2021 Software and Map Update

Right ... the normal voice navigation stuff still works too .. Like "Find address xxxxx". But the little microphone icon on the search page of navigation is now grayed out. Prior with Guardian and connected services, it was black and live and would use the offline server database which is (was!!!) much more extensive. Alas no longer ... for now.

Taking mine to dealer tomorrow I’ve tried everything I could Uconnect has been useless in support and ramdoesntcare j

Ehh so I took it in they said there was a code they cleared and then it was working so they were like we’re gonna do a reset and disconnect the battery to make sure it stays working. Then it was back to it broken state. So they called guardian and had them unlink my radio like it was a sold truck and then re activate it and then told me to wait 24hrs to see if it starts working again. So far nothing. So Im gonna call them and let them know but they are talking about replacing the whole radio. Im gonna ask if he can just repeat what he did to get it working last time and not do anything else then if it’s working I can wait till Uconnect does a permanent fix

It honestly amazes me that they cant get a handle on the the issues with these radios (19,20,21...) It's really concerning for the longevity of these trucks. You would think they would have specific people to just handle the infotainment due to its importance & complexity in this particular vehicle but it an absolute mess with everyone blaming the other and no one knowing what the hell is going on... Way too many involved (Ram Dealer, Uconnect, HERE navigation, AT&T, SiriusXM/Guardian, Connected Services team, Ram Connect...) Did I miss anything?

It's a real mess. The issue is firmly with Uconnect Connected Services and they admit it. Uconnect told me that SXM Guardian simply uses the Uconnect system and all they basically can tell you is if you have signed up for their services, i.e. have an account. I've been waiting (patiently for now for over two weeks) for Uconnect to assign me a case number with their Connected Services team - I already have a general issue case and a case manager who has been very good at contacting me weekly for the last month. I gave Connected Services a pass with the holidays but now times up. Pure conjecture on my part but I wonder if they are reluctant to assign a case number (as it will then be tracked and reported weekly) until they actually know how and why this upgrade did what it did and have a solution to fix it. Perhaps I am just naïvely hopeful and that they are actually working behind the scenes on a solution. I will contact my case manage at Uconnect tomorrow and ask what gives and why I still do not have a Connected Services case number.

So as I said above, this is a real mess - unfortunately we're suffering for it.

Maybe I need to call Uconnect again and get a case started because the idiots I talked to at Uconnect told me to use voice command to search I’m like what are you talking about that has nothing to do with my issue I just described to you.

Try this, What a bunch of cr@p. Online worked fine after the previous OTA update, but the map update erased online, and now they say I need to subscribe besides paying the $150? BULL. Ain't gonna happen. I'll just do the where to and use the workaround.

Since there's a handful of us that have been successful with the update and others that have not, are we able to determine what is causing the issue?
Is it a particular rev or hardware version?

I had to do a software update before I could do the map update.

I too had to do a software update before the map update.

My Uconnect case rep had me go to the truck and put the radio into dealer mode and she checked all my settings after the update to make certain the software and nav updates were successfully applied - meaning there were no errors during the update process. So my software and navigation updates appeared to have been done properly. That's when Uconnect said I needed to have it escalated to their Connected Services group ... still waiting on that to happen though.

Fairly new owner here. Ive had the new to me 2019 Limited for about 3 months. I have the newest Uconnect software but 2018 maps. I have the 90 day 1-terabyte ATT trial going for 4G. Apparently the original owner never activated it.

So heres what DOESNT work for me(I'm not sure what Siris Guardian refers to).

The blue and SOS buttons on the overhead give me a time out. Under Sirius the traffic, movies, sports, etc never connect.

Even with the 4G sim enabled I cant realtime search in the nav software. The "globe" that indicates internet connection stays greyed out. <-- This is the only one I really care about out of the above.

Connecting to the wifi hot spot DOES provide internet access though. So the sim is working.

Don't forget, the traffic, weather, sports and fuel data come directly from SiriusXM, (Travel Link Subscription) they don't relay on WIFI connections.

I have wondered about that as some SXM music stations actually use the Wi-Fi, it even tells you by changing the icon from a satellite to the Wi-Fi signal. It would make more sense to pull that data (weather, traffic , etc..) from the Wi-Fi but I'm not 100% sure.

Yeah sxm pandora stations use wifi. Sxm guardian is linked to the sxm travel link. You can attempt to do a battery disconnect for 15-30 mins the. Reconnect to see if it resets anything. Now be aware when you first turn it on the Uconnect will have missing setting for a while but will eventually return to normal. I’ve tried this but hasn’t fixed my main issue with sos and assist and nav search. But my sxm travel link work properly

I went to my dealership this morning to get my U-Connect 5, 12” updated. They successfully applied update S21C.6 which so far seems to have fixed all the glitches I had previously.
Now, I’ve read somewhere that there are newer updates available but no matter how many times I try to update over WiFi, it doesn’t pull any updates. I have an access point in my garage so that’s not an issue.
Are there any dealers on here that could advise what else I could do to update? If you were to download the file, could you share it via Dropbox or a similar file sharing service?
