That makes no sense. If you take a 180° tstat and the stock ~202°, both are wide open by 203° and the 180° would offer zero advantage over the stock unit especially at 225°+. The tstat opening isnt larger on the 180°, it just opens sooner, if youre getting up to 225, something else is wrong, altitude, air in the system, collasped hose, blockage but the t-stat isnt the issue
Well my headlights are brighter and taillights too..

So what?

People are not arguing that a 180 degree thermostat will not run cooler.
Yes they absolutely were.

Exactly what benefit does the 5.7 see from a meager 30 degree difference in temperature; especially when it was designed to run at the higher temperatures.

If you don't think the lower temp is a benefit, that's your decision. Doesn't matter to me what temps you want to run at.

Most weren't arguing that it wouldn't run cooler, but that a thermostat isn't going to prevent a truck from overheating, that was already overheating with a working 203 degree thermostat. Once the thermostat is fully open, the flow rate is the same. So if you were hitting 250 degree coolant temp before, you are still going to hit 250 degrees coolant temp, under same conditions. You just have a little more time before it does.

Whether it's a benefit or not would be up to the individuals opinion. If it makes you feel better, then that's a benefit.

Yes, and that's a benefit of opposing views on a social media forum. If a few people learn that there is no benefit to what they are thinking about doing, they will instead feel better about not wasting their money.

The point of my comments on this thread is that there is a measured benefit to spending a few bucks and 20 mins on a tstat replace. Some here are just ignorant of the effect, others insist there is no change, and others simply don't care.
