Rear window surround crack.

2019 Ram Rebel here. 45k miles. Cracked rear window surround, leaking. Have we found out if this gets covered out of warranty, or is it out of pocket at that point. Just bought my Rebel used, and it looks like the crack has been there and has been leaking for a while. During recent rains i watched it drip drip drip, and it wasnt a slow drip.

If its not going to be recalled or covered out of warranty, then what has anyone done to seal the window themselves. Besides sealing up the third brake light, is the only other thing to do is run silicone around the exterior in the crack channel around the whole rear window? I read as many pages as i could.

If you just bought it used I’d go back to where you purchased it and see what they can do for you. If they won’t do anything you could run a bead of black silicone inside the top of the window allowing it to fill the gap.

Or you can remove the headliner and seal it from the inside. I just had this done recently to fix some leaks with no visible cracks in the plastic frame.

Mine is being replaced under warranty. Dealer took pics and sent to FCA. Just waiting to hear back

My rear window assembly was replaced under warranty, if it fails again I will seal it with black RTV.

Just got the cracks here. Dam they make this stuff cheap!

I have an appointment on Thursday. Hopefully they have the part in stock.

Since my replacement window frame plastic has cracked again but I don't have any leaks yet I am wondering if it is worth it to have them replace it again since there isn't a new part number yet....

Was looking for other Ram owners outside of warranty period to see if they had been lucky enough to get the repair covered. You being under 22,000 miles would be covered.

I would take it to the dealer so they can document it and maybe if a new window comes out after your warranty period ends FCA will replace it for you.

I have 30,000 kilometres on mine and it's going in on Thursday for the replacement. They ordered the glass assembly and everything prior to even looking at it and are prepared to inspect and replace same day. Not sure if I'm getting lucky or not with my dealer but I didn't have to wait for FCA to approve warranty or wait.

I'll advise on here once the work is completed on Thursday

Add me to the ever increasing list of people that seem to be affected by poor quality control oversight & cheap manufacturing.
Only the driver side appears to be cracking (so far).
Checked the rest of the back window and inspected the third taillight, if there is a leak, I have yet to know about it.

Gonna make an incident report with my dealer tomorrow & go from there. Yay..

(Edit: For whatever reason, the site isn't attaching my photos, so there's that too. Yay)

So to add insult to injury, after finding out I have cracks in my rear window, my truck wouldn't start this morning. Last time this happened it was due to a bad factory battery. RSA is sending a tow truck today since it couldn't be jumped. I am hoping this isn't due to the leak. This is what I get for buying a first year of a redesign.

Yeah that is the crux, I had the first one replaced under warranty and now it has cracked again after my warranty has expired.

That sucks, I wonder if the replacement part itself has a warranty or if it just picks up where the factory warranty left off.

Well to be honest, there is no gaurantee the window crack issue is fixed now. There are late 2020 RAMs & Silverados still having these window issues since they both use the same suppliers. Hopefully the 2021 have been fixed.

Oh lovely...so I brought the truck in yesterday to replace the rear window and complete the floor mat recall. The work on the truck took the full day so I picked up the truck today. After receiving the keys and checking the truck over inside and out I identified some troubling issues. When I flipped the rear seat up, the middle seat belt fell to the floor. I noticed that the elastic harness for the middle seat belt was torn and broken... Fantastic...after further inspection I noticed one of the bolts securing the seat to the floor was not torqued and the metal washer was loose. Clearly I am beyond frustrated and I showed the advisor. He called a technician in to tighten the bolt but the bolt is cross threaded. I left the truck with them and they claim they will fix it tomorrow.
