2025 Tungsten - Good/Bad

Piggybacking off the camera topics, is it possible to add your own TTG with the tow mirrors and updated door panel switch? Not sure what kind of software change or module would be needed to activate the side cameras in the trailer mirror? I also wanted to swap out the CHMSL to the one with the cargo camera as well. Wish it could be wired into one of those factory AUX 1 and 2 lines.

Well this is the coolest. I tow many trailers for a living. Truck tests the trailer lights for a few minutes when you hook up the trailer! Tried to attach movie but doesn't look like I can. Tests brake lights, left turn, right turn, then reverse lights!

Finally, some good news!

That's interesting. Maybe the build sheets I have are too old. I attached one for Laramie/Limited/Longhorn and a separate one for Tungsten. If you ordered AAN - Towing Tech Group, and you have the Surround View Camera System (XAK) - (which is part of the Limited Level 1 Group), then at least per these build sheets, you should get the four cameras.

If anyone knows different, please let me know. Otherwise, this might be a question for your dealer.

Some more info:

Here's an old thread about it. This camera system was a plus for me, and something I wanted.
For anyone interested, I confirmed that Trailer Surround View Camera System (XN1) was removed from the build sheets (after myself and others ordered). It's still on the On-Line builder (screen grab below), but that is no longer correct. XN1 will no longer be part of any group for any Ram (1500 and/or HD). If you want it, it's a little over $1k to buy from Mopar.

Ram pulled the same stunt with the auto park feature. It shows online as standard feature but is not on any of the new 25 trucks and shows late availability in very fine print now.

It's not right. Just as the Smart Phone as a Key not working isn't right. One difference between these and the cameras is that they at least plan to fix the smart phone and auto park in the future with software releases (so-called "late availability"), whereas the cameras are a solid loss to us. Ram admits to breaching the contracts, but offers nothing other than a chance to order another new truck without the group (and wait - again). They could easily make the camera issue right by simply including the cameras per the contracts we had. There really can't be more than a handful of us that ordered that package before the build sheets changed. It's just the cost of being an ethical business. If someone ordered or bought a truck based on a build sheet or window sticker that doesn't include it, then it's all good to not include them.

Very disappointing.

If you re-order (as implied) does the MSRP of the truck go down? If so, you may have a good argument that they should issue you a credit.

If you order without the Tow Tech Group (TTG), then the price goes down by the cost of the group ($1045 - MSRP). But if you want the other features in that group (12-way connector, digital rear view mirror, trailer hitch line-up assist, and trailer reverse guidance), then you keep TTG and the price is the same.
I agree there is a good argument for a credit, but we'll never see it. Ram is just quietly sweeping this under the rug.
And they still haven't updated the RamTrucks.com build tool. Basically the definition of false advertising.

Just to be clear. I know the iPhone as key is being fixed via software update but the auto parking feature is missing the button on all these trucks and I do not believe it will be fixed via an update. Have you heard otherwise?

Considering how many "buttons" are now built into the software, I think it's quite possible. But I haven't heard anything specific.

I haven't heard anything definitive, to be fair. I thought I saw some videos that showed the button, but after going back and double-checking, I think the one video I saw (screen grab below) was some sort of promotional for the REV, even though the video was titled 2025 Ram 1500 Tungsten. My mistake. You're absolutely right, the hard button is missing, so that seems to be a bad omen. But Ram continues to show the auto park is "late availability." Like PetePA said, it could potentially be implemented with a soft button.
I don't understand the issue with this, since it's been available on five previous model years. Once again, some basic transparency from Ram would be nice.

No additional cameras. I actually looked for this at delivery as I thought it came with it since I ordered every available option. It did not. They had another manager come in to help look for them and he said they changed it to an additional order item you need to get through parts. All the hookups are there and the software supports it, but I'll have to order the cameras at a later date.
Do you happen to have a part number for the trailer cameras?

This is becoming more interesting, so hoping someone else can shed more light on this.
Below are the p/n sticker from the box/kit (per other customers), and the instruction sheet for it.
I tried to find this online to get a price. That was a dead end. Mopar doesn't seem to sell this anymore. P/N that ends with AE is the backup camera (single).

