I have had the gator efx for a year now and love it. No issues, a little water gets in but they all do that for the most part. The efx is also on sale right now for $599 on realtruck.com. mine has held up, no dents, takes minutes to fully remove and put back on.
My guess is the tires. A lot of guys tend to do tires at the same time as the bilsteins and end up going with an E rated tire and then think its the bilsteins.
They felt great to me with factory tires. Once I went to E rated MT, I immediately could tell the change(in a bad way) in ride quality but thankfully I know the bilsteins are not to blame.
Hahaha, I had the same dilema as to which way I liked them better when I was putting them on and ultimately just went with how they were installed on most trucks.
Finally got around to adding the maxtrac 1.5" rear spacer..so as it stands now...setting #6 in front and the 1.5" in back to get some rake back. Very happy with the stance for less than $300 in suspension components
I have not come across to much info on using rear spacers with factory rear shocks. I have a standard 4x4 bighorn, no ORP, and I would like to know if there are any issues running a rear spacer with the factory shocks. I am looking at the Maxtrac 1.5" specifically. I have the bilstein 5100s in...
If they are just "heavy duty", not longer, and provide no lift over the other non ORP springs(non heavy duty?), I am still not seeing how you would have gained any extra lift.
No problem. I cant confirm the stud alignment statement but all the install videos stressed it as if it were possible that it could be put back in wrong.
It will probably impossible for you to see on yours with them still in the truck but in the photo I am attaching the more pointed section stud(red arrow) should be pointing out toward you during install and the "rounder" edge studs would be toward the back(closest to engine). Just another way to...
The top of that strut housing should have been marked from the top down to the top of the spring so everything is aligned, if not you can easily have the top housing put back on wrong. Those 3 bolts that hold the top of the strut to the tower have to go back in the same exact way!. Yes the...
Sorry the rear was 40 1/8 not 41 1/8...yeah my tires are a little over 34". By any chance did the mechanic "bounce" the front end before final torque down of LCA,UCA mounting bolts and sway bar bolts?. I know in the video I keep referencing it states to do so. I simply jacked it up(tires back on...
Reference the video link I posted. Those torque specs do not match the 5th gen install video I referenced. It was for a leveling kit but works the same for removal and reassembly, minus taking the strut apart and swapping everything over. I will say that the tuffcountry looks like a lot less...
