I am between these two 2.5" performance leveling packages:
Icon Stage One - 2.5 Coilover front / 2.0 shock rear, non - reservoir, no compression adjusters
King - 2.5 front and rear - 2.5 Coilover front / 2.5 shock rear, both HAVE reservoirs, both have compression adjusters

I am running rough roads in Alaska, and by rough, I mean there are two seasons up here. Winter and road construction. In the Northern region, road construction doesn't happen that often, so the lack of maintenance on the roads leads to very washboard terrain with lots of stress and impact, but it's not 100 degrees and I am not traveling these roads day in and day out.
That being said, I have a buddy with a '19 Raptor, and I'd like to at least have a shot at keeping up with my ORP Laramie and not have the suspension limiting me on some of those roads. I have a quote on both, and am obviously happier with the Icon's lower price point, but am strongly considering the King's based on the Tech/Owner's opinion. I wanted to get a few more opinions before I clicked PAY NOW.

Can anyone speak to experiences with either of these? I can find youtube videos all day, but mostly they are endorsements of sponsorees. And they are testing their's in southern California on sand dunes.

Do you have a link for the King’s? I wasn’t able to find anything specific for 5th Gens on their site.

Disregard last. I found another thread with more info on the Kings. Good luck with your decision.

I ran Fox, Icon, and King systems on a number of my past builds as I actually go off-road for high desert/dune runs and slower speed mountain trailing.

My Icon system was the Stage 1 2.5/2.0 along with their Delta Joint UCA. The Icons are typically digressively-valved; on road handling was great but the truck rode hard over speed bumps and ruts during slower speeds. However, once you got to speed, the shocks got smoother over the hard stuff.

My King system was the 2.5 Front/Rear with remote reservoirs paired with Total Chaos UCAs. Kings are typically progressively-valved; the truck had a softer ride on road and over bumps and ruts during slower speeds but stiffened up during higher speed runs.

My Fox system seemed to provide better on-road handling like the Icon system but also better ride over speed bumps and ruts (like the KIng system) and seemed on par with both off-road as well.

If you have to traverse washboard roads a lot, I think the King setup would be more comfortable and controlled at slower to moderate speeds while the Icon would be better at moderate to higher speeds.

So to keep up with the Raptor on washboard roads, I would go for a higher stage Icon system

Not 100% yet. Just got the Zone Offroad Level kit for 2020 rams delivered (actually was less expensive to get full kit from car id than order uca only). I keep going back and forth because Icon is digressive, so it will be (from what I have researched) a better ride on rough highways. I am starting to lean toward buying front/back ala carte bc you can get 2.5 front and 2.5 rear (rear with reservoir), whereas stage 1 is the same 2.5 front, but 2.0 rear (no reservoir). My biggest hesitation is that I haven't been able to find anyone who has opened up the icons. There are YouTube videos of Filthy Motorsports opening up the Kings and showing the true 2.5 hydrolic piston (whereas some of there competitors are internally barely larger than stock even though they claim to be 2.0/2.5s.) This definitely was news to me. They cite crawlpedia.com, but that website has not reported on Icon yet. I have heRd good things from a local dealer, but they have only soldand/or installed 5 icon suspension setups total. They say good things, but they are also NOT a king dealer, so I am not sure how much they actually care to offer an unbiased opinion.
The icon 2.5 front and 2.5 rear ends up costing about the same as the king with no reservoir on the front. ($2400ish)
The icon stage 1 is $1600.
Or Thuren will sell the same kings for $2550 tuned to your driving habits/environment.
I am pretty sure these are still too new of a truck platform to have many people spending the money on this type of suspension. Most pwners seem to be lifting 6" and throwing 22s with 35" tires. Nothing wrong, just not what I am trying to do.

I’m in the same dilemma. Highly considering the Thuren route. I feel that tuning is everything with these. Icon seems to do a pretty comprehensive vehicle specific tune too. But, Thuren level 3 tune sounds great for what I want out of it.

