Called to get one and the dealer said they are unable to order due to an engineering hold, they said they would be available again in January.

Just had the bed step installed. In the instructions I posted above, they included nuts for two of the bolts. On my truck, there were already threaded inserts already in place. So now I have extra parts  Also, I checked with the dealer parts department. The bed steps are still on engineering hold, so they can’t order them yet.

Wonder if “engineering hold” means they had to reengineer it due to a failure with the current design?

Regardless, they have a whole bunch of unsolicited "beta testers" on this forum. The design seems sturdy and fits beautifully, but as @edrclark said, there are some spare parts.

The "extra parts" may just be for people who dont have the hitch receiver because I think the bed step uses a couple of the bolts that attach the receiver to the frame. So if you dont have a hitch reciever you'd have to use all the nuts and bolts that came in the kit.

But the real question is why would someone get a truck without a reciever???

The technicians at the dealership hated the instructions. The step is mounted similarly to the old ones, so they went with how it was mounted before and that worked. It fits nice and flush to the bumper.

The dealer doesn’t have them, but if you search online, some of the after market sites have them.

I ordered from Mopar America last week and haven't got a shipping notification yet. Isn't it supposed to be something like 27lbs?

My step is installed, but I looked back at the UPS waybill and it was 13.1 lbs. Not sure what the step and hardware really weighs.

Posted this in the "what did you do to your Ram today" thread back on Oct 13 but should have put the info here.

Installed my bed step! This is hands down the best solution for getting into your bed. I must have gotten the last one shipped before they ran out but I have to say Mopar's packing sucks. It was loose in a cardboard box and had broken through all sides and the hardware bag was torn open. Good thing everything was in there and it's built tough:

And for those keeping track of payload, the step itself weighs 16 lbs. I didn't weigh the three bolts. Also of note, It mounts with three bolts and they include one nut and another captive nut welded to a ~6" steel handle (see in pic above) and the instructions show where to use them but I didn't need either nut since my frame had welded in nuts in all three locations. Maybe they made the frame change in anticipation of selling a lot more of these?

Quick and easy install.

Anyway, it's awesome and I'm going to enjoy it every day I don't get any younger.

Mine was packed very well and yes I agree it’s an easy install and well worth the money in my opinion. :)
