Slight vibration when turning and braking

Sorry if this a dupe, but I searched for vibration and couldn’t find anything similar. I have a 2019 1500 limited with the 5.7 ( no etorque) and 22 inch rims. It has 28k miles, almost all highway (no towing). I have noticed that as I start to turn to pull into my driveway (low speed), I feel a vibration in the steering wheel and hear a noise that sounds like it is coming from the front drivers suspension as I turn the wheel. I can even feel it in the floorboard and pedals. I have the stock Goodyear’s and have made no mods to the suspension or brakes. I mentioned it at last oil change and of course they found nothing and couldn’t duplicate. I also sometimes think I can “feel” something rubbing or catching as I turn while I drive as well. It seems to happen turning right or left. Anyone else experience this?

Same type of thing here...to me it feels like something in the steering rack (or maybe its the tires). Same Limited setup as yours, 15K miles. Dealer "could not duplicate", but I at least wanted it on record so the in case something happened. I'm almost wondering if its the tires as I seemed to notice it after my last tire rotation, but it could be just me.

Thanks for the reply. I was wondering if I was losing it! Looks like we have the same truck!

Not a solution, but a few things to consider as culprits:

1. Warped rotor or disc brake caliper needs adjusting. Both shouldn't happen at your mileages, but plausible if the rotor was rapidly cooled when hot (like a carwash after heavy brake usage), or if the caliper bolts need more grease to allow the pistons and shoes to move and relax correctly

2. Front axle CV half shafts going bad. Wouldn't be a vibration but more of a clicking or clunking. Again, shouldn't be bad at this time in life, but if the CV joint is contaminated or failing then it can give low speed feedback to the driver. The joint could be low on grease, or the boot could be torn and allowing dirt and debris inside to contaminate the joint (boots can go bad anytime, and not uncommon for any mileage)

3. Check wheel lug nut torque, make sure the wheel isn't causing a slight vibe due to improper torque. If you recently had a tire rotation, you need to retorque the lugs after 100 miles (not just for this, but always as good maintenance practice)

Good luck

Thanks Ranger! I crawled underneath and tried to check all the bolts and they seemed fine. I am planning on taking a wheel off and inspect the brakes, but the wheels have only been off for rotation from the dealer. Thanks for the checklist though!

My truck is doing the same thing. It mainly happens when turning at low speeds but it is starting to do it when I am driving. It's almost like a clunk and I feel it right under my feet. The dealership I bought the truck from still cant figure it out.

Update:
Still makes the noise, but it has changed into almost a grinding noise now. It also only happens at low speeds, but I swear I can “feel” a drag or metal on metal while turning at most speeds. I can especially feel the grid in the steering wheel. The Ram specialist has reached out and I plan to get them involved when I take it in for service shortly. But the way, I’m at almost 30k miles, but 99% of that is 70+ mph highway driving. Where are you at?

I'm at less than 3 thousand miles. And of course I just got a cracked windshield this morning. I've only had the truck exactly a month.

Update!

I had the tires and rims replaced this last Saturday and the rubbing/grinding issue has gone away! I was having uneven wear and “heal-toe” even though I have rotated the tires every 10k. New tires ride so much better and no rubbing or vibrations. The stock Goodyear tires are junk, imho. I also went down to a 20 inch rim with a 60 aspect ratio for more sidewall. Love the look and the ride. Ram Care specialist was also great to work with. Thanks for the reply’s and good luck!

I had the same problem with my 2019 Ram 1500 making noise when I was driving on bad roads. My dealer had it for 2 day to find the peoblem and they replaced the link kit-stabilizer bar ( part # 68399868AC ) It has only been a couple day but the noise is gone.

What did you switch to? Post some pictures. Did Ram Cares pay for this? Mine does it too, I have the Laramie 20’s with the Bridgestone 275/55/20’s and they suck and grind too.

My issue sounds very similar. While turning and backing out of my driveway the truck seems to shutter and vibrate through the floor board and pedal. Almost feels like the rear end is locked and not allowing the wheel to slip on a turn. Just went to the dealer for the Airbag re-programming recall and to be inspected for the vibration. They said they checked torques up on the rack on the suspension and didn't find anything on a test drive. Hoping I can replicate the issue when I pick it up in a few hours and get a tech to sit in or hear it.

I am happy I am not the only one with this issue! it is the exact same way mine behaves and I feel the vibration! I hope someone here can figure out what is causing it :(
