Or... you could get the TSB done so the truck will operate as it was meant to be.
Even thought they had to remove the dashboard and console, it was returned without any damage or rattles. Well worth it in my opinion.

That's the beauty of freedom of choice, whatever works best for your particular situation. I'd personally go towards the valve, but I also don't trust any of the service departments that are anywhere close to me. So something invasive like this for dealer work, versus spending a little money out of pocket and fixing it on my own, I'll keep the truck and do it on my own. Posts like Erics in this thread are too common from what I've seen, and I would be afraid I would get my vehicle back needing a return trip to fix what was broken. At which point, I wouldn't want to give them my truck ever again anyway.

However, I know there are good service departments out there and clearly some of you have gotten your trucks back unharmed so I'm not trying to preach to fix it on your own. I'm more jealous that I don't have any dealers I can trust around here.

Yeah, my service department has been great, and I've had my truck in there over a dozen times. Never had an issue.
If I had some of the mishaps others have had with their dealers, I'd prob be going the valve route as well.

My local 3 unfortunately have not impressed me with service (well disappointed to be accurate), and for sales are atrocious, even during normal times. So let's just say I haven't stepped foot in any of my local dealers in years. And now I've ordered a truck from a dealer 1500 miles away, crazy times!

Upstate NY (Binghamton area)...would be nice to buy local but they just don't play ball around here, or at least they haven't when I've tried. And to be fair, most of the other major brands don't have stellar reputations around here either for both sales/service, so in my case it definitely seems to be a regional thing.

Because, in addition to the TSB Note posted by Neurobit above, I've had 2 cases opened with Customer Care regarding this issue (A/C cooling). Both were unsuccessful but that was one of the things I learned from Stellantis Engineering via my Case Manager.
Your 2 cases were for a later build (with the redesign) that is still having issues?

The tech should be promptly relieved from duty. No second chances. Even working the oil change bay is too risky. There's no excuse for any service department employing a nimrod like that.
Just picked my truck up after the TSB was performed. Everything seems to have been completed and put back together correctly other than some scratched and broken trim pieces. The AC seems cold but I've been using only heat for like 6 months so it's hard to tell how well it's working. I'll have to wait till it gets a little hotter for a true test. It was at the dealership for 3 full days. The guy said the repair was pretty extensive. There's an occasional small click when I turn the wheel at certain times that wasn't there before that I will be keeping an eye on.

This is the third time I've brought my vehicle in for warranty work and have noticed extra damage when I picked it up. The tech obviously knew he broke my trim piece. Why not just tell someone and put a new one on order. Like I'm not going to notice it. SMH

Nope. 2019 truck built in December 2018.

Both times the dealership did the "cooldown test" and it passed. They are adamant that it needs to be done since it's a published A/C test (even though the TSB does not list it as a requirement).

For my first case Customer Care said they "had to side with the dealership". I thought my mistake was opening a case after I got my truck back. I opened a second case before taking the truck in. Customer Care was in contact with the dealership while my truck was there but it passed the cooldown test again and I got my truck back. Customer Care did absolutely nothing to press the issue. I even requested a STAR Case opened if they were not going to to do the repair...also no help. I've had the truck back for weeks now and my Case Manager is "still looking into it". I'm not going to hang on for something that probably isn't going to happen the longer there's no answer. I called earlier this week to cancel my case but 5 calls to my Case Manager with no answer or return call. I finally called, selected talk to another person, talked to them, they make a note in my case, then my Case Manager calls me back. Case closed.

I'm not going to waste any more of my life hanging on with hope for something that isn't going to happen. Probably my last use of @RamCares as that has gotten me nowhere except a lot of extra phone calls and re-explanations of why the work isn't going to get done or why they aren't going to tell the dealership to do the repair.

I might consider the valve as long as I can remote control it from the cab. After 8 years of having a manual ball valve on my last truck I'm not interested in going under the hood on a regular basis to throttle the valve for temperature (I love it cold and my wife loves it very warm).

It doesn't seem like much of a big deal to do that but after awhile it becomes cumbersome and annoying.

My only other option is to drive around to other local dealerships to see if they will agree to the repair by showing them the TSB. I'm not interested in dropping it off for $100 each time to be told no for a third, fourth, or fifth time.

Why would they charge $100 for a TSB service even if they deny it? I use the clamp and take it off in the winter, reinstall in summer. Not a big hassle as I check air filter etc. at the same time. Not worried about hose failure at all.

I’m thinking that prob he’s using extended warranty with a $100 deductible.

Yes, I’m into ESP territory (41K miles). The Max Care plan I have has a $100 deductible per visit. The $100 covers diagnosis and repairs so even if they don’t do any repairs it still costs $100. Still a good deal since I had them look at 4 things which would have been over $300 just for them to diagnose everything.

Sorry I wasn’t clear in the beginning.

Correct. The 2021s should have good AC. Perhaps yours is low on refrigerant?

I don't have a thermometer capable of taking readings at the moment, I'm just going off of how it feels and how long it takes the cab to cool down.
In your case, I would try the clamp method to see if it makes a difference
