Same thing happened to me as well. 2021 Bighorn. Stopped at red light, making a left hand turn. Light changed, let off brake, pressed down on accelerator, truck started moving forward then died. Transmission went to park, and parking brake came on. I was able to start the truck by pushing the button and put it in drive and everything went back to normal. Drove the rest of the way to work with no issues. The truck was right around 4,800 miles. When I took it in for the oil change at 5,000, I mentioned it to the dealer and he said to set an appointment to bring it in. Figured that is going to be a waste of time as as there are no codes.

Hopefully they get this figured out soon. It is a safety issue. Had I been making that turn and there was a lot of traffic, it is very likely I would have been struck either by the rear or by oncoming traffic.

Not sure if this is the same as what y’all are experiencing, but about a month ago I was moving my 2020 non-eTorque Hemi out of the driveway. Shifted from park to reverse, and the truck just died. I was immediately able to restart it.

It hasn’t completely died again, but there are time when I’m shifting out of park to either drive or reverse and I’ll see the RPMs dip and it sounds like it’s going to die but catches itself.

Let me know if the link doesn’t work and I’ll mess with settings (first time uploading to YouTube).

What kind of gas are you guys running, and what was the tank level? These things can happen with low octane crappy / dirty gas. Put some good gas in (89 or above) some seafoam, and floor it a few times on entrance ramps to blow it out. Also resetting the ecm on occasion is good too, clears everything including learned engine data from what i can tell. Just unhook negative batt terminal for 15 minutes than reconnect. Also, tank levels… if its low on gas and you do heavy G maneuver than the gas can rock to the side of the tank starving the pump for a few seconds, enough to stall it. So yeah, keep it full of good gas ⛽️ is my advice.

This sounds different to me than our issues but still obviously not good

I use the same stations I’ve used in plenty of other cars. Never been low on gas when this happen. This shouldn’t happen with a brand new expensive truck and you shouldn’t have to reset computers to have a brand new car function correctly. It may help , and appreciate the suggestion , but I think it’s a bigger issue.

this sounds to me like a different issues. Not to argue but even with 87 from a top tier gas station it should not stalled like us mentiones before

Same thing happened to me yesterday. Backed out of garage, rolled down driveway and turned left onto my street. Drove about a tenth of a mile to the stop sign, pretty easy with light gas since truck was still warming up. Rolled slowly (2-3) mph to make a right turn lightly feathering the gas and 3/4 through the turn pressed a little more on the gas and truck died. Just before it came to a stop parking brake engaged and message on screen said to place vehicle in park. 2021 1500 hemi etorque with 800 miles on it. Gonna call dealer tomorrow. I have not duplicated the issue again, yet.

One question to everybody who has experienced this miserable scenario: Do you have auto-parking brake enabled?

If so, then the fundamental problem may be the stall. Once this happens, the truck may automatically set the brake. Since I don't have my RAM yet, I can't test to see if this is the programmed behavior, or if you need to actually put the ignition switch into OFF mode before the parking brake will engage.

I personally don't like the auto-parking brake set feature. It seems overly complicated with little benefit, and prone to destructive consequences (such as being rear-ended) if something unexpected (bad sensor, sw error, etc.) happens. But I am a crusty old dude who still thinks that somebody with a driver's license should be able to perform basic tasks without computer assistance, such as setting a parking brake.

I agree, the issue is the stalling. The brake engaging, I believe, is a safety issue with the truck shut down and moving while the gear selector is in drive and not neutral.

Has anyone started the lemon law process yet ? I’ve had my truck at the dealer the required amount of time but I suspect they’ll tell me there is no defect with my truck since it cannot be duplicated.
Local dealer in Stuart , Fl did the typical dealer BS. Asked if I could trade it in they said “we wouldn’t sell your truck with stalling issues “. Ha. They can’t have it both ways , but of course they do - it’s not a stalling problem for me while it’s in my possession and risks my family but if they take possession it’s a problem.

I’m in touch with Stellantis , which is now Chrysler corporate. I will not let this go since such a huge safety issue

Hi Sigarci -- Any update on your vehicle? Was the dealer able to successfully address the stalling? Thanks.

Here is dash cam video of my stall, stall occurs at 23 secs

Hi Dweaver, Thanks for posting the video. It should be hard for the dealer to deny that your truck has a serious issue. Would appreciate it if you would update us with FCA's response. You are doing a huge service to everybody on this forum by publishing your experience.
