2025 Tungsten - Good/Bad

Spent a few days with my Tungsten now and figured I could contribute...

---Good---
-Exterior is great. Went over it with a fine tooth comb and all the lines are even and no issues. I get some comments that it looks like many other Rams out there and I like that. The trim level is slightly understated. Anyone that doesn't know what they are looking for will generally not notice that it is anything special. I like that it is a little more reserved and doesn't scream that it is a special truck. Only difference in the exterior with the Limited that I can see is the badging obviously and the front bumper being all one piece.
-Interior is absolutely gorgeous. I was a little weary of the light colored leather, but it's more of a grey than a white and that makes me feel like it won't show as much dirt or wear. Time will tell on that. Love the suede roof liner. The accent lighting is subtle but adds to the looks.
-Comfort- dear lord is this thing comfortable. The seats adjust in 20 different adjustments and I'm still fine tuning the set up. Everything it easily reachable without having to stretch out to push a button. The heating and ventilated seats/steering wheel are coming in handy, but not unlike what you would find on any other vehicle. The massage is the best I've seen any any vehicle and while I've never owned a car with massaging seats, I've test driven quite a few and ridden in many. This one is top notch.
-Sound system- Klipsch knocked it out of the park. Sound is crisp and clear. I have a side hustle helping a friend with a party bus company. He spent a lot of money on loud/top of the line sound systems and the system in this truck is much better in clarity and even loudness than the bus. If the massaging seats are too deep of a massage for you, just turn up the radio and get a nice gentle bass massage. Also, noticed there is not rattle on the truck when the sound is at max like you hear from so many rice burners that the kids are putting systems in.
-Technology- So much going on here. I'm finding new things every day that I didn't even know about. I spent a couple of hours going through the Uconnect system looking at every single option and I'm going to end up going back through it all to adjust and find more things.
-Rear view Mirror-Took me a minute to figure out how to flip it to digital mode, but love it. Very clear image that works well regardless of lighting situation.
-Exterior cameras-Love the surround view. Love that the center console switches to a display of the camera when your turn signals activate. I do wish that the truck displayed in the surround view was the same color as the truck you were in(seems minor, but seems like something they missed at the same time). I do wish there was a quick way to see the cameras when parking. Maybe that's just a learning curve thing, but wish it was there. They have curb view built into it, but it doesn't activate on it's own so you have to navigate some screens to see it. Also wish it would show my front camera when I was parking so I could see how close I am. The park sense seems to be a lot more lenient than my previous 2017 and doesn't start alerting me until I'm closer than I feel comfortable with(again may be a learning curve).
-Trailer Tow Mirrors- I may have messed up by ordering these on a 1500. Might be overkill. They are just so big. I'm getting used to them and having the bigger mirrors is nice for visibility in them, but the can hide a full size truck behind them. Seems to really only be an issue at 4 way stops seeing cross traffic and I'll probably get used to them. I have them set to rotate down when I reverse and that is great. Someone else mentioned that they don't always return to where you had them set when you switch back to drive and I'm paying attention to that, but have not noticed it just yet.
Performance-Still breaking it in and taking it easy on it, but it does have some get up and go. More than a standard Ford Raptor.
Daily Driving-Smooth!!!! The assisted driving on this things performs exceptionally well. The lane assist is smooth and not jerky. I can set the cruise control at the speed limit and the truck will keep with traffic and even stop and start during stop and go traffic. So in that mode, I just have to have my hands on the wheel, but it does everything else. It steers, stops and accelerates from a stop. The only thing you have to do is override it for stop signs and traffic lights. Then there is the hands free driving on select roads(typically interstates and major highways). This works even better. It was nerve wrecking to test, but after only a few attempts at it, I'm very comfortable with trusting it. While it's probably not something that most of us would use on a daily commune or short trips, I can see this being amazing on a long road trip. It's so easy to turn on though, that I find myself turning it on for the short commute home anyway. Even changing lanes is smooth with it. Just flip the signal on and it will check and make the shift one lane at a time. I'll test it more thoroughly, but I believe you have to click the signal off and then back on to change multiple lanes.

