Any news yet on power fold for Tow Mirrors?

To install power folding tow mirrors? What wires need to be fished across the vehicle? All you need is mirrors, door modules, driver side door switch, and AlfaOBD. Installing the parts is unplug, swap, plug back in. Infotainment is overpriced, and geared towards unsuspecting customers. Way cheaper to buy the parts on your own.

Agreed if you already have power folding standard mirrors, but if you don’t as i noted there are wires required to be fished, otherwise the passenger mirror doesn’t have the wire for the fold/unfold signal in the harness.

Again, there are zero wires to be fished across the vehicle. ALL of the wires are there attached to the mirror, and they plug right into the new door modules. The door modules control all of the mirror functions, and the each front door has it’s own door module, so there are no wires that need to leave the door. It is as simple as unbolting/unplugging the old mirrors and door modules, and bolting/plugging the new ones in. Then, program any new mirror features into the BCM. It doesn’t matter if you did not have power mirrors before, either. If you don’t understand how a particular swap is done, please don’t post misinformation about it. That will only confuse others who come along and want to do this swap.

Here a link to watch. Same applies for adding the factory.

Ok, this thread is about installing power fold tow mirrors. That video is about installing aftermarket power fold tow mirrors to a truck that already has power fold mirrors. The wires that are being run through the doors and throughout the cab is to get the mirror turn signals to behave as running lights by fuse tapping into the fuse box. This is an aftermarket feature offered on those mirrors that isn’t being discussed in this thread. Besides, none of that wiring is even necessary, because you can use the ambient lit door handles circuits on the door modules to use the turn signals as running lights without having any wiring leave the doors. None of the wiring in that video has anything to do with getting power fold tow mirrors to work.
So, to recap- In order to install power folding tow mirrors onto a ram truck that does not have power folding mirrors, all you need is the mirrors, door modules, driver door switch, and program in the feature. That’s it. Period. This has been accomplished thousands of times over by ram owners, and it is no different on the 5th gens.

Ok I’ll admit defeat, although the aftermarket mirrors are about $1000 cheaper than the mopar power fold and all the bits.

Update on availability from Infotainment, from a chat I just had with John:

We are working on getting [the 2019-2021 power folding tow mirrors] out sooner
since we don't a way to do it currently but hopefully later this year like this Summer or early Fall for the new body power folding tow mirrors

For All interested I just replaced my standard mirrors that had all features except 360 degree camera. (Power folding, Blind spot, puddle light, heat, memory ect) with the part numbers

68448077aa
68448076aa

All features seem to work except (memory) although I never knew how to get it to work for old mirrors either so it could work just don't know how to test. You lose auto dimming if you go to tow mirrors which sorta sucks but the power fold works!!!

Been waiting a long time for someone to post or for me to find those part #s! Where did you purchase through?

I bought through MoparAmerica because they had the fastest shipping.... but there were plenty of sites even the direct Mopar store had them. Just google the part numbers and they will come up.

I also found out that the bighorn doesn't have actual memory mirrors (i don't have the buttons on the door handle) which is why it doesn't work. The "memory" they have is for if you have the tilted mirrors when you go in reverse (bad marketing by Ram).

If someone wants to be the ginny pig - 1A Auto does make aftermarket POWER FOLD tow mirrors for the 4th gen trucks. I THINK the bolt pattern for the mirror mounts are the same as our 5th gens, but may be wrong. I had a set on my 2018 Ram and the mirrors were OEM quality. Idk about the plugs or anything that plug into the door modules...but I'd assume those probably haven't changed either.

Also, putting the pictures of a 2018 4th gen mirror next to a 2019 5th gen mirror, the bolt pattern and plugs all look identical to me.

Already been tried- 4th gen mirrors and 2019+ HD Ram mirrors won’t mount onto a 5th gen DT. Also, the wiring in the two connectors on the 4th gen mirrors would have to be completely rearranged.

If you just straight up swapped mirrors, and had no programming done, can you verify that when the mirrors are in the flipped up tow position, do the mirror glass adjustment arrows work in the correct direction?

I'm talking about these - https://www.1aauto.com/2013-18-ram-...ror-set-trail-ridge/i/trmrp00042/1111810/2018

Not a set from a 2500.

I'm half tempted to try them. I've been wanting tow mirrors anyway and can return them if they don't fit. I just gotta work up the nerve to pull the trigger. I compared the plugs from a 2018 mirror (these I tagged) and a set of 2019 mirrors for the 5th gen...they are identical to me. I find it hard to believe they changed the door modules, at least for the mirror controls anyway. But, I could very well be wrong.

Ok, I’ll clarify:
Any set of mirrors that fit on ANY 2009-2018 Ram truck, will not fit on a 2019+ 5th gen DT Ram truck. Also, any set of mirrors that fit on 2019+ Ram HD trucks, will not fit on a 2019+ DT Ram.
The mounting studs, and the triangle are not even close. Trust me, this has been tried before.
The connectors are indeed the same between the two, but all of the circuits from the door module are in different pin positions between 4th and 5th gen.

I gotcha. It was a good thought. I'm sure 1A Auto is working on a set for 5th gen trucks.

Are these the black cap mirrors or chrome? Looking for the black ones. Have a Rebel with BSM, Puddle light, Power fold
