I ran the truck in Performance mode with 93 octane the last fill up. Averaged about 14.8 mpg in mixed highway/city driving.

Yesterday I filled up again with 93 octane and put it in Tow mode. So far, the MPG is averaging about 16.5.

Tow mode seems be a good balance between stock mode and Performance mode with the Pulsar. Tow mode is a bit more snappy than stock, but not as snappy as Performance mode.

I do like Performance mode better. It’s more fun but the MPG is a little less. Imagine that. : )

My MPG is around 13 with 2500 miles. Not doing too good either
I have 3:21 gears and im getting 12.9 mpg city and highway. WTF am I doing wrong? Ultra platinum synthetic oil, 8,800 miles on the truck, not driving crazy, no truck load, just what the hell. And I’m going off what the ram screen shows. 89 octane fuel. Even tried 93 octane. Same reads. What the heck am I doing wrong.l?

Same gears as you too and only 3 toolboxes in the bed - running 87 octane though

It looks like you have the 22" wheels on your truck... Those are going to wreak havoc on your MPG. Extra unsprung weight is the enemy of gas mileage, so larger wheels and or a bigger tire will kill your gas mileage and quickly

That being said, 12.9 still seems strangely low.
I agree but then I see the guys with the 22” wheels on their limited getting higher numbers. Hell, I’ve seen guys with 34s and 35s on here getting better numbers.

Ortiz - I wonder if the MPG calculators in these trucks can be off? I might check mine the old fashion way. At my next fill up, I’ll reset the trip odometer to zero and when I fill up again, divide the number of gallons that it takes into the number of miles. And compare that number to what the truck’s calculator says. If the numbers are close, the truck’s calculator will be accurate.

I’m going to have to try that. I’ll fill up tomorrow at night. Start the week fresh.

Has anyone done any towing with the Pulsar installed and using Tow mode?

Yes. Make sure you still hit the “tow/haul” button in your dash so that your transmission changes it’s map. Tow mode in your pulsar should be with mds off. Do the truck a favor and don’t tow in Eco mode. Let her use up all 8 cylinders during that duty cycle.....mileage is better with the pulsar than without towing my same #5500 boat.

Tow/Haul should disable MDS with or without Pulsar

I've subscribed to this guys' YouTube channel. He has some decent real world testing with the Pulsar. In his opinion, it's done absolutely nothing for MPG.

Interesting. I tried the Pulsar in economy mode and it really sucked as far as throttle response, power, etc. I pretty much keep it in Performance mode which makes the truck quite a bit more snappy. I'm getting about 16.8 MPG in mixed highway/city driving.

I'm about the same as you- 16.9 mpg with the Longhorn but I'm completely stock with no pulsar.

Hmm, doesn’t seem that the Pulsar in Performance mode is hurting MPG too much. I don’t drive it like I do my Mustang GT though. At least not most of the time. I don’t know if the Pulsar increases HP, but it makes the truck more snappy/responsive. I’d love to see someone do before and after dyno pulls to see if it does actually increase HP and torque.

It seems as if on this forum and reviews of the Pulsar many people say it is just throttle response and no other benefits. Wouldnt it make sense to just get the Pedal Commander then for $200 less?

Yes unless you need to adjust for tire size

I think it's still an open question as to whether the Pulsar increases HP and torque in Performance mode. Pulsar claims about a 30/30 increase in both. But I'd like to see independent before and after dyno pulls to settle the question. It feels like an increase in Performance mode, but an increase of 30 HP in a truck that has stock HP of 395 is only about a 7.6% increase. I suppose that's enough of an increase to be noticeable on the ole butt dyno, but what you get with the Pulsar may just be throttle response, etc. I know I'm glad I bought the Pulsar. I stay in Performance mode pretty much all the time now.
