The capacity in watt hours ( or amp hours may be wrong here but its something similar ) is done in alphaobd.

The IBS does a relearn anytime the battery is disconnected. But that is dependent on what its expected capacity and readings are. It then decides how much to undercharge your battery based on voltage and resistance curves

Any idea where is this found in alphaobd, i have not yet located that setting.

Open Alphobd. Select 1500 DS/DX/DT, Body computer, body computer powernet model year.

Hit the car with the hood open icon at bottom. Select car configuration change at the bottom of the list.

Select option
Search IBS ( the magnifying glass )

Pick CBC features IBS3 Battery Capacity. It's Ah.

Add me to the list of the "2019 Dead Battery Club". Thanks @securityguy for the X2 Northstar recommendation. I laugh because I can pretty much stop reading pages and pages of posts once I read your recommendations.

My battery has been slow to crank also - pooping out at 3 years and 3 months.

I went with the same Walmart H8 EverStart Platinum AGM.

The old:

The new:

Fits fine:

My 2019 oem is starting to show the signs of going out now that its been below freezing for longer than a few days. slow to crank, issues with remote start and remote lowering for entry/exit. Guess I am going to have to look at the options you folks have already laid out.

Edit I have looked for this ever start battery hi and low and it appears to be mythical. I can not find one in my area, I however found a Die Hard platinum H8 AGM locally for 210. 900CCA 1000CA, 95ah 3 year free replacement.

Are these any good?

I looked it up in my backup file and here is the result.
IBS3 Battery Capacity (0-252 Ah): 254.000 Ah

I just did the H7 version when my OEM ‘19 died (direct replacement; DieHard Platinum AGM Battery, Group Size H7, 850 CCA). It dropped in perfectly and has worked well.

Per other threads, the H8 should fit with minor adjustments and give you a few more CCAs.

Better to replace it now than wait. You’ll see all kinds of bizarre behavior (lights, pops, half-retracted power steps, etc) when it gets close to dying.

Thanks…that was very nice of you to say!
Thanks from me too for making sure I got the right one. (y)

I got crossed up and thought the X2 was an H8 size instead of the H7 that it is.

Battery died after 2 1/2 years and the X2 is a drop-in replacement. X2 was the only way to go for me as I had two North Stars in my last truck and they were amazing.

The X2 was not cheap but you can't beat the full replacement warranty - 5 YEARS. My battery is guaranteed until late 2026, no matter how good it is. I fully expect to go past that (at least 6 years) based on my last North Star batteries.

Glad i found this thread. Here in MN this AM it is a balmy -11....my 2019 laramie was purchased nov 2018 so this is 3rd full winter...has been starting fine but since i happened upon this thread yesterday i swung into costco after work yesterday and grabbed an Interstate AGM H8. They just received a fresh batch that were produced this month! I will wait for a warmer day or maybe even go until spring and install it. Should be fine sitting a bit as long as not on a cement floor right?

Great choice and much needed! OEM batteries are trash.

That Cement Floor tale is BS. Won’t discharge your battery. Batteries will store just fine in a cold garage also. My race car (scooter and big Zero Turn) sit in the garage (20* - 30*) from Dec – mid March with batteries in that don’t get charged. Never a problem.

I just hooked up a NOCO Genius 2d battery charger/conditioner to my external plug. I've used it (with the block heater) a few times already. Total overkill, but nice to have. I have it hard-mounted next to the battery.

I got an Odyssey H8 AGM battery for my truck. There is a small plastic clip piece that needs to be removed for the H8 to fit.

So do you not need the battery sleeve after you upgrade to the H8 AGM?
