2025 Ram 1500 Current Owners - Discussion, Feedback, and Problems

So I do have the same electrical box underneath. Funny enough, the issue did not occur on my drive home today. Go figure. If it happens again, I'll schedule a service and let the manager know of others' issues expressed here. I've referenced this forum in the past for my 2019, and it helped motivate service.

FWIW, I abuse my unlimited wash subscription and get at least 10 washes a month, with undercarriage, and only had this issue start up about 2 weeks ago.

Cheers

Oh man, so tempted on the unlimited wash idea…

Find a place the does the inside as well and you’re golden. Just keep the truck relatively clutter free and it will always be clean. Don’t even have to do the windows anymore. I get mine washed inside and out at least once a week.

This has nothing to do with the trailer brake controller, as i don't have one. This is a 2025 discussion thread and I am wondering if anyone else is experiencing this issue. If this is considered hijacking, I apologize to the OP
It appears to me that all of the wiring from the back of the truck passes through this connection. It may be that the wiring for a trailer brake is in that connection whether you actually have the brake system or not. I’m not an auto-computer guy, but that logic may exist in the computer. I could see how if there were an issue with water in this connection where all these circuits connect, you could be seeing phantom alerts on any or all of them. My first experience it set 47 codes. On my last two events there were 21 codes. How many codes were set when this “trailer brake system” showed up?

I absolutely agree with you that this connection housing is a red flag. I haven't had the truck looked at and don't own a reader so no clue what codes I'm experiencing atm. If this part is the issue, which you seemed to have confirmed with the dealer, then I think this will end up being a widespread issue soon

I went to the auto parts store to buy me a reader and was told that all of their readers were one year behind. They said the OEM held on to everything for that first year. I had never heard that before but when I checked with the scanner manufacturer they said the same thing.

Searched under a different RAM truck forum, found this post about the 2025's:
(begin copied post)
"2025’s use a different canbus architecture, and there are no canbus junction blocks like the kaodtech bypass plugs into. All of the modules are “daisy chained” together on several different “networks”, and they all go through the security gateway, which is now completely different. I’ve been messing with a new gateway on the bench for a while now, and it’s not going to be as easy as the older style gateway bypass cables.

Even after the gateway is bypassed, it’s not the same using alfaobd as everyone is used to on the pre-2025 ram trucks. After making configuration changes, you need to perform a proxi alignment so all the modules get “aligned” with the newly introduced changes."

Then a reply stated:
"The 2023 WL grand Cherokee uses the same bcm as the 2025 rams, so just for the heck of it in the meantime, you can try connecting to your body computer as a 2023 WL, and see if you can navigate around. You’ll have to go into alfaobd settings and check the box for “do not verify ECU”.
See if you can read things like system status and system ID…"

End of copied posts.

Now these were from Fall of 2024 so don't know how accurate the info is.

UPDATE: Dealer is saying that they want to replace the PCM but apparently Stellantis doesn't have any available. I told them great, have them pull one off a truck on the assembly line. (Service guy wasn't amused) I have heard nothing back from Customer Care so I called them and my case manager wasn't available but was told they are looking into buying it back.

Confirmed - the wireless charging works perfectly if I pull the phone upwards slightly and better align the charging coil.

For anyone with the same issue who stumbles on this post, do a search for your phone and the charging coil location. You'll see what I'm talking about vs. iPhone charging coil location.
After several more weeks of fiddling with this I've found that the passenger side wireless charger ALWAYS works first try when I position my phone correctly but the driver's side charger RARELY works.

Anyone have any ideas? I'm leaning towards a defective charging pad but I'm dreading taking my truck in again.

Yeah, the only thing I know is that if the case is dirty, it can cause the charging pad’s foreign object detection to go off.
Have you tried with a naked phone? Does that improve anything?

Good luck. I've had a PCM on order for my RHO since 2/3. I think there are currently 130+ on order and I'm told I am #8 on the list. Ram Cares won't even call me back. My case manager hasn't picked his phone up since 2/10. I call daily for updates. The parts ETA pushes back 3 days, every 3 days. There is no real ETA. I had my truck for about 2 days. 327 miles.

For your truck, I would ask the dealer to pull a PCM off a truck on the lot and see if that fixes it, rather than waiting. I would have my dealer do the same, but they do not have any RHO's. All 2025 3.0L PCM's have the same P/N , just different software. Another Rebel should work for you as a swap, or so I'm told.....

They can’t even if they wanted to. The dealership scan tool doesn’t have the ability to program a used PCM to a vehicle (and most aftermarket tools don’t either).

Has anyone with a Big Horn 12” received software updates? My version is: FCA-MY24.U35.26-PROD. I’ve never gotten an update (owned since October) and am wondering if I’m on the newest version. Thanks

That makes sense. I was just told, and assumed if it was the same year, model, and options, it could be swapped for diagnostic purposes....

Whats wrong with his truck. I have one of the first few rebels made and i tell you i had more electrical crazy gremlins in the first 1000 miles. So i unhooked both batteries for hours not 30 mins. Then hooked littel battery first then big battery and left it for 30 mins before i startedt it. When i started it i put it to run first let it sit for 5 mins so computers can talk to each other before i started it. I did the same start procedure for the next week by put it to run or acc first wait a few mins so computers can talk to each other then start do all your setting and leave itif something dont work dont go turn it off and on or uconnect reset just leave it. I also found i have to maually select profile everytime to get my settings or else sometimes it takes 5 mins driving before they kick in. One problem i have had is my trip a and b just reset to 0 sometimes.

Sounds like his just won’t start. Mine throws codes and check engine lights right at 4500 rpm’s. The code that won’t clear is a cam sensor code. Diagnostic tree states to replace PCM.

Sounds just like what I’m going through! 231 miles and it went crazy! Blind spot, airbags, brakes, the whole deal. Lights and warning all over the place. Took it back and they said water in the left tail light. They replaced lens and wiring loom. After about a week in the shop I got it home. So I thought if it was water intrusion then maybe I should run it through the car wash with the undercarriage spray option. Did not get out of the parking lot. 285 miles it went crazy again. I got under the truck to inspect the connectors expecting to find one not properly plugged together but instead I found what I believe to be a design flaw that almost guarantees water intrusion. I pointed it out to the service manager and the tech but they said it was likely a ground issue. So when they called me back and said they had it ready and for me to come and pick it up, I ask if they had sprayed up under it. He said give me 15 minutes and I’ll spray it. 20 minutes later he called me back and told me it went crazy on them right there in the shop. The service manager called the Field Engineer and he opened up a “Star Case”. The connector junction is directly below the driver’s door and mounted to the outside of the frame. Two wiring looms terminate at this junction with the wiring entering the lid assembly from the top. There are cavities where each of the wiring looms enter the assembly and I can’t see how they can help but fill up with water when it’s wet outside. They said Stellantis was working on the issue and they would contact me when a fix was available. In the meantime, they taped it up with some 3M electrical tape and that should do it until they come up with a permanent fix.
Black electrical tape doesn't do too well in water, I have seen it unravel due to loss of adhesion. I would suggest cleaning off with alcohol then silicon sealer or Gorilla Sealant then fingers to smooth it out and make sure it is sticking. Who knows how long it will take to get it re-engineered. Please show us some pictures so I can check out my truck to see if I will have the same issue.