I was getting dropped by my friend in a ‘18 2500 Cummins with a full Thuren Kit tuned at level 2.5. This was on some rough wintery county roads in Colorado it was impressive to see such a big truck get around like that.

Gotcha. Great that you’re taking the time to research and find what’s best for your needs. Looking forward to seeing which route you go. I’m not buying any time soon but I’m already stuck deciding between a full front/rear coilover kit or piecing it together with ORP springs, better UCA’s and leveling struts etc. Who knows I may just end up with a Rebel in two years, or an AEV Prospector if I hit the lotto.

I am currently researching a similar decision. But between the Tera-Flex/Falcon set up along with ORP springs and Icon stage 2 w/ their matched springs for the back. Comes out to almost equal for parts & install, i'm feeling that the icon set up w/ their matched springs will be a more 'tuned' package without stepping up to a custom set up.

I’m about to install my Icon stage 5 setup on Thursday. I’ll try to remember to jump on here and give my opinion after this weekend. I had them on my 4Runner and loved them.

I’m in the exact same boat with my 20’ Rebel. I have all Icon stuff on my 11’ 4Runner and have been nothing but impressed. Since I got the Rebel I have been going back and forth between the Carli Performance kit which uses 2.5” Kings front and rear with reservoirs, or the Icon Stage 5 kit. Problem is, the Carli kit had some updates to account for a couple changes in the 19-20 Ram 1500s and won’t be available until late summer.
I didn’t want to jump the gun so I grabbed a pair of Icon’s Delta Joint UCAs and motofab leveling spacers which should serve me until some more reviews come out on the Icon and Carli stuff. I’m curious to hear how @ironking likes the stage 5 Icon kit.

SoCal you are correct. I spoke w/ Carli today about their availability for the 2019+ Ram. They are expecting late summer release. This certainly complicates my Falcon/Icon decision. It might be worth it to wait for Carli. I've ridden in a few 2500's with Carli higher level suspension set ups and I can tell you they ride amazing and I'm sure are even better once you get off road.

My update from my first weekend with the Icons. Feel free to ask me anything if you have questions.

What I sent to another member who asked me via PM.

I would hold off for a bit. The kit rides AMAZING! But, there’s something not right with it. The kit doesn’t give , well any lift or level. This has been verified by me and another member who has the Stage 5. I’m maxed out (Icons max measurement), and I have the same amount of rake that I had stock...~2” difference. Should get at least 1.5” higher in the front since I have a Rebel. I am going to call Icon tomorrow to raise questions and the other member has already been in contact with them over the concerns. Our suspicions is that they used the 4th gen kit, made it fit and rolled with it, but I’m not positive. Also, the rear shocks seem to rotate too easily and after some bumps, the reservoirs don’t stay where you have clearance and can make contact with the frame.

With that said, they do ride great. The rebound control is great and makes a huge difference. My advice is let us deal with Icon and see what they say, and then go from there if you can hold out for a bit.

Thanks IronKing, I wonder if the issue is Rebel Specific? Being that the rebels are already 'lifted' from the factory? Still if they advertise/sell as Rebel, it should still deliver as sold. Frustrating I'm certain. That said, for those of us who do not have Rebels, I wonder if we would get the advertised clearance?

@Roaminglost, I ran across the BDS/Fox set up yesterday as well. Seems like a heck of a set up, but definitely an increased cost vs say Falcon or Icon. I wonder if their UCA is really worth it?

I don’t think it is. You’d get some lift in the front/rear, but you won’t get the advertised height of 2.5. With the Rebel, I should have been able to get 1.5” maxed in the front. I got maybe .5 lift from stock. I have 2” of rake which is what I had stock, and no the rear didn’t go up 1.5”. So in summary, I’m stock height with really good riding suspension.

Don’t forget, they did the “R&D” on a Rebel and proudly showing that in their website.
