Rear window surround crack.

I swapped the bulbs in my 3rd brake light with no leaks afterward. It's just a foam seal, as skimpy as it is. It should seal up after replacing light bulbs.

Just picked mine up from getting the window replaced today. The window arrived at the dealer roughly 40 days after the claim was approved and only a few days after reaching out to Mark and RamCares (thanks for the help there guys!). Install looks good. They did remove and reinstall the rear seat. I’m going to double check the seatbelts tomorrow after reading the other posts. I forgot to take a picture of the numbers on the old one to compare. They also replaced my floor mat with a new style for the recall, better than the cutting solution!

New RAM owner here. So after a rainy night last night I look and sure enough my rear drivers side head rest is wet. So is this as simple as replacing the gasket or do I need a new rear window?

If you don't have cracks on the interior of your frame (see pics posted in earlier threads), then it's most likely a 3rd brake light seal. If not, then a shark fin antenna seal. Finally, it could be the seal on the window itself.

If it was the shark fin antenna, the headliner would be wet about 12" from the rear window. If the headliner is wet only in one corner of the headliner, it's probably the rear window. If it's wet mainly in the middle rear of the headliner, it's probably the third break light. Of course this is just my observation. My window is leaking at the passenger side rear corner of my headliner. BTW, the surround around the rear window on my truck is not cracked.

That makes sense, I was just mentioning the possible sources of water intrusion other than a crack.

So unfortunately I get to join this illustrious club of cracked rear window liners with the slightest leak starting.

Heading to the dealership today with the pics and star case to see what they’ll do to help

Contact @RamCares on the forum with a private message as well. They were able to light a fire under my dealer to speed up the process. Dealer submitted photos Monday and Friday was approved to be fixed under warranty. Downfall is they said they have a guy waiting at 40 days still for the replacement window. So my 40 day count down begins now.....

Edit : sounds like I got lucky or RamCares helped a bunch. Window ordered and approved 12/21/2020 and window arrived 12/22/2020.

Appointment set up next week.

Well I got my truck back from the dealer today, I had no visible cracks in the rear window surround/frame but the tech from LeakPro who fixed my leaks found a few long with a leaky third brake light seal and he resealed the urethane in the corners.

Add me to the rear window leak club. I had the upper brake light leak months ago and I used a better gasket which worked but now I have water coming from between the glass and frame. I have the cracks starting that everyone is mentioning. This sucks.
What kind of gasket did you use?

I tried digging through posts but couldnt find any mention. I found the sealant to use on the window. Ive got cracks and im thinking i will do some preventative work since it hasnt leaked yet.

After a wash the other day I noticed a crack on each side for me. Sure enough, water slowly dripping down inside the cab. Called the local dealer to book it in, told him over the phone what was going on and he said they had their first one of these incidents just a couple of weeks ago. Appointment is in 2 weeks and they said they just need it for the day. We'll see what happens.

New to me 2019, saw this thread and decided to check... Crack on each side of the sliding window. I guess I'll be contacting dealer.. I assume this is covered under the 3yr 36k warranty?

Just got mine back on Wednesday. Looks great. No apparent damage. Slider works. Seat belts attached. Had some rain on the way home and so far, so good. Will have to test rear window defroster.

When I first took it to the dealer where I had bought the truck and showed them the cracks as well as video of it dripping from below the cracks during a rain storm, they said I had to make another appointment and then leave it for 3-4 days to do a water test before they could file a claim with FCA. And they don't offer loaners.

Made an appointment with another dealer. Showed them just the star report, they took a few pictures and told me they'd call when the window came in. Was out of there in 15 minutes. One month later, I brought my truck in again. They gave me a new Dodge Charger to drive compliments of FCA. Two days later I picked up my truck with a brand new window.

Loved the experience at my new dealer. Pretty sure my old dealer was telling me they didn't want to replace the window and were going to make it as inconvenient as possible. Moral of the story is find a good dealer.

I too am going through this issue right now (rear window surround crack) on a 2019 limited with 22k miles. I'm a new owner and found this thread. Could someone be so kind as to point me in the direction of the DIY for the 3rd brake light gasket replacement? Also I heard there was a star report on the window surround cracks? I tried searching, but no luck... appreciate it guys!

For the star report on the window surround crack, someone had given me this earlier in the thread. Hope it helps.