---Bad---
-Digital Key- For some reason they call the key card a digital key. I haven't tried the key card yet, but it really seems like a gimmick. I guess it's a lot smaller to carry than the regular key, but you do have to hold it against the door to unlock and then in a certain spot to start the truck. So you still have to pull it out of your pocket as opposed to the regular key or the phone as key. Again, seems gimmicky.
-Phone as key- Advertised and the functionality isn't there. It's in the Uconnect system, but not released in the app yet. So it seems like it's waiting on the phone app to be updated. As others have said, Ram has not announced when this will be available. It would not surprise me if they never release it even though earlier model years have it(or so I believe).
-Automated parking-Another item that was advertised as standard on the Tungsten by Ram, but got changed to late availability. Look I'm fully capable of parking my own truck, that's not the issue. The issue is that you advertised an item as standard and then changed it to late availability. Again, previous model years have this feature. While Ram has updated their website to state late availability, that's not what was on the site when I ordered it.
-Performance-Yes, positive and negative!! Look I know going super fast in a full size truck is not the greatest of ideas and can be dangerous. But if done in a safe environment(track days) I should be able to really test this thing out. Who designs an engine for high output performance, touts the acceleration as a selling point and then governs the thing to top out at 105mph.

If anyone has any comments or questions about it or wants anything specific delved into, let me know. There's probably utility that it has that I haven't found yet. Also, anyone know why we don't have a Tungsten specific forum like they do for every other trim level? Would be nice to have that, not as a members only club, but just a place to find Tungsten specific threads.
I just purchased a Tungsten and found out afterwards that it didn’t have the Park Assist! I see you had the same experience! Is there any recourse you found or what did the dealer say. I’m pretty pissed about it as everything I read said it was standard equipment on the Tungsten. Looking for help / ideas on remedies. Thanks!

They did a pretty good job of adding disclaimers to all the stuff on the website. I know when I ordered mine, I was under the assumption that it would have Park Assist. They subsequently changed the website to say late availability. So, maybe middle of next year they'll actually start adding that to new ones coming off the line. I used it as a negotiating tool when haggling the price. and that seemed to be somewhat effective. Same thing with the Phone as key. They changed that to late availability although most of us are assuming that is just a software update and we'll eventually get that as it is in the uconnect system but missing from the app.

Ram pulled the same stunt with the auto park feature. It shows online as standard feature but is not on any of the new 25 trucks and shows late availability in very fine print now.
I just learned that! Bought a new Tungsten expecting the Park Assist as advertised and got home and couldn’t find it anywhere. Dealer never mentioned it was deleted. Wondering if there is any recourse?

Thanks! I guess I’m screwed as I didn’t find out till after I bought. Seems real sleezy to me although the dealer says they thought it was included as well!

Couple of updates on the Tungsten for you all. Still working great and all the good things I said still hold true. However, in the interest of sharing my experience, here are a few nitpick/minor details on mine that I'm slowly working through.

-- The trailer tow mirrors-- Still adjusting to the size of these things. Definitely creates a blind spot on both sides of the truck that can hide a full size truck. Really only an issue at four way stops when you don't know if the guy crossing your path is actually going to follow the rules of the road and yield the right of way or just do a quick stop and go. Also, really have to look for pedestrians. I haven't hit any yet, but they hide pretty easily.

Also, trying to leave the tilt on reverse on on the mirrors, but I am having the same issues others are. It's great when it works as the mirrors tilt down so you can see the ground better. However, they only return to your previous setting about 75% of the time. So I'm constantly having to adjust the mirrors again. I am getting used to using the convex mirrors more, but the default position of the main mirror has me looking at the sky behind me.

--Moonroof-- The alignment is off. It wasn't like that when I picked it up, I maybe opened it once or twice just trying it out on some warmer days. The passenger side and both rear sides are flush but it sticks up about 1/4 inch on the front driver side. Not experiencing any leaks or airflow, but concerned it may get worse. I did find some info about older moonroofs that had a reset procedure to recalibrate them, it appears to not work on this model. If anyone has any ideas, let me know. Otherwise I'll be at the dealership(I hate counting on them as they really don't have a clue.