I found a forum post somewhere that said this p/n was replaced with 68527709AC. I didn't have much luck with that either. Found one place selling it, but noted it was for 3500.
Found this on eBay: 2022 2023 RAM 2500 3500 360 Camera For Trailer Genuine Mopar 68527709AC-001 OEM for sale online | eBay

Well I bought that camera kit 68527709AD-001 with pkg date of 2024/01/16 and plugged it all into my 12 pin connector on my truck and can only see 2 camera images on the screen under Aux1. Not the true 360 view that I have for the truck. I bought my camera system on ebay for $450 hoping it would work. I called the local dealer and they said they could try to activate the 360 trailer camera option for $195, notice they said TRY. They said that the new 2025 model and it's accessories are NOT fully supported yet by Stellantis so getting support via the STAR ticket system can take a couple of days at best.
Now I am wondering if I could take that $195 and purchase the Alfaodb software, ODB2 interface and security bypass wiring harness to activate the 360 trailer camera system, if that is even possible? It seems nobody as of yet has done that with the 2025 1500 truck so do I get to be the first guinea pig for this endeavor????
Are there any other guinea pigs out there that have already done this, please come forward and share you knowledge!

i dont think Alpha obd will work with the 25s yet since the new wiring network changes on the model year with the encryption.

I'm told by a dealer that the part number for 2025 Ram 1500s for the 360 surround camera system is 82216421AE. Further, I'm told that it may take some refresh of the Uconnect software, but there was no mention of any charge associated with it. I can't find 68527709AD at Mopar. Again, this system is an advertised feature in the Trailer Tech Group.

I'll continue to follow. Really hope someone can help you. You might check out the HD forums - there is a lot of info on these systems there.

My truck is STILL at the body vendor. Been there for just about a month.

After a 9 month wait, I finally received my RAM Tungsten from Mark Dodge. After gleaning a lot of information from users on this forum, I wanted to share my experiences after 4 days and 1100 miles:

Good Stuff:
1. Purchased through Mark Dodge (Anthony and team) in Lake Charles LA (I live in MO). The purchase process went well, the price I paid was very fair and in-line with what Mark Dodge offers all buyers. Delivery, and trade-in was seamless and quick. The only minor issues during acceptance were no digital keycard was available (will be sent to me), and the lumbar seat control didn't work; service manager was aware of this problem but did not have a solution. This should have been disclosed. Even with these minor nits, I would still highly recommend Mark Dodge.
2. The truck runs and drives exceptionally well. No drivetrain issues at all, very powerful and smooth.
3. Ride quality is exceptional, as is the cabin comfort.
4. Klipsch sound system is great and as good as if not better that the Bowers and Wilkens system in my Volvo.
5. Hands free driving was easy to use and worked very well (used on and off for at least 150 miles). It did feel to me there was a tendency for the system to hug the left side of the drive lane, but I got used to it.
6. Seat massage function is great.

My first impressions were really good until halfway through my road trip when things started going wrong.

Not so good stuff:
1. Already mentioned the lumbar seat control issue and later found that none of the seat controls in the Uconnect system work (with exception of massage).
2. Automatic Emergency breaking stopped working - service required message.
3. Blind spot monitoring stopped working - service required message.
4. Hands free driving stopped working - service required message.

I don't have any codes for the above issues yet but will share when/if I get them. Taking the truck into the dealer tomorrow and hoping this doesn't turn into a protracted ordeal. At this point I'm pleased with my purchase and expect the issues I'm having to be worked out. That said, this kind of stuff should not happen to start with and point to SW and/or HW quality control problems at the factory. I'll follow-up with dealer fixes.
The seat/lumbar issue has been resolved for many people by updating the software to the current version. That is something that ALL dealers should verify before selling a $90K vehicle. I find other nuisance issues with my new Tungsten, the most frustrating to me personally is the inability to increase the default font size on the UCONNECT 5 system. You have a gigantic 14.5” screen, but the font size is minuscule for some reason. I also find it somewhat “cheap” to eliminate electronic steering column controls in a vehicle in this price range. My 2015 Toyota Tundra even has this feature. I do love the HO Hurricane engine, the air suspension, and the quality of the interior finishes. This is my first RAM. I hope I get the same reliability that I have experienced with my previous F150’s and Tundras over the next 100,000+ miles.

