2025 Tungsten - Good/Bad

With that much horsepower and a light rear end you have to have it in 4wd auto to avoid wheel spin.
And maybe sport mode

Edit: actually, I was trying to be flippant, and I shouldn't have don't that. Sport mode would likely make it worse, by raising the shift point RPMs. You'd rather have it shift earlier, as it does in Snow mode.

Spent a few days with my Tungsten now and figured I could contribute...

---Good---
-Exterior is great. Went over it with a fine tooth comb and all the lines are even and no issues. I get some comments that it looks like many other Rams out there and I like that. The trim level is slightly understated. Anyone that doesn't know what they are looking for will generally not notice that it is anything special. I like that it is a little more reserved and doesn't scream that it is a special truck. Only difference in the exterior with the Limited that I can see is the badging obviously and the front bumper being all one piece.
-Interior is absolutely gorgeous. I was a little weary of the light colored leather, but it's more of a grey than a white and that makes me feel like it won't show as much dirt or wear. Time will tell on that. Love the suede roof liner. The accent lighting is subtle but adds to the looks.
-Comfort- dear lord is this thing comfortable. The seats adjust in 20 different adjustments and I'm still fine tuning the set up. Everything it easily reachable without having to stretch out to push a button. The heating and ventilated seats/steering wheel are coming in handy, but not unlike what you would find on any other vehicle. The massage is the best I've seen any any vehicle and while I've never owned a car with massaging seats, I've test driven quite a few and ridden in many. This one is top notch.
-Sound system- Klipsch knocked it out of the park. Sound is crisp and clear. I have a side hustle helping a friend with a party bus company. He spent a lot of money on loud/top of the line sound systems and the system in this truck is much better in clarity and even loudness than the bus. If the massaging seats are too deep of a massage for you, just turn up the radio and get a nice gentle bass massage. Also, noticed there is not rattle on the truck when the sound is at max like you hear from so many rice burners that the kids are putting systems in.
-Technology- So much going on here. I'm finding new things every day that I didn't even know about. I spent a couple of hours going through the Uconnect system looking at every single option and I'm going to end up going back through it all to adjust and find more things.
-Rear view Mirror-Took me a minute to figure out how to flip it to digital mode, but love it. Very clear image that works well regardless of lighting situation.
-Exterior cameras-Love the surround view. Love that the center console switches to a display of the camera when your turn signals activate. I do wish that the truck displayed in the surround view was the same color as the truck you were in(seems minor, but seems like something they missed at the same time). I do wish there was a quick way to see the cameras when parking. Maybe that's just a learning curve thing, but wish it was there. They have curb view built into it, but it doesn't activate on it's own so you have to navigate some screens to see it. Also wish it would show my front camera when I was parking so I could see how close I am. The park sense seems to be a lot more lenient than my previous 2017 and doesn't start alerting me until I'm closer than I feel comfortable with(again may be a learning curve).
-Trailer Tow Mirrors- I may have messed up by ordering these on a 1500. Might be overkill. They are just so big. I'm getting used to them and having the bigger mirrors is nice for visibility in them, but the can hide a full size truck behind them. Seems to really only be an issue at 4 way stops seeing cross traffic and I'll probably get used to them. I have them set to rotate down when I reverse and that is great. Someone else mentioned that they don't always return to where you had them set when you switch back to drive and I'm paying attention to that, but have not noticed it just yet.
Performance-Still breaking it in and taking it easy on it, but it does have some get up and go. More than a standard Ford Raptor.
Daily Driving-Smooth!!!! The assisted driving on this things performs exceptionally well. The lane assist is smooth and not jerky. I can set the cruise control at the speed limit and the truck will keep with traffic and even stop and start during stop and go traffic. So in that mode, I just have to have my hands on the wheel, but it does everything else. It steers, stops and accelerates from a stop. The only thing you have to do is override it for stop signs and traffic lights. Then there is the hands free driving on select roads(typically interstates and major highways). This works even better. It was nerve wrecking to test, but after only a few attempts at it, I'm very comfortable with trusting it. While it's probably not something that most of us would use on a daily commune or short trips, I can see this being amazing on a long road trip. It's so easy to turn on though, that I find myself turning it on for the short commute home anyway. Even changing lanes is smooth with it. Just flip the signal on and it will check and make the shift one lane at a time. I'll test it more thoroughly, but I believe you have to click the signal off and then back on to change multiple lanes.

---Bad---
-Digital Key- For some reason they call the key card a digital key. I haven't tried the key card yet, but it really seems like a gimmick. I guess it's a lot smaller to carry than the regular key, but you do have to hold it against the door to unlock and then in a certain spot to start the truck. So you still have to pull it out of your pocket as opposed to the regular key or the phone as key. Again, seems gimmicky.
-Phone as key- Advertised and the functionality isn't there. It's in the Uconnect system, but not released in the app yet. So it seems like it's waiting on the phone app to be updated. As others have said, Ram has not announced when this will be available. It would not surprise me if they never release it even though earlier model years have it(or so I believe).
-Automated parking-Another item that was advertised as standard on the Tungsten by Ram, but got changed to late availability. Look I'm fully capable of parking my own truck, that's not the issue. The issue is that you advertised an item as standard and then changed it to late availability. Again, previous model years have this feature. While Ram has updated their website to state late availability, that's not what was on the site when I ordered it.
-Performance-Yes, positive and negative!! Look I know going super fast in a full size truck is not the greatest of ideas and can be dangerous. But if done in a safe environment(track days) I should be able to really test this thing out. Who designs an engine for high output performance, touts the acceleration as a selling point and then governs the thing to top out at 105mph.