-- Cameras -- Cameras are great, very good definition and work like a champ. However the Uconnect system shows the side view when the turn signal is on. Love that and getting used to checking the display before changing lanes. Problem is that when it switches back to apple car play from the mirror view, it first flashes to the home screen for a split second. Not a major issue except when the home screen is still in day mode and your driving at night, so you get a big white flash as it transitions over. I guess the fix would be to set it in night time mode always, but shouldn't have to do this. Those type of workarounds are stupid in my opinion. Their akin to saying "yes my truck has these great convenience features, but using them is inconvenient so just disable them"

--Hand free driving-- Just took a short weekend trip with the wife and daughter to KC so they could run a race down there. Drove south on I29 and used the hands free. Worked like a champ. Super impressed. There were a few times it caught me looking at the display and not the road and it corrected my behavior. About a two and a half hour drive and the truck had me put my hands on the wheel maybe twice. Even in heavy traffic, it handled it amazingly! Yes, I still kept my hands near the wheel and ready to take over in those situations, but really tested it out and it performed better than I expected.

--Gas Mileage-- Sitting at about 1500 miles on the truck right now. Noticing that my daily driving routine hovers around 14MPG. Driving with any aggressiveness at all drops that down to around 10MPG. The trip to KC was varied. On the way there I set the cruise at about 80 and my MPG hovered around 16MPG. On the way back, I set it at 75 and it went up to about 18MPG. A few times I tested it at 70 and got it around 19-20. Two wheel drive vs 4 wheel auto didn't seem to make any difference. The trip between KC and Omaha is fairly level, so while there may have been some slight hills that affected MPG, I'm fairly confident that those numbers hold true.

--Noticed last night that the lights on my Ram boxes didn't come on when I opened them. Apparently there is a light switch/button that I need to look for. Not sure why this wasn't set up with an auto on feature when the lid is open. Or maybe it is and you just need to push the button once first and then leave it on. Anyone familiar with them? Ramboxes are still new to me, but loving them.
The lights in the Ram boxes should come on when u open them. My '22 had this issue and they either adjusted the latch or replaced a fuse. I can't remember.

I think a bunch of us should get together and figure out what our options are. The Trailer Surround View Camera System is the same thing. They are still advertised as being part of the Trailer Tech Group, so when we pay for the option/group, we expect it. But Ram said it's not delivering it, and it's our choice to cancel the order or accept as is. It's just wrong.

The issue with park assist is that there is normally a hard button on the top right of the Uconnect display, and that button is not there. We are kicking around a thought that maybe they decide to implement with a soft button. It's really crazy since this isn't a new functionality - it's been around for several years.

FYI I too am getting around 14 MPG just driving around town on errands with occasional highway driving at 65 mph. I have 600 miles on my truck. I also noticed the same thing with the trailer towing side mirrors, they are huge and block out cars on both sides while stopped at stop light. Good thing my back seat driving wife is there to tell me how to drive and if there are any cars around me.. ;)

Whenever I call the service department I get the standard response that our new trucks are so new that their mechanics don't have all the support or experience with the new electronics. Pretty lame excuse but that is all we can get for support now. I am taking in my truck to try to get the 4 cameras and control box for my travel trailer working on the Uconnect display so they can show the 360 view, just like it shows the 360 view of the truck. Dealer is charging me $195 just to see if they can get it working, something about entering a code for the accessory into the Uconnect system.
;)

If the dealer can’t honor the warranty, then Ram should extend the warranty.
This is just wrong.

I agree something should be done but the question is what. Right now my dealer is looking into it as he also agrees it should be there. But…. I suspect I know where this will go!

The best remedy is to just forget about it. It's a worthless option and that's why they eliminated it. Also, "everything you read" is irrelevant. What's printed on the window sticker and build sheet is all that really matters.
