OP, the reason your truck does this is because when it’s locked in 4WD the 2 front wheels aren’t able to turn at different speeds (no differential). This causes the symptoms you are talking about and is 100% normal in a 4WD truck.

It might be cheaper/easier if you transferred the lease to him and then he could buy it out. Who is your leasing company?

It definitely had a time based factor in my 2013 Mustang and 2015 Silverado. Next time you let your vehicle sit for a week or so, check your oil life before and after. It should tick down when you don’t drive it.

Thanks for the replies everyone! I believe I changed the oil in March of 2020. I do have records of the oil change but they are literally in the back of my closet with a crap ton of stuff in front of it (will have to dig for it).
I’m kind of surprised dodge didn’t put a time component on the...

Was curious if this has happened to anyone else...

My vented/heated seats only turn on when the outside temperature is hot or cold enough. For instance if it a 70 degrees out my ventilated seats don’t turn on but if it’s 90 degrees they do turn on. Maybe that is what you are describing?

For your future reference, I got a loaded up Laramie, 60k MSRP, leased it for $588/month 36 mo/12k a year, $1500 due at signing. That was a pretty good deal!

Lease programs change month to month you really won’t know until the truck arrives.
I would maybe get them to agree to a certain dealer discount (ie 10% or whatever) right off the bat. And then add in whatever the program for the month is.
It’s definitely a gamble imo.