If anyone has any comments or questions about it or wants anything specific delved into, let me know. There's probably utility that it has that I haven't found yet. Also, anyone know why we don't have a Tungsten specific forum like they do for every other trim level? Would be nice to have that, not as a members only club, but just a place to find Tungsten specific threads.
Did you get the trailer options/packages? I'm curious if it still comes with four trailer surround cameras.

Mine came with the two additional aux camera inputs near the license plate. I'm not sure about the other two. You also have the digital camera/rear view mirror which is located at the third brake light.

Added the additional storage box under the seat. It works great to organize storage. However, added weathertech mats and its a little bit of a pain to get to the underfloor storage boxes as the mats slightly go under the underseat storage box. Just FYI for those considering...
The new weathertech mats are more plastic now than rubber and much less flexible. Anybody use anything else? Its the only mat I could get in gray and they look pretty good in the Tungsten interior.

I was on my phone when I replied last time, and couldn't see your sig block, so didn't realize that it looks like you didn't get the Towing Tech Group (TTG). That's supposed to include a set of four additional cameras in a box (along with miles of coax cables, mounting brackets, and a fairly large concentrator box). This is the Trailer Surround View Camera Systems - XN1.
I'm curious if anyone is getting that with the TTG, and what they think.

But also curious is anyone is getting any other separate cameras with the truck if they have any of the other towing packages. Others have mentioned an Aux camera that can be mounted on the back of a trailer, connects to rear bumper on driver's side of the license plate, and the feed shows up on the Digital Rearview Mirror. Curious about if anyone is getting that camera, or if it has to be purchased separately.

I checked every box when I ordered my Tungsten, including the towing group. No cameras came with the truck but I did get 4 TPMS sensors in a bag for my trailer tires.

That's interesting. Maybe the build sheets I have are too old. I attached one for Laramie/Limited/Longhorn and a separate one for Tungsten. If you ordered AAN - Towing Tech Group, and you have the Surround View Camera System (XAK) - (which is part of the Limited Level 1 Group), then at least per these build sheets, you should get the four cameras.

If anyone knows different, please let me know. Otherwise, this might be a question for your dealer.

Some more info:

Here's an old thread about it. This camera system was a plus for me, and something I wanted.

I may have answered one of my own questions.
Found this about the AUX Cameras. Only get them if you don't have the CHMSL.

No additional cameras. I actually looked for this at delivery as I thought it came with it since I ordered every available option. It did not. They had another manager come in to help look for them and he said they changed it to an additional order item you need to get through parts. All the hookups are there and the software supports it, but I'll have to order the cameras at a later date.

Did you get the 'Off Road' package?

Don’t have a 2025 mine is a 2024 and have the Ram rubber mats which are pliable and very grippy. I’ve had Whethertech doe many years on many different vehicles. No more! Tried buying them for my previous F150’s and they were hard plastic-eee. Hated them. Bought some for the wife’s 2021 Honda Pilot. Same thing. Crap slides all over her rear seat area. Went with Husky mats on previous truck and they were very grippy and rubber like. Never again with Whethertech

Yes I have had 4 limiteds (before the Tungsten) and my 2024 has the off-road package too. It’s stiffer and raised 1” over standard. I like it a lot.

Question for those have used it....

The new glovebox screen. Is it just a gimmick? Nobody has really given much review of it. Can the passenger see the Maps that are displayed on the main entertainment screen? Can they adjust radio stations? What about if someone uses Apple CarPlay or Android Auto...do those things get carried over to the passenger screen at all?

Also, for the bigger main screen, did they just move some of the buttons/switches that were usually down at the bottom (disable parking sensors, trailer controls, etc.) to the screen? Are they always present at the bottom of the screen or can you hide them and use the entire screen?

Thanks and I am VERY jealous of everyone's Tungstens!! I have a 2023 Ram 1500 Limited and I don't think I can part with it...as it's the last EcoDiesel they sold. But I do like all of these new features coming.

Yes to both questions. The passenger screen is a gimmick in my opinion. I preferred the second glovebox.

The larger main screen is not an improves over the 12” previous one. Just made physical buttons digital and they cannot be hidden.

Haven't played with the passenger screen much. Driver cannot see it when it's on, it's shaded out from the sides. Have to be right in front to view. Some controls but what's intriguing to my kids is the HDMI connection. I pretty sure they can play games/movies, etc.

Disagree with the opening salvo, as someone who travels with a family a lot the passenger screen is in no way a 'gimmick'. It has been exceptionally valuable :)

Yes, they can.
