Finally got around to washing it after our snow drive! Still gotta hit the wheel wells and I want to do some paint correction this weekend.

Some before and after.

Man, with the sunlight hitting it, and the gold wheels, you can see the blue tint to it really nicely. On an overcast day or low light, it doesn't look that special, but here I really like it. Those wheels look *just* like the hubs of my motorcycle's EBC front brake rotors.

I just finished mine this weekend, I had started on it a few months back and I was not happy with the paint condition. So this weekend I clayed and did a cut/polish and I am thrilled with how good it looks. I then used the Hrydro Slick Ceramic on it and it looks soo good. 😍
If you don't mind, I have some questions!
  • How old is your truck?
  • Is this the first time you did any correction?
  • How were you washing it before?
  • Were there areas you DIDN'T touch? Like, inside the door surrounds, around the grill and headlights, difficult places to isolate around plastic emblems or trim or door handles...
  • How long did it take?
I'm growing courage to do this myself. My truck is new, only rinsed it a couple times with the power wand at the car wash (no automated or brushes), so I'm guessing most of the paint is unmolested still. I can't get myself to spend thousands more for this service, before I make my first payment on this already very expensive truck (and I'm still getting my mods together!).

What I've seen so far in paint correction videos, it isn't 100% necessary to do this immediately. Although I know that Security Guy loves to get his PPF immediately. That's looking like $1800 for all the front, fenders, and lower edges.

@WReckeR ...if you have the right tools and buy a quality polish and pads, it's actually quite easy for an amateur to do an amazing paint correction job. Not hard at all and, if you watch a few YT vids, you'll be doing it like a pro in no time. I recommend Griots polishers as they have a Lifetime Warranty. I have a G9 and a G8 for tighter spaces. You can do PC at any time and doesn't have to be done right away like PPF should be.

IRON-X
CLAY BAR or CLAY MITT
POLISH/CORRECT
CERAMIC or WAX COAT
DONE!

I'm up for the challenge. I'll just have to buy more power tools! but it should be much more affordable than paying someone.

I can't imagine that there are an unlimited number of times you can remove clearcoat. I am hoping that, since it's only been in the winter wind so far and no brushes that defects are minimal.

Iron-X sounds like a product you didn't know you needed but someone talked you into it.

Feel free to PM me if you want to talk via phone in more detail about detailing ;)

Finally got everything in to route my DIY wireless charging and wireless CarPlay in the truck. This came out pretty clean. I might try and find a better adapter to sit more flush in the 110 plug.

I'm grateful my Laramie options included the wireless charger. I would've been none the wiser had I continued to have to plug in, but once I used it (the Ram is my first experience with one), I saw right away the convenience. Plus, it's nice to have that rubber clip so the phone is not sliding around or hidden.

I'm saving all my questions for one giant rap session. I'll probably have to fly down for a class!
Morning schedule -- underhood terminal station for various add-on devices, wireless controls for accessory lights, dash cam software setup / app, etc
Afternoon schedule -- detailing equipment, techniques, consumables

Unfortunately, I wasn’t looking out for this when I bought the truck. I was too focused on finding one with 4x4, gearing, interior, and factory skid plates, etc. that wireless charging missed the list. I’m pretty happy with my retrofit though.

My 2020 laramie doesn't have it, but im perfectly fine without it. I don't have a problem plugging it in so that it connects to android auto and charges at the same time.

It will interfere with the front sensors, I plan on relocating them if possible.
Hi, What did you do after installation, with 2 front sensors? Just unplugged or switch off front parking sensors on panel?
I want to install bull bar but don't want to switch off sensors.
