180 degree thermostat

That makes no sense. If you take a 180° tstat and the stock ~202°, both are wide open by 203° and the 180° would offer zero advantage over the stock unit especially at 225°+. The tstat opening isnt larger on the 180°, it just opens sooner, if youre getting up to 225, something else is wrong, altitude, air in the system, collasped hose, blockage but the t-stat isnt the issue
Well my headlights are brighter and taillights too..

So what?

People are not arguing that a 180 degree thermostat will not run cooler.
Yes they absolutely were.

Exactly what benefit does the 5.7 see from a meager 30 degree difference in temperature; especially when it was designed to run at the higher temperatures.

If you don't think the lower temp is a benefit, that's your decision. Doesn't matter to me what temps you want to run at.

Yes they absolutely were.

Most weren't arguing that it wouldn't run cooler, but that a thermostat isn't going to prevent a truck from overheating, that was already overheating with a working 203 degree thermostat. Once the thermostat is fully open, the flow rate is the same. So if you were hitting 250 degree coolant temp before, you are still going to hit 250 degrees coolant temp, under same conditions. You just have a little more time before it does.

Whether it's a benefit or not would be up to the individuals opinion. If it makes you feel better, then that's a benefit.

Yes, and that's a benefit of opposing views on a social media forum. If a few people learn that there is no benefit to what they are thinking about doing, they will instead feel better about not wasting their money.

The point of my comments on this thread is that there is a measured benefit to spending a few bucks and 20 mins on a tstat replace. Some here are just ignorant of the effect, others insist there is no change, and others simply don't care.

You are confusing a measurable change with a measurable benefit. There is no evidence whatsoever than reducing the temperature a meager 40 degrees provides any benefit whatsoever in the 5.7 Hemi designed to run at the hotter temperature..

As I said, I'm not concerned about your feelings on the subject. My comments are factual for those who are interested in actually doing this and the effect it has.

In other words, you have no evidence whatsoever of any kind of benefit.

In other words I know who you are and I'm not wasting my time anymore. Been there done that. This "discussion" won't end up any different than the last 50 you were in.

Typical 3rd grade "I'm taking my ball and going home" response when someone is incapable of supporting a position.

I'm not arguing with you, your type doesn't accept proof. When's the last time you admitted you made a mistake on this forum?

Most of my debates are with fools encouraging others to waste their money who refuse to provide proof for their foolish claims. Provide some evidence of benefit to your foolish claim and I'll admit I'm wrong.

I think we're done here.

Ok, well that was a productive conversation. Im thinking about putting a 190 thermostat in mine. (Maybe 180 but that seems to ruffle some feathers) Hitting over 220 when towing 6k camper in 50* ambient. Would not mind running a bit cooler than that. But, but the computer will add more fuel! Thats ok I have a S&B intake, AWE exhaust suite, catch can and Im into the throttle pedal quite a bit anyway. If anything more fuel is probably a good thing with how opened up my Hemi is. According to our AI overloads 240 is overheating and 250 is critical. A 20* window between “happy engine” and “overheating” is a bit too close for my comfort. Im at 83k on my 2019 5.7 so Im ready for a coolant flush and weighing my options here. From what I gathered from the fragmented conversation is 203* is factory and people see much lower temps with a 180. Im thinking a 190 to keep it closer to factory but reduce coolant temp somewhat while towing.

Also, for the record, I was running an oil filter relocation kit which helped oil and coolant temps somewhat but lowed oil pressure about 5psi and right now it is removed to get new seals. May or may not reinstall.

I've almost always installed lower temp t-stats in my vehicles.
To be of any real use, a computer tune to match the radiator fans to the lower t-stat is necessary.
I'd definitely install a 190° or a preferred 180° stat if I were installing a tune..which Diablosport doesn't have for 5.7 Etorque G/Ts with paddle shifters yet..maybe HP Tuners??
On my Challenger SRT392, I had a 180° stat, a Diablosport tuner, and then set the fans to 185L, 189M, 192H and it was much better all around.
If I could get a tune, I'd swap stats asap..these Rams smell hot often, escially if you run it in only Tow/Hual Mode, which I do.
I'll look forward to hearing about your experience if you do a stat.

You can leave the computer/fan stock and still see a major benefit by running (for example) a 180. If you want the fan to come on sooner, that is yet another benefit and thing you can do, but it doesn't have to be done to see a benefit.

The 180 by itself is so effective in my usage, I personally don't need to worry about the fan.
