2025 Ram 1500 Current Owners - Discussion, Feedback, and Problems

We have had our '25 1500 SST Laramie since July and are now at 2600-miles or so. So far it has been a less than happy experience as we've had it back in for:
  • Front Sensor unavailable (dealer said a bad ground wire in the connector, so they spliced one in  instead of replacing the harness)
  • Miss-fire codes P03xx - twice, first time they blamed it on 87octane gas and cleared the codes, the second time the PCM flash became available. So far so good?
  • Passenger window auto-up not working - twice, first time they needed to order parts. Waited several weeks to parts to come it, but then it didn't fix the issue. Second time, so far so good
  • Front parking sensor intermittently inactive - dealer claimed to fix it, but still struggling with intermittent functionality
  • Surging/stumbling intermittently at low RPM - dealer couldn't replicate, so no action
  • Dead battery- they blamed an accessory cable connected into the 12v dashtop socket, but nothing was connected to the cable. The device (dash cam) was inside the house.
    • One thing I noticed last night after the truck had been sitting for several hours. I happened to walk by and I heard a click-swish like the fuel pump priming or releasing. Way too long after we parked it for it to be drawing power from the battery (IMO)
Then there is the stuff that is not living up to the window-sticker:
  • Fuel economy on highway is nowhere near the published 21mpg and is actually sitting around 18mpg (makes me wonder what other numbers are misleading... like hp?)
  • Dealer directive to use premium fuel in hot weather and to avoid misfires
So far, we've been without our truck for almost 19days out of the last 4months and we now have the ESC recall to look forward to in a month. <sigh>

I really want to love the truck. The power delivery is smooth and it pulls well. The interior is great (Sea Salt / Bison Brown ) the infotainment is cool in how many features and options.

But right now I don't know that I would trust it to drive out of the county.
Humm well let’s start with the noise after beening parked. The aux water pump will continue to monitor turbo temp until it reach’s a certain temp so it continued at a very low draw pumping coolant threw the turbo’s..The next issue about the 12V is that that module will continue to supply power to that cable until you removed it from the socket..Also while on power ports I am talking off point here is that the USB ports cable locations located below the center stack will remain in the “on”position for about 45 minutes I believe as that this feature allows the owner with a dead cell phone to continue to charge while you pop into a store and back out and if the temp on the cell phone is low it will increase the charging rate while monitoring the battery temp. Also I see some here have reported there phones are not charging on the pad position this could be because you must located the phone in a certain location as to the right of the blue/red light indicator if out of position it will illuminate the red briefly and then stop the attempted charge. So you may not catch it because it is quite fast blue to red..Surging on start is complete normal with a cold start or a partial warm start. This is fast idle feature for oil and water for the turbo’s this is the software that is in this truck 3.0L DNA.Also I am not sure why the dealer did not give you the TSB update for misfire and hesitation on acceleration. The service writer may have misunderstood and I would return to them and requested the TSB base on acceleration hesitation.I have had both and the truck really runs well, there is the slight lag from turbo but so minor because the accel rate is so very fast now…Also I had a host of codes like you and most were from Sterling Heights assembly.QA caught these based on field reports from dealer and went into the assembly storage and work through a bunch of trucks. Also my service manager said some were when tech’s took them out of “Shipped” mode and did not clear them then.So again pulling a battery cable does nothing at all.Just reset’s the counter and after so many run condition the fault will return..He also pointed out that auto zone code reader will not show the real story due to the gateway security so if you don’t have a MILPOD from a dealer good luck reading and clearing code..

Hey guys just got my 2025 Rebel X and I am absolutely in love. Traded in my 2020 Rebel. I’m a little disappointed at the lack of aftermarket for exhaust and cai but I understand it’s a new engine/model. Just curious if anyone is finding anything cool out in the aftermarket specifically for the 2025. I’m most likely ordering the BMS JB4 tuner as I’m familiar with their products and love them in my BMW. What’s everyone finding?View attachment 193056
I live in NW Illinois. I drove a few hours south and was able to purchase this $15k under sticker price. Well worth my 2 hour drive. I actually went to purchase another one in the Sand color but my wife hated it and this forged blue really pops in person
Sharp truck! I drove a few hours to buy from them as well.

I'm not sure that this is 2025 specific but when was the front facing radar moved into the bumper? I know on my 2021 it was all inside in the DASM. I know RAM is not the only manufacturer to put it in the bumper but there was some light wet snow on my way to work this morning and not long after getting on the highway I got the message that auto emergency braking was unavailable and just for giggles I tried to turn on adaptive cruise control which also was not working.

Inside the cabin where the windshield wipers will clear snow from the path of the radar sensor makes sense, why do manufacturers put them in the bumper where slush will accumulate and cause systems to not work?

Also, I had a coupon from the dealer for a free first maintenance visit so I took it in for an oil change at 9,800 miles and no issues with oil level. It is showing one bar below the full line or whatever it is called, it was on the full line when I got the truck and went down one bar a thousand or so miles ago. Not sure if I haven't met the requirements for oil level to refresh of if the dealer didn't fill it quite all the way back up.

I reset the onboard MPG and found after a week of city driving (like a grandma on the throttle) I was showing 11.6. that's horrible! I got 17-ish from my Raptor driving the same roads the same way. It had 4.10 gearing and ran 35" tires (at only 34PSI). I hopped on the freeway last might for a 70ish mile round trip, I averaged only 19.1 going 55 to 70 MPH. something is wrong with this truck.

I’ve also found that mileage improves after 7k miles or so

The rebel I traded had 3.5 lift and 35 inch tires and average about 3 miles per gallon better than I’m seeing in the new truck. Same commute, same driving style. Still love the truck but the mpg is a bit disappointing. I didn’t expect to be a great deal better than the Hemi I just didn’t expect it to be worse

Hit 1k on the odometer in the '25 Rebel. Just sharing my experiences.

No problems to speak of. It's going quite well actually.

Really like the Hurricane engine. Took it out on the interstate and a few back roads. Can really feel the power and acceleration. Passing other vehicles was quite easy. Gets up to cruising speed with ease. A lot of horses left to accelerate and overtake.

Went on a short trip up I95 and took advantage of some light traffic to experiment with the handling at highway speed. Very smooth and responsive. It was a quiet and comfortable trip. Wind noise was non-existent.

Haven't had the opportunity to hook up the trailer and side by side. That will happen soon. The weather in southeast Georgia is perfect for a ride right now.

I probably just jinxed it.
