New recall on power adjusting pedals

Had mine done this week.

15 min. Just make sure they plug your pedal in when they are done or your truck will throw a code and they will need a scan tool to erase it.

I live in Upstate SC and as far as I know, I still cannot get my power pedal recall done here as they say they have no parts for it. I am just wondering where some of you are located where your getting your recall completed. I am getting a little bit upset when it says on the recall information from their website that the parts are available. I may have to make a 600 mile trip one way this Thursday or Friday and would hope they have the part in tomorrow but will find out.

I have read the recall and looked at the fix.

Am I correct in stating that unless you are running your pedals forward and backward through the extremes of the adjustment that it is a just not an issue?

I don't think my pedal adjustment setting as have ever been moved from day one.

My plan is to have it done some time in the future when I happen to be at the dealer, which may be in a few months and may be never. Probably the same trip where they re-check my ps ground nut torque.

Try to build a working relationship with a service writer. Then you can call him/her directly and get straight answers. I had the pedal and power steering recalls done last week. Both were done in a about 45 minutes.

At the dealership, they said it’s a very quick fix and I will out of here shortly. They have very few parts that are allocated for new vehicles, mine was sold after the recall hit but they didn’t get the memo and hence such a hurry for me to get done, most others are waiting for parts.

I'm in the Myrtle Beach sc area and was told the same thing "no parts available yet" I feel this is a serious recall and it should be near top priority!

Unsafe is a little harsh, if you don’t adjust the pedals while driving (which the manual says not to) I don’t see what the risk is.

I'm a little surprised that the pedals can be adjusted while driving. About an hour after I drove off the lot with my previous truck (F-250), I was rolling down the interstate pushing buttons and found that one. I was testing the range of the pedals running about 80mph, not realizing that 1) I didn't have a feel for the truck yet, 2) I'm really not paying attention to anything but the buttons and pedals, and 3) My heel is wedged against the floorboard.

I finally realized at about 90MPH that moving the accelerator pedal closer to my foot had the same affect as the opposite . I put it all the way back (I'm 6'4") and left them there.

It seems that as long as you don't mess around adjusting the pedals you shouldn't have problem. Of the 2 current recalls I feel the power steering more important. I had them both done 2 weeks ago.

On a clear day, I can see Seattle from my house.
Finally got a pdf copy of the recall V07.

Here's the cause of all the excitement:
" The adjustable brake pedal may have a plastic travel nut susceptible to failure which may allow the brake pedal to over travel during adjustment, potentially resulting in the brake pedal separating from the adjustable pedal assembly. "

Now here's their fix:
" Add a spacer (band-clamp) to the pedal assembly worm gear shaft as a primary stop on the accelerator pedal side. Also add a clamp (stop-block) at the end of the brake pedal adjustment track to act as a secondary stop in the event that the plastic travel nut fails. "

But there appears to be no intent to replace the "plastic travel nut susceptible to failure" with something a bit more robust.
Admittedly, their fix takes less than 20 minutes to install vs time required to remove the whole assembly, pull it apart and replace that plastic travel nut.

Tried to find some more info or parts breakdown in the disk-based copy of the FSM that I bought from Ram, but it's in a format that requires Internet Explorer, and in that format is darn near impossible for me to search with any speed, so no joy on digging that up.
Here's a picture from the recall for you, though.

I think the main issue is this Ram does not enough parts to fix the recall. U pay 40k to 60k for this truck and they can't send out 1.50 worth of parts to fix a very important component like the freaking brakes.
WTF dealer will take ur $$$$$$ really quick but to fix something that may cost 2 stinking bucks they can't pressure ram or dodge for the parts.

My replacements parts were ordered 2 weeks ago called the dealer for ETA on arrival answer was unknown Toyota and Lexus had same issue a few years ago fam of 4 or 5 died all of a sudden parts were a available for every vehicle, WTF someone has to die for this **** to get fixed 2 freaking dollars is that what a human life is worth? What if one of your family members is killed by someone driving a RAM truck since the brake pedal fell off.

Worm gear drives typically employ Acme threads for smooth operation without binding under a load, but those in the picture don't appear to be that type.
Guess I'll go look behind the gas pedal in the next day or so and verify, so I'll know before I have Ram do the recall.

Here's another picture from the pdf.

You move your pedals around daily? I adjusted mine to a comfortable position the day I bought and then I had to adjust them the day they did the recall. That's it. All they are doing is putting a stop in the truck to limit the forward travel.

That would be a very BAD idea to not have it done. What if you let someone borrow your truck and they play with the pedals? You may not use them but I would certainly have it done at the next dealer visit.

I got mine done. Dallas TX area. I set mine up as soon as it was announced. They fix the trucks on the lot first because II believe they cant sell them with open recalls. I do not claim that to be 100% factual but that's what I have understood before.

I wasn't worried about it because it was only if you set it all the way it could go to far and come loose. I set them once and left them alone.

You are 100% correct that they must be fixed before they can be sold. Mine was fixed before I made my purchase back on 2/18/2019.

I received my Recall notice from FCA over the weekend, but my dealer didn't have the part last Friday so I have no idea when they will have some.
