardware wise. I don't know why only the left speaker would not work though unless it's a wiring or hardware failure