What color tungsten did you get? Would you pick the same color if you ordered it again?
I ended up having to get the Black truck - my least favorite color, but the only one available within 500 miles with the options I wanted. I really wanted to get the Grey color.

i have had sporadic operation or should I say lack of operation of my lumber operation in my 25 limited. I went a whole week, and it would not even work. made an appointment to get it looked at and low and behold that morning it started working again. as far as I know I am running the most current software before that happened.

Couple of updates on the Tungsten for you all. Still working great and all the good things I said still hold true. However, in the interest of sharing my experience, here are a few nitpick/minor details on mine that I'm slowly working through.

-- The trailer tow mirrors-- Still adjusting to the size of these things. Definitely creates a blind spot on both sides of the truck that can hide a full size truck. Really only an issue at four way stops when you don't know if the guy crossing your path is actually going to follow the rules of the road and yield the right of way or just do a quick stop and go. Also, really have to look for pedestrians. I haven't hit any yet, but they hide pretty easily.

Also, trying to leave the tilt on reverse on on the mirrors, but I am having the same issues others are. It's great when it works as the mirrors tilt down so you can see the ground better. However, they only return to your previous setting about 75% of the time. So I'm constantly having to adjust the mirrors again. I am getting used to using the convex mirrors more, but the default position of the main mirror has me looking at the sky behind me.

--Moonroof-- The alignment is off. It wasn't like that when I picked it up, I maybe opened it once or twice just trying it out on some warmer days. The passenger side and both rear sides are flush but it sticks up about 1/4 inch on the front driver side. Not experiencing any leaks or airflow, but concerned it may get worse. I did find some info about older moonroofs that had a reset procedure to recalibrate them, it appears to not work on this model. If anyone has any ideas, let me know. Otherwise I'll be at the dealership(I hate counting on them as they really don't have a clue.

-- Cameras -- Cameras are great, very good definition and work like a champ. However the Uconnect system shows the side view when the turn signal is on. Love that and getting used to checking the display before changing lanes. Problem is that when it switches back to apple car play from the mirror view, it first flashes to the home screen for a split second. Not a major issue except when the home screen is still in day mode and your driving at night, so you get a big white flash as it transitions over. I guess the fix would be to set it in night time mode always, but shouldn't have to do this. Those type of workarounds are stupid in my opinion. Their akin to saying "yes my truck has these great convenience features, but using them is inconvenient so just disable them"

--Hand free driving-- Just took a short weekend trip with the wife and daughter to KC so they could run a race down there. Drove south on I29 and used the hands free. Worked like a champ. Super impressed. There were a few times it caught me looking at the display and not the road and it corrected my behavior. About a two and a half hour drive and the truck had me put my hands on the wheel maybe twice. Even in heavy traffic, it handled it amazingly! Yes, I still kept my hands near the wheel and ready to take over in those situations, but really tested it out and it performed better than I expected.

--Gas Mileage-- Sitting at about 1500 miles on the truck right now. Noticing that my daily driving routine hovers around 14MPG. Driving with any aggressiveness at all drops that down to around 10MPG. The trip to KC was varied. On the way there I set the cruise at about 80 and my MPG hovered around 16MPG. On the way back, I set it at 75 and it went up to about 18MPG. A few times I tested it at 70 and got it around 19-20. Two wheel drive vs 4 wheel auto didn't seem to make any difference. The trip between KC and Omaha is fairly level, so while there may have been some slight hills that affected MPG, I'm fairly confident that those numbers hold true.

--Noticed last night that the lights on my Ram boxes didn't come on when I opened them. Apparently there is a light switch/button that I need to look for. Not sure why this wasn't set up with an auto on feature when the lid is open. Or maybe it is and you just need to push the button once first and then leave it on. Anyone familiar with them? Ramboxes are still new to me, but loving them.
