HOW TO: Add 360 Surround View Camera System

Ok... Could really use some help... installed my 360 camera system today in my ram. For reference: 2019 1500 Laramie Longhorn with Uconnect 5 12" screen upgrade. I added all the cameras, ran all the wires, installed the cvpm, did the stuff in alfaobd. The soft keys show up (at least some of them: right camera, left camera, rear camera, surround camera... No front?)...BUT I'm getting a blue screen with "Camera system unavailable" on my screen. Can anyone help me out on this? I have the wiring harness from Jimm07 and I'm fairly certain it's plugged in where it's supposed to be (fuse box in F26 with 15 amp fuse) and the can bus connector in a random spot on driver side kick panel.
Thanks for any help in advance!

Its either a power issue or cvpm is not connected to uconnect 5 properly. Thats the only time i have seen blue screen recheck all the connections and make sure the fakra connections didn’t get mixed up. I don’t have front camera softkey as well. It seems like most people don’t. It is however selectable in the 360 mode.

I'm getting the feeling it's a power issue, but I'm not sure how to diagnose that. I have the cvpm connected to where it's supposed to be connected in the fuse box and the ground connected to the lug right beside it. I'm just not sure how to test it. Any suggestions?

I use multimeter and pieces of wire to stick into terminals at connector to see if there is 12v and ground.

I am running into the same issue as @zjmuss. I can not connect to my CVPM and not sure how to determine if it's working or not. After the AlfaOBD changes, I only see the surround view button on the radio screen but it doesn't work, can't tap it. I am using a bypass and MX+, CVPM 56029964AF, and 22r ram BH.

Just to confirm regarding the CVPM power, the fuse goes in slot F26, does fuse 15 (taking out from f26 slot) goes in the fuse tap by itself (there is 2 slots in the fuse tap)?
and the green connector plugs into any open spot on the Can-Bus junction block, with the other green connectors?

Correct the fuse you remove goes into the tap. If you are unable to connect to cvpm with alfa and already probed the connector pins at cvpm with multimeter and have power then its either a bad can bus connection or faulty cvpm. Make sure to check all the pins and connections first.

You should be able to connect to cvpm with alfa atleast even if you have a bad connection to radio. People have gotten bad cvpm before and it could be power issue too. So you will just need to diagnose everything in wiring first to eliminate that.

I am trying to cross and diagnose issues as I go. However, here's what I have so far from the pictures. I measured the CVPM power at 2.3-2.6 V DC (at the Can IHS+ to ground). I thought it was suppose to be 12V, please correct me if I am wrong. If that's the case, it would be a harness issue. @Abhi.K

If anyone have any other suggestions or tips, I would appreciate it.

Can bus lines are usually 2-3.5v so thats not the issue. Check your power and ground wires and make sure you have 12v there

Also i see you only have one fuse in fuse tap? You need to have 2. The outer one is what powers the cvpm. Pin 4 and pin 12 is what you need multimeter on and measure for 12v

Well… that pesky second fuse did the trick. Not sure why I didn’t think about that, but as soon as I added the second fuse, the system came alive!

Now… I am using a used cvpm module… how do I know if it needs calibrated or not? And should my truck have the white/black stripes under it? It currently does… not sure why.

Lol. If you have no image in 360 view with black surroundings around truck you need calibration. I know the tow mirrors get lines all around truck and regular mirrors get lines in front and back only

Ok that helps!! lol I know… stupid questions!! I’m adding a picture of what I see on my screen.
So my next stupid question- is the front/surround camera supposed to come on when I’m pulling forward into let’s say, a parking spot, and my parking sensors start beeping?

Thats another bcm setting you need to make. Its parksense camera activation or something like that. From the image it looks like its already calibrated and good to go.

How does one go about finding out what exactly that setting is called? I am not well versed in alfaOBD! Thanks again for the help!

Idk about windows version but in android there is a search bar. Search for the word camera or activation. Or you can search in forum and see what its exact name is. I assume windows version has search too. Also its a newer year truck bcm thing too idk what year your truck is.

My truck is a 2019.

How difficult was it to change the whole bcm?

I have all the parking sensors already… they go off when I get close to anything in parking lots.

I have detailed posts on it. Check my profile

@Abhi.K So I was able to rule out the power issue, the CVPM is getting 12V. However, the minute I put in the 2nd fuse, the truck goes haywire. Getting "Blind Spot Alert unavailable", "115V cargo outlet not working error" and the 12" screen keeps restarting and flickering on and off. I still can't connect to it thru MX+
What do you think it might be? Everything should be installed correctly.

Either the fuse tap isn’t pushed in all the way or Can bus is shorting out make sure none of the wires are bridged at connectors. Also make sure pins are in right positions in connectors.

I checked everything, all the wires fitted in and pushed in but the problem still there.
I did the BSM mod 2 years ago, so I unplug those 2 from the can bus since I was seeing the blind spot error message in the cluster. But that didn't solve anything, the problem still persist.

At this point it either the harness or cvpm. Something is making the truck short circuit since the screen is flickering in and out, and getting errors in the cluster. Very frustration as I haven't even got to calibration yet.
@Jimmy07 Have you seen this issue before or any recommendations to troubleshoot it?
