HOW TO: Add 360 Surround View Camera System

New Ram owner - silly question. Does this replace/is better than Blind Spot Monitoring? That's the feature I miss the most and see a pretty pricey package for BSM rear lights and mirrors on Infotainment. Or is it 100% for parking/reverse only?
No, it doesn't replace it. Two separate systems for two different uses.

Body computer
instruction mention vehconfig 2-chmsl camera , from my menu, there is nothing mentioned CHMSL under Vehconfig 2 . It is only appear in 1 .

I follow all of the setting . My radio shows nothing , the reverse camera options also disappeared
Not sure what i have done wrong

Hello all I just upgraded my UC4 12 To UC5 12. As part of the process I had to upgrade and calibrate my CVPM for 360 view. I followed the steps provided in this tread and was able to get all cameras except my front camera calibrated. For the front cam the process starts, reaches 100% then fails. Alfa displays “procedure completed”but also says “fail”. Another thing I noticed is there is no front camera soft key on the center stack. Could that be a related problem? Any input would be appreciated. Thanks

Is there a way to know if my current mirrors will support adding a camera? I just learned they’re power folding (kind of neat) and there’s a little panel on the bottom.

They will. You will just need to drill it out and then figure out how to secure them.

Ahhh. Understood. The alternative being buying mirrors that are already specifically made to hold the camera, in which case I assume it’s secure off the bat.

You could buy broken mirrors from a junkyard that have the 360 mirrors. Then use the brackets from them.

I see. I'd be able to pull those brackets and install them in my non-360 power folding mirrors? I know - sort of complicating things. I did projects on my Mazda 6, so not totally unfamiliar, just trying to game out the most efficient (and hopefully most cost-effective) route to this.

Yes

Hello, Is it possible to only install the front OEM camera and not the side mirror cameras? My car has the level 1 package with rear view camera and I just want to add the front camera for tight situations. I'm ok with the 360 view looking strange.... Thanks in advance!

No. This was asked and explained in earlier posts. I added this to the posts in the beginning since it has been asked before.

I went through 2 weeks of buying part, combine information and gets the cameras working.
I bought a 250 USD mopar trailer camera kits. There quite a lot of these things floating around and people get rid of them . They came with 4 cameras ,4 extended long fakra coax cables (5-8meters ) with different color code for Front Back Left Right at CVPM input , a MOPAR plastic Black Box which if open inside, there is a 4 port CVPM , with conversion Fakra cables for different color Fakra connectors, 2 long harnesses which i am still trying to understand it, 1 harness has the input plug for the CVPM , which fit all of the CVPM i bought.

@hydroblue2022TRX : you need to buy a Surround View CVPM . There are 4,5,6 port of input different CVPM models , depends on how many cameras you want to add. I think it will works with all model at least to my 2021 Ram 1500 Laramie. I have tried 3 different CVPMs. Manage to read from Front , Back, Left, Right, and Third Brake light location

you can utilize just the front and back port for your front and backview camera. installation and routing the Coax cable with Fakra connector to this CVPM .

Use OBD Mx+ and Alfa Obd to program and enable the camera options , soft key for this CVPM under Body Computer and Radio .

I am pretty slow myself, have bought a power cable for this CVPM from @Jimmy07 , ask him tons of questions and get this far.

Currently The Front Camera Calibration kept failing .

I am sure if we have the schematics, wiring diagram, canbus design, we would be able to understand which wire, ports that the vehicle canbus system receive the Camera signals, to enable it through the wires . The Uconnect 5.0 they make it easier by adding CVPM and get the Canera signal through it.

It covers the cameras , and set of long fakra cables from camera to cvpm , cable ties … remember u need to retrofit and customize a bit for the front and the back . The back camera i grind and make the plastic holder of the old camera alittle bigger to fit the trailer camera

Would I need to retrofit if I bought cameras straight from Mopar or got them from mirrors I found on eBay or something?

Yes. You would need to drill the holes in your mirrors. The issue is the brackets that hold the cameras are not in the mirror and you cannot buy them. That's why it is recommended that you buy used mirrors and harvest the camera and brackets from them.

hi all, I was going back and forth between just installing a 3rd party front camera and doing this whole project. And then.....

My wife smashed the passenger mirror to bits. :). So, since I need to buy a whole mirror anyways, I figure I might as well do it this way. I know I can retro the 360 camera as discussed above by harvesting the bracket and howefully having it with a working camera. I was going to look on ebay to find one, but when I went on Mopar to figure out what the right mirror assembly is in the first Place, I got utterly overloaded.

I ahve a 2024 power wagon with tow mirrors, blind spot monitor, but no 360. Does anyone know what the part is?
I also wanted to check in and see if I really need to buy a new backup camera as I cant imagine its a different wide angle lens.

If anyone has done the 21-24 2500 reciently that has an updated parts list that would be amazing.

Thanks

I don't know the part numbers for the mirrors, but I can confirm that a new rear camera is 100% required. If it weren't, we wouldn't have it listed as a required part.
